bkoz319 any type of sodder underground is not a strong connection. If your going to do anything it should be a braze. But the best is a compression brass coupling and that is it. I have dug a thousand times and just touched soddered fittings and seen then leak.

Here in Denmark I think you’re supposed to have a check valve on the cold going into the water heater (before the relief valve obviously). That would have prevented the back flow of hot water in this case I think. It seems it’s not code the US, I guess?

My heating pipes are one inch copper so if I ever got a leak from one of the heating pipes it would be really great to be able to crimp a new section of copper pipe in place instead of having to solder a new section of one inch copper pipe in place.Please forgive me,I'm not trying to make trouble,I'm just stating the benefits that I see in being able to have an affordable copper pipe crimp tool available to us home owners that are able to do our own small repairs.Usually old valves will not close all the way,especially old curb stops so being able to cut a copper pipe and crimp it to a piece of copper pipe with a new shut off valve attached is fantastic.Then if need be from the valve onward up to where it would be safe to solder the copper pipe or use a solder union.Solder a piece of copper pipe to the union,wait until the joint cools,crimp the soldered union end and use solder fittings on the other half of the copper union from that point on to save money on the copper pipe fittings,what's there not to love?Up until now what I do when valves do not completely shut off and soldering is not an option is to cut the copper pipe and use shut off valves with compression fittings.In fact when I had to change the shower valve in my bathroom there were no shut off valves so I bought two half inch shut off ball valves with commpression fittings for both the cold and hot water lines.I had to do it that way because the space behind the wall of the shower valve is in a closet behind the front of the bath tub making it too tight and confined to solder.shut off valves on the copper water lines.I installed shut off ball valves on all of my plumbing fixtures,before that if and when ever the water needed to be shut off it had to be shut off from the main water line in the basement.I installed shut off ball valves on the copper pipes when I redid the plumbing in this house because there were only two old shut off valves aside from the water main shut off valve which I replaced with a new shut off ball valve.Believe me when I tell you that the plumbing in this house was done and routed improperly,it was terrible.

That Milwaukee crimping tool looks great but the two thousand dollar price tag plus five hundred dollars to recalibrate that crimping tool and then the cost of the fittings for use with that crimping tool is far far too rich for my taste.You have to have plenty of customers and steady work just to break even on that crimping tool.Very good video though.I just looked on amazon and they have some crimping tools that are much more affordable.I may in the near future buy one of the crimping tools that amazon has because there are several areas here in my house where I may need to replace the copper pipe and fittings and soldering is not a very good option due to the copper pipes being too close to walls and rafters although I always saturate the area that I am working on with water from a spray bottle before I solder the copper pipe and immediately after the soldered copper joint is cool enough to douse with water.Again hats off to you and Plumb on Dude!!!

@@ChuckBarron Agreed,but it would be nice to have a crimping tool for people like me that like to do their own repairs.I still have a few places where I need to change the copper water pipe.It would be much much better for me if I could use a crimp tool instead of having to solder the copper pipe.There are copper pipes near the PVC drain pipes that I installed to replace the copper drain pipes and I am definately not going to solder copper pipe near the PVC drain pipes that I installed.Maybe ten or so places where I would need to crimp the copper pipe,for small jobs like that a much more affordable crimp tool would be great.Here is a copper pipe crimping tool that I may buy from amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B01CY6UEH6/?coliid=IJOJGP3JJ9FG1&colid=34MLV0FB6YHXA&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Plumbers need to make a living too but even so don't you agree that home owners should have the where with all to do small jobs themselves if it's possible?In very tight places the crimp fittings can be lined up,test fitted and marked with a Sharpie before the fittings are crimped on the copper pipe then use copper couplings without the stops to join the rest of the copper pipe with the crimping tool where there is more space for the crimping tool to fit,no?
@nelsonechevarria7009
@nelsonechevarria7009 4 года назад
@@ChuckBarron P.S. I had a guy from the water company come over and test the solder joints with a special pencil that turns purple,if I remember correctly,when ever there is lead in pipe joints.Even the copper pipe that was used to connect the water meter has lead solder joints.The "extra special" people that did the plumbing in this house used lead solder not only when they connected the copper drain pipes,they also used lead solder on the water pipes as well.I cannot believe such a thing because 95/5 solder,which is the only solder that is allowed to be used to solder copper water pipes has been around for a long time now so why the "extra special" people that did the plumbing in this house failed to use 95/5 solder for the copper water pipes is beyond me.When I was taught how to solder copper pipe the plumber that taught me made it extremely clear to me that if and when ever I solder copper water pipes I must use 95/5 solder otherwise I can and will face a big fine from building inspectors.You do very very good and neat work,it shows that you take great pride in your work and that is how it should be but many people like to cheat and cut all kinds of corners and do sloppy work then wonder why people never call them back to do more work.

hello Nelson, PLEASE DO NOT WATCH YOU TUBE VIDEOS FOR PLUMBING ADVICE. Please call a local LICENSED plumbing contractor. Do not follow advice from this "plumber" who has time to make videos and has "apprentices" etc wearing shorts! A real LICENSED plumber would know that those fittings he is removing...with chessey pliers are code compliant. ProPress is a very very useful tool in the correct applications …. this is not one of those. This Chuck is a Hack, please investigate his BBB rating etc. BTW the tree … a Chinese Elm maybe is the cause of the true repeted problem. root swelling ,
@nelsonechevarria7009
@nelsonechevarria7009 4 года назад
@@dougbritt2048 Thank you for your advice.I cannot and will not ever "call a local LICENSED plumbing contractor." for several reasons.Reason number one is that the "local LICENSED plumbing contractors" here where I live are ridiculously expensive and do not do good work.Reason number two is that I had the honor and the privilege of working with licensed contractors and licensed plumbers since I was only fifteen years old and I was tought properly.I am fifty nine years old now and I also happen to be a licensed locksmith,I have been a licensed locksmith for quite some time now.I can tell you with great certainty that Chuck does very good work and his videos clearly demonstrate his expertise and the great pride that the man takes in his work."BBB rating etc." as you so put it should not be taken as law because it has been my personal experience that many people no matter how good your work will always find fault with the work done.I once had a customer that gave me big time grief because the customer swore that he knew far better than I and questioned my work at every turn even though I had presented my locksmith license to said customer.With as much calm and respect as I could muster under the circumstance I packed up my lock tools and I told the customer that I was done and that he would have to call another locksmith.As it turned out the other locksmith that the man called after I left wasn't as patient as I was,the next locksmith the man called after I left charged the man double what I was charging for the same lock work and told the man to fuck off as soon as the man started questioning his work.It turns out that the man in question had some sort of psychological problem because he filed unsubstantiated complaints against other locksmiths as well as against plumbers and electricians.Tell me,doug britt,what qualifications with respect to plumbing do you possess which give you the right to come on here questioning Chuck's integrity and slandering Chuck,myself and others on here?Because if Chuck is as you state "a hack" then that is an affront not only to Chuck but to many others such as myself that,like Chuck,have knowledge of plumbing and know what we are doing.
