Massive potential with these engine and porting heads....with different intake and a Cam.....very few know and those who have the car dont know and even talk down the engine looool.
NOS was installed after header. Definitely fun! There's a 1/4 mile race vid on my channel, vs a 2017 Camaro SS. Close race, mainly because he got a poor start.
Definitely noticeable, only you can say if it's worth ~$2000 (headers+install and ECU&TCU tune). Headers and removal of primary cats make it sound significantly angier, but not obnoxiously so. 0-100 dropped from about 13.3 seconds to 12.5second. I've never driven the car with any other tunes so can't really say, and since the headers were done at the same time can't say which did more. The car doesn't feel massively quicker but the sound is better IMO (better flow, and only 2 cats instead of 3) and it does seem to shift a bit more crisply. Pretty happy overall, the Eurocharged guys are pros.
kedelbach in your video vs the camaro did you use shifters in M or just gassed it in S and was traction on or off... looking to get better numbers although I am stock
traction control off (but not in "dyno mode" so not 100% off), auto mode "s", just stomped on it. Nothing to be gained shifting yourself, and the torque converter and gear ratios worked well to hook up the all-season tires. At that track at least. What kind of time/trap speed are you seeing?
Stock CLK55's that I've seen dynoed put down right around 300 at the wheels. If you look at the dyno graphs at the end of the vid there are two runs of 297 and 302. I'm guessing those are the pre header numbers and the 322, 324 dynos are the after numbers (at the wheels).
What was the power before these mods? kleemann says about power 415 hp with these mods. catalog.kleemann.dk/catalog/category/byengine/43050043-amg55-amg-v8-m113/
before & after dyno graphs are at end of video. 415 at the crank is pretty optimistic, I got ~325hp peak at the wheels after headers and tune. After installing a Nitrous system it put down ~375hp at the wheels.
check out the dyno curve at 1:35. Peak WHP of 325. Yeah for 400hp+ nitrous is the way to go :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V4wU7H3UGVU.html
kedelbach, I did a screen shot and caught it! Haha. Yeah, these motors were pretty max out once they ended their lives in the 209 CLK and 203 C55. Wasn’t much left in them. Still, 325whp is still great. I think I could maybe get 335ish whp with a little more work but that’s about peak. I’m going into a CLS55 next year anyway.
It's a pretty low tech drivetrain. No variable valve timing, 3 valve per cylinder, slow transmission (which does fine under WOT, but when you merely want to drive briskly it doesn't seem to understand you lol). But such a gorgeous power/torque curve, and the sound once opened up a bit is awesome. They really come alive with nitrous. I'm running a 75 shot Nitrous Express system now and the way it pushes you back in the seat is addictive!
kedelbach, the TCU tune from Eurocharged really helped me love the car more. I’d run nitrous but I’m selling it in about 9 months and my car is cherry. 70k miles, all maintenance records done at Benz, never missed an A or B service, brand new radiator, tranny fluid and diff fluid changes are all recorded, new brake job, brand new Michelin tires. I’m hoping to get decent money for it next year.
sounds like a very good one! We paid $13k for ours earlier this year with 63k miles but no service records and in need of tires and wheel refurb, which I think was a pretty good deal. Think about putting yours on BaT when you're ready to sell. This C55 brought strong money today: bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-mercedes-benz-c55-amg-4/
