@@kanescrimes4848 Not knocking Ace, but they just mimic the geometry of the Indy Stage 3. I've heard that they are great in bowl and pool situations, which make sense, since they were designed in an era before street skating Personally, I've got enough Stage 11s stashed away that I can never find an excuse to buy a pair of Ace and give them a shot, but they have definitely piqued my interest
@kanescrimes4848
@kanescrimes4848 4 года назад
@@manysnakes They pretty much ARE a stage 3. The guy who started Ace worked or co-owned, or was designer for Independent for a long time. For all I know, he could have been the designer of the stage 3? They're definitely great for transition, but I mostly skate street and they've stayed on my board for the last 6 years of street skating,(been skating for 32 years) and I've NEVER locked onto a round rail like I do on Aces(beveled hanger) They don't have much meat, but they don't seem to wear as fast as Indy's either. That might translate to Independent having a faster grind, but I haven't noticed yet. If I can't get Ace's Id get stage 11's. HOWEVER: Independent moved shop across the ocean and I've heard people saying they have slippery axles again like the stage 7 or 8's had. Have you heard anything on that?
@kanescrimes4848
@kanescrimes4848 4 года назад
@@kmrskates Turning isn't subjective. I think you're trying to allude to personal preference. A person may have a personal preference regarding their turning radius, but that is due to human variant not a variant created by the action alone. Less stable? In what way? Do you mean swamp truck? IF SO: That's not less stable as much as it a tighter and more pronounced turning ability that takes getting used to just as every change in skate gear requires some adjustments. This factor is INTENSELY changed with differing washer placements and bushing choices. IF NOT: Then explain what you are trying to imply by "less stable" It seems like you're trying to claim that one is indefinitely better than the other...which negates the validity in your first claim of subjectivity, AND is irrelevant to anything I've said. ...so...??? What is your aim here? What sucks about Ace's: Your ollies will need major adjusting, and have a sloppy feel in comparison to something that widens your wheel base. HOWEVER: If you have a deck with a wheelbase 1/8 longer... See what I'm getting at? Ace's turn better...that's irrefutable. Whether or not a person rides with locked down trucks is irrelevant in regards to my claim. In other words: The subjectivity that you both appealed to AND negated has no affect on the fact of a tighter turning radius. I'm not claiming one is better indefinitely, but I'm DEFINITELY saying Ace's have a tighter turning radius...are you really trying to argue that? You'd have to be REALLY REALLY dumb to try. That'd be akin to trying to argue against 2+2=4. ...and there are no grounds for contending preferences so...?

Started on Indy’s as a kid only truck I had for years then stopped skateboarding for a bit got back into it on a set of thunders I had no idea why I couldn’t skate properly again but battled on getting slightly used to it . Bought another set of Indy’s and that’s when I realised the whole base plate touching deal that’s the game changer , why would you want your wheels hard into the ledge on a tail nose or with in blunt it doesn’t make sense bones stf’s made a big difference from softer wheels but still getting back on those Indy’s saved skating for me I thought I just sucked

Never locked onto a round rail with a beveled hanger?... You're missing out on SO much. ...so sad. Including how light or heavy it feels. The degree of variant a different deck shape can create renders the claims of a specific truck(especially a brand) as too heavy or light is simply unwarranted=implies a lack of experience and/or knowledge regarding this topic...which is exactly what motivated my effort in he first place. That stuff he said about axle-slip is exactly what happened to me while riding Independent Trucks. Both front and back Indy truck had major axle-slippage. It got so bad that I had to bring a little hammer with to tap the axles back into place every time I skated. I could barely even roll as a result of the wheel-pinch (and awful Bronson bearings). The only kingpins I've broken in my 20 years of skating have been Indy's. I've also managed to snap Indy baseplates on spine airs and roof drops. Unfortunately, Indy are easily the worst trucks I've ever ridden. But they have a cool marketing image.

Late reply, but I've been riding Ace for a while now. My last pair was Ace classics, size 44. I went up in board width and am now riding Ace AF1's, size 55. I use the stock Ace bushings and have absolutely zero complaints. They work for me right from the beginning. On Indy I couldn't ride the stock bushings because they took weeks to break in and I ended up breaking Bones bushings just about once a week the last year I was on Indys. Bowls, launch ramps, big drops, and especially curbs are my favorite things to skate. Again, no issues for me on Ace so far and it's been a while.
