A Day Trip to visit a Federal Signal 1000T in Clinton, MS. Located at the intersection of Old Vicksburg Rd., below the Clinton water tower. To see this siren in action head on over to Sweet Tea Sirens! • Clinton, Mississippi |...
hey day tripping, i found that you did a spelling mistake on the title and said MS instead of FS (MS stands for mesan electronic, which is a brand that makes very tiny sirens like that b&m super chief you saw in your desert siren roundup), so maybe you might need to fix that.
The most-common siren model found in Mississippi is the Federal Signal 2001. I grew up in Madison, MS just north of Jackson and they were slowly phasing out their system of Federal Signal 2T22's and replacing them with 2001's back then (early-mid 90s). There is still a 2T22 on Madison Ave. just east of I-55 that I believe is still active. A few Federal Signal Thunderbeams can be found in Ridgeland and Flowood. And Rankin County has some older rotating style Whelens. Beyond that and the Jackson Modulators, the region is overwhelmingly Federal Signal 2001.
@@DayTrippingAdventurer Could very well be. I think Jackson had a few 2T22's before they upgraded their system. I know for sure they had a great deal of Thunderbolts.
The Mississippi siren google map I have has little details about all the sirens and most of them say, "replaced a 1000 in the early 2000's." So, I image 20 years ago there were 1000s all over the place. Wonder if anyone has home movies with them in background?
Unfortunately my time in MS has come and gone. I just got lucky this year that I got to go there for work twice. Wouldn't mind heading back one day and if/when I do I will certainly hit you up for those dates.
Yeah we have a modulator downtown it’s a 6048 I believe, but over the summer a brand new mark two series 6032 was installed to have more than one siren in the area we live but you ain’t gonna see many tsunami‘s in Washington🤣
I added the link to that video in the description. I'm so used to seeing classic sirens that no longer that I get surprised to find one in the wild that does.
