One of my favourite characters, because her story so well highlights how awful the world of Aionios is, and how it treats people that can't, or don't have talents, in fighting. Sadly while the reasoning for such parenting is oft different in our world, it still happens much the same. Parents that put their ideals and dreams square on their children and the ones that can't live up are disappointments, and is as Monica says. The only fact is the child is born of the parent, it is thereafter in the parent's choices that dictate if that life has warmth and love. That said, parallels are a running theme in XC3, go figure. Seeing how Shania would have turned out with a kinder, warmer mom and a little bit more tallent shows what her life might have been like. Or if her mom had just accepted her daughter still making it in despite her shortcomings, even as a reserve. A little more warmth could have been the difference. They're (a catchphrase for situations like that in this game) a step away.
@@NeverBetter23 I feel like Shania's lowkey extremely impressive, making it to 8th place despite essentially having no talent for combat AND still not having really found her true blade (one that she actually meshes well with instead of forcing it upon herself). Yet despite all that hard work, all that creature of a parent can do is talk shit about her. Truly pitiful, I can't believe that's how the people Shulk mentored turned out in the end.
Godddd, literally everything could have been avoided. First off, screw the mom for adding more negativity in her life when she’s dealing with two dead family members. And as I said previously Ghondor your wording and tone could have been better. You had the right idea but you made it feel like Shania efforts was nothing. Just wished things gone differently and more people supported her. Also Monica makes a huge point and a sad truth to the group. Not all parents deserves a child and not all children will be grateful for the effort a parent put for them. People aren’t automatically bonded to each other even if it’s blood related. But that doesn’t mean we can’t create that bond and strengthen it with time.
This scene is great, but god this quest feels like when you're in a disney world in Kingdom Hearts and while the movie plot stuff is happening between the Disney characters, Sora and co just occasionally step forward and say a line or two to remind us that they're still here Case and point: A 5 minute conversation between Ghondor and Shania, with Sena only stepping in to say "Shania..." wistfully after it's all over
Because Sena could have turned out like Shania very easily if she didn't have the supportive friends that she found Sena & Shania have the same struggle, you could say two sides of the same coin
@@mysteriouscolours1532 Yeah Ghondor didn’t really need 2 ascension quests. They could’ve made that Tirkin quest its own thing without voice acting, made this Ghondor’s ascension quest, and then given Sena an actual Ascension Quest that focused on her. Like, Mio, Noah, Taion, Lanz, and Eunie all got Ascension Quests that fit them and progressed their arcs, with them as the focus of said quest, but Sena was like a side character _in her own quest._
I enjoy this seqeunce so much how the game does a good enough job of explaining how Sheniaia got so broken by the world , with out letting it act as an excuse for how she lashed out and the party calling her out how what she wanted was power not justice . and Gods I wished Monica punched Sheniaias shitty mother but its so heart breaking if she wasn't born a member of the 6 houses, if her father stayed alive, if Ghondor was better at trying to change her path, so many whats ifs thatif one or two things went better she wouldn't have ended up on this path , still feels werid having this as a missable quest tho
As much as i appreciated doing this quest, it *should* have been Ghondor's ascend quest. Sena's role is very small in there, she doesn't evolve, she hardly has any presence in there contrary to all her teammates in their respective Ascend Quests. Even the last sequence; Monica telling Ghondor it's dinner time, makes it feels like it's Ghondor's quest, not Sena's. Also the payoff is one of the saddest in the game; I'm just repeating what has been told in the game, but this delusion of parenting is horrible to the group. And honestly, this part could have fit in the main plot, because objectively it deals a *huge blow* on their beliefs. Noah's group was determined to set things right after witnessing how beautiful life can be, and then happens Shania's stuff. It was expected she would get reborn since she joined the Keves/Agnus ranks, after all. It feels like Monolith didn't have time to develop this topic as a main plot thing with the whole climax that just happened and considering the urgency of meeting Nia after that, it ended as a Character Side Quest. And actually, it's a feeling i got for the game as a whole; most of the side quests ultimately lead to Colonies making contact with each other and befriending, which considering the game's plot makes it important to focus on, in my opinion!

Her growth teach us that we shouldn't be afraid about having died in another life, which in my opinion is really bland, and the development itself is sandwiched between other character arcs, like Taion's or Noah's. While Sena's kinda did the same, it only happened in a small fragment of just one chapter, not leaving her development open for half of the game.
But she embodies so much more than that she represents a feeling of trying to bring light hearted Ness humor in bad situations and overcoming trauma of different kinds and despite coming off as advantageous sometimes deeply cares about everybody around her and she really gets to shine in non-voice to side quest a lot. Sena does a great job about personal conflict and self doubt and not belonging but it’s never expanded upon as much it’s not that eunie doesn’t get development it’s that her and sena So different that what they represent can be developed in different ways
