China's new building planning regulation does not prohibit building skyscrapers taller than 500 meters. It actually just says that any future buildings taller than 500 meters must demonstrate enough reasons to get the planning permission, which means in future getting the planning permission for tall skyscrapers will be much harder and stricter, but not necessarily impossible.

the reason for banding500metre building。is because without the regulation, hundreds skyscrapers like this will be built and every city of China want to break the record which is kind of unnecessary and waste.
