Need to fix my own clog in my kitchen sink. All other drains are hungry. So it is odd. But I will find it. Thank you for training the future and helping us today.

I'm a maintenance tech at an apartment complex, so I've unclogged plenty of kitchen pipes because of potatoes, rice, or noodles going down the garbage disposal, but it's always been at the t-joint under the sink. It's crazy how much more solid and compacted it can get down the line. People need to be educated that garbage disposals are not there to replace garbage cans.

this is just the bad and the ugly. I guess it could have been worse if the whole crawl space could have been flooded with sewerage. CB2 share some of your experiences working with dad. How nice is it? Dads wide awake and raring to go in the morning seems to love the job. Do you guys do any surf fishing or other things down the shore? I personally spent a lot of my youth at Island beach state park and Fluke fished in the Manasquan river. I work with a retired NYC firefighter who was in the trade center on 9/11 he was one of the lucky ones. He was ordered to get out of the building. The public should have great respect for our first responders and military, I know I do. Dad gets my respect for what he does. Takes a lot of dedication and family support when he's away doing a shift. Hope you guys have a great 2019.
@chuckbarron6819

It's awesome. Very lucky to be able to learn at this custom rate with both our different schedules. Only difficult thing sometimes is the difference between boss and dad and most of the time we work it out pretty well. He surfs all year around but I really will only go out in the summer because im soft. Ya really a shame first responders are a target in some places. Appreicate the all kind words. happy new year

Thanks Chuck, understandable no matter who you work with their will be challenges. Years down the road your son will look back and tell stories about working with dad. Just the fact he's learning how to handle tools will help him with his own home. Thanks for sharing and have a great 2019.

Chuck the young men will get it, the kids today are quick learners. CB2 looks like he's handling things well. You can tell a lot about someone when you see them handle tools if they are experienced or not. When I interview people I ask them how they would wrap Teflon tape on threads. You'd be surprised how many fumble at that. The trades are going to be short good people so IMO its a great time for your sons to get in on it.

Notice at 5:45 he pulls up a piece of plastic from the ground and says something like, "Ah, I cleaned this last time here with this." That's nice. @rickw4160

it's mid jersey, it gets cold, but not many days are actually below freezing. for the days that are, there's more than enough residual heat from the homes to keep em from freezing... usually. the summer homes are the problem, and the ones who allow too much air flow in the crawl space

Great video as always.Speaking of kitchen sinks the double bowl stainless steel sink in my kitchen was installed without any caulking or plumber's putty around the edge that sits on the counter top which resulted in water seeping between the conter top and the double bowl stainless steel sink down into the kitchen sink cabinet.I know that many of you may be annoyed with me posting but come on,who ever did the work in this house didn't know something as basic as using caulking or plumber's putty between the double bowl kitchen sink and the counter top before they installed it?Now I am going to have to buy a new double bowl stainless steel kitchen sink because the track under the edge of the double bowl kitchen sink which attaches the sink to the counter top with fasteners has rusted out so I have no choice but to buy a new kitchen sink,is that a crying shame or what?The majority of the contractors over here where I live have very negative reputations and rightly so because if contractors are going to do work they should take pride in what they do and do the work properly,otherwise why bother doing the work in the first place?The total failure of that 'extra special" person that installed and attached the double bowl stainless steel kitchen sink to the counter top in this house with a five or six dollar cartridge of caulking or plumber's putty is now going to cost me at least one hundred and twenty dollars plus the cost of the caulking or plumber's putty.I was taught at an early age,because I have always loved fixing things and seeing how things work so I started fixing things and working with contractors and plumbers at an early age,that recommendations are not really necessary if you do good proper work because the work will speak for itself and attract customers.

It all depends on mechanical you are? When I got my first job working for a plumbing out fit. I worked in the warehouse. By the time 8 months had past. I was in one of their trucks doing service on my own. Service plus a bit of common sense. Is really easy. This 4 I inch cast is a two hour job plus material. Throw Chucks grinder away. Buy a good ratchet snap cutter. Two bands approximately 5 fittings. Some straps & he's done.

Based on how poorly he cleans the pipe at around 10:50, I'd say quite a few times. Leaves 25% of the crap in there that's causing the actual clog in the first place. He's cleaning out the bare minimum and not actually clearing the gunk that's causing the backup at that spot in the first place. I mean look at that thing, that's atrocious. The whole right side of the pipe is stopped up with stuff that's completely stuck to the side. But he used his trusty little wimpy plastic pipe to clear out some corn and I guess that's good enough. He literally tries to clean their pipe with some random piece of plastic sitting in the dirt on the crawl space floor. Yikes. Repeat customer. I'm sure they have him on speed dial.

Can someone on this channel please give me some helpful advice? I own a doublewide mobile home with 3 sink's, 2 toilet's and 2 bath tub/shower's. Everything drains just fine all except my double kitchen sink. I've tried plunging it, drano, crystalized lye and even had a friend of mine run approximately 50 feet of cable down it, all of which failed to remove the clog !!! Next I am planning on getting under the mobile home and try to see what can be done to resolve this issue, the only thing is I am not a plumber and don't really know what I'm supposed to do in order to isolate the clog and the best way to clean it out from underneath the home! Would somebody be gracious enough to help me here because I've been having to wash my dish'es in the bathroom sink for the last 2 week's and it's really a pain in the ass when I can't call a proffessional, I lost my job on top of everything else and just can't afford the extra expense right now! Mike, Check in crawl, you may be so clogged that line needs to be cut and cleaned and put back together. Or high speed drain cleaning with water dripping slowly...keep working that cable back and forth....painful but it will break the clog. good luck.

@floydalbright1214
@floydalbright1214 5 лет назад
@@ChuckBarron no experience, I found a kitchen sink drain is the dirtiest drain in the house. And the longer the horizontal run the dirtier. Add ground up food adds to the problem . Most home owners don't run enough water when using a disposal leaving heavy food parts in bottom of drain , after time it starts to damn up . Plastic pipe is "slick " on the inside as you know . Cast is rough , I've had times where the whole run was plugged like quick sand put the cable in and it would start to run pull it back out and the "muck" would fold back in and plug up again. The ugly.

disposals are not dumpsters. people clog up brand new drain lines thinking they take all food and it magically grinds into a fine dust. it never happens. They are trouble from the start...

Chuck Barron Perhaps they are but you could start with telling him particular foods that don’t go into disposers and perhaps add a bigger pipe to take the waste. You can’t just go around telling people they can’t use their disposers then running by and clearing out their lines after ridiculing them because for some reason they can’t use an appliance that the rest of the world can because you don’t feel the need to put in the work to make it useable or care enough to give them tips on how to use it.

chad abuse of disposals is old news. you know if we put in 3 or 4" lines and largest disposal that our wives including mine would still clog it. Im just trying to tell them that they will be calling me back to clear the drain again.

That's what I did in my house. Now people don't think that grease and food can go down the drain.

You have to go where the pipes are. It's better than busting out concrete to get to the pipes.
