This is a Clivia miniate, which is one of several clivia species that are native to southern Africa. They are in the amaryllis group of plants and overall, they look similar. The clivia flowers are smaller but there are more of them. There are various shades of orange, red, and yellow, plus some bicolored flowers. It can grow outdoors in hardiness zones 9 and 10 where it grows in bright shade to full shade. It also makes a good houseplant that can go outdoors for the summer. Indoors it needs bright light but not direct sun. They are very drought tolerant with large fleshy roots holding water.
