My Partner has suffered from depression for years and when he was on the edge ofgetting better we met and fell in love and he said, I reallybrought him back to the lliving and now I got fired because of the pandemic and have no money at all and some debth and I ask him "Why shall I get out of bed, for what? I got nothing to do" and everytime I say this he replies "I know, babe. I have been there. This was me for years" And I just feel like compassion and understanding and knowing that your depression is not "foreign ground to humankind" gives you somne relief, and just enough energy to maybe go take a shower or eat something. And thats very good.

Yes absolutely! Just for it to be okay, and to not be made fun of or hassled for it can be so helpful. To be allowed to be where you are at, supported, and loved is a huge relief.

I'm really grateful that the Vrajich couple opened up to us! I'm also really glad that they were able to find ways to overcome their depressive episodes! In my efforts to live with chronic depression, it was really nice for me to be reminded of some of the basics that will help me to stay on top! Their final thoughts reminded me of the AA prayer that I keep as my desktop wallpaper: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. I'm going to try to focus on the day-to-day a bit better.

I think it was very brave for the couple to come on and talk about their mental health struggles! I didn't want to butcher their last name by accident. I have Bipolar II, ADHD, and C-PTSD so my poor husband often has to deal with me having a trauma response triggered and he often has to help me through panic attacks. I think it is so important to talk about and be open about mental health in your relationship. It's just as important as physical health.

I’ve had an anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder for a long time, made worse through stress, more work hours, etc. My wife has a strong support system, but I do not. I know this is an incomplete picture of our situation, but any general advice for helping a spouse with chronic mental health?

Is it rude to ask if his arm is OK? That's some painful looking bruises there. Which doesn't have to mean anything, though. I bruise soper easily and sometimes they look bad but do not hurt. So my question: Is there any instance in which psychologists and psychatrists will NOT be concerned about people feeling OK with dying? :'D Like, is the concept of a person being content enough to die in peace at any age and time completely averse to people in this profssion? (and ofcourse you can only talk for yourself here, I guess. But maybe you have collegues with various perspectives to talk about?) As a person with a very friendly relationship with the topic of death, I just wonder. There are so many taboos over the topic of death that I can understand from he perspective of others, but not always personally relate to.

There's definitely a professional value across the board to do everything within your power to keep the patient alive.

He just had just had a kidney transplant and was super bruised from the prednisone and constant blood draws. It's mostly better now thankfully.
