Great video, very informative👍 I added a switch for asymmetrical clipping to my drive pedal. To me, symmetrical is ideal for single coils, while asymmetrical sounds better with humbuckers.
These videos are amazing thank you for putting them out you've inspired me to start moding my own pedals I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge my favorite tone has to be the asymmetrical white led at the end I never would have thought a tubescreamer could make a fuzz sound like that
I just got done moding my vox wah because of your videos I barely used it before but now its like a whole new pedal thank you for sharing your knowledge im now about to attempt the ts9
@@Ranger13579se yes the fuzzy squishy sound at the end is just one 3volt LED. I wired one LED permanently to the PCB, one LED on one side of the switch and one silicon diode on the other side. So the center off position is just one LED, one side of the switch is symmetrical, the other side is asymmetrical but not as drastic as using the one LED.
Great work. And informative too, thank you. Part of me actually likes it most without any diodes.... The assymetrical silicon sounds really close to a Boss SD1. Do surprise though as basically that's what it is in that mode. Like combo of germanium and silicon too. Maybe six different variations on a rotary switch. Thank for your great work.
@@jamesmatthews4435 a rotary switch would kick ass if you could get it to fit. I’ve made a handful of pedals for people with an 8 way rotary. My favorite is the Green/Red LED hybrid & (2)1N914/Red LED hybrid. And I really like no diodes as well especially on high gain pedals.
@@walterockmx yes as long as you use an On/Off/On switch for both. That’s basically what I did in the demo video, I make sure one switch is off before activating the other switch.
