The Closed Scallop Stitch is another go to stitch that can be used for just about any project. It makes a great baby blanket with it's tight stitches and can be used with most yarn sizes 2-6. The project pattern is a repeat of Row 2, which makes it easy to follow along without having to count stitches. Although it is considered an Intermediate stitch pattern, an Advanced Beginner could absolutely master this stitch utilizing the tutorial showing exactly where to place your stitches.

you stole my heart with this one. The count makes it an intermediate, but once you have the count down, it's a no-brainer stitch. It's a very versatile stitch. Besides 4 DC, I've used 5 DC and put the SC from the next row at the in the top of DC 3. But you have the best explanation of putting the SC in the space between DC 2 & 3 for a 4 count. BTW - this was also my Mom's go-to stitch for her baby blankets and she would even change colors at every row - and that was 30+ years ago! Thank you!!!

As an intermediate beginner, I do pretty well with patterned crochet Stitches, rather than counting (which I terrible at!!)

I do a similar stitch but my mother called it the shell stitch; we used 5 double crochets and put the single crochets in the 3rd stitch on the reverse row, makes a warm blanket /afghan to cover with

I used this stitch for the 23 rectangle s for Warm Up America challenge. I made a red, white, and blue lapghan too. It is so much fun using this stitch. I plan on making a shawl for charity using this stitch, 30" x 60". Thank-you for this tutorial Tiffany! 😊❤️

Thank you Tiffany. I was wondering how I could make a blanket with this design without making the rectangles from your last tutorial. I have to start a Tiffany top for my Mom first. She came for a visit and after trying on mine, she wants one too. Happy belated birthday!!

Tiffany is there a chance you might go a little slower in the beginning of the second & third rows. Just to get it going. I seam to struggle so much on those beginning rows. I guess my old brain just can't keep up with your young one. Love your site and all you do. Thanks

Hi Karen! Actually did you know that YOU can control the speed of my videos. Actually all videos on RU-vid! Click on the settings of the video. This will either look like a gear ⚙️ or the 3 dots in the upper right hand of the video. Click Playback Speed and you can slow down my video as slow as you need. Hope this helps! 😊🧶❤️

I use my video button for speed on my iPad. I don’t have a computer. All of my videos I play on 75% rather than 100%. I’m deaf so it helps me understand a bit better what is being said. Speech slows too. CC puts words at bottom and interrupts what I’m trying to see in stitch methodology. I love watching the actual crocheting and knitting skill. It helps me. Thank you Tiffany. I love your videos so much.

Hi, Tiffany - thank you so much for sharing all your know-how, and pieces of art, with us.!! Can you tell me what brand and size yarn you used for this tutorial.? I want to make this stitch into a large blanket, and that's the size I'm currently looking for. 😁
@CrochetWithTiffany
@CrochetWithTiffany Год назад
Hi there! I can absolutely share with you what I used. This is a size 4 weight yarn, Loops & Thread Impeccable Yarn in color Off-White. But honestly if you want to make a blanket I would recommend using Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn because it is more cuddly. The crochet hook I like to use with this size of yarn is an H/8 - 5.00mm crochet hook. This crochet stitch makes beautiful blankets! I'm excited for you to get started! 😊🧡🧶

Can you please tell me where I can get the pattern or if you have a video for the peace that you are crocheting in the top left-hand corner of your intro. It looks like it’s a mauve color and a white color with a lacy border that you are crocheting. It’s to the left of the small crocheted animals in your intro. Thank you… Love your videos. You are an excellent teacher.
@CrochetWithTiffany
@CrochetWithTiffany Год назад
Thank you so much Juju! Yes! There should be a pattern to all those clips in my intro. I believe what you saw was the White Truffle Throw blanket. If you go to my RU-vid channel and click on Videos you can scroll through all of my projects! 😊❤️🧶

I'm loving this pattern! Question though...how do I finish it off? A border of a couple rows of single crochet???
@CrochetWithTiffany
@CrochetWithTiffany Год назад
That is a great question Nancy. The wavy top and bottom definitely make a border more challenging. You could add a single crochet border but it might flair out the top and the bottom. If you had the ability to flatten out the top and bottom that would be great. Otherwise I would recommend just leaving it be without a border allowing the blanket to stay naturally beautiful with the wave and maybe adding fringe or tassels for accents.

@abigaillopezespinosa8573 Год назад
Can we add a beautiful border to this blanket? Thanks in advance😀
@CrochetWithTiffany
@CrochetWithTiffany Год назад
You sure can! I wouldn't make one Sc in each stitch on the top or bottom. Because of the scallop stitches I might make a Sc in the top of the scallop, chain 2 then Hdc in the Sc stitch, chain 2. Repeat to make the top or bottom straight. After round 1 of the border you should be set up to make whichever border you may want. 😊🧡🧶

Im having a hard time finding the yarn you mention, I hope you can help me, Im making a king size blanket with this closed scallop stitch in black can I purchase the yarn through you?
@CrochetWithTiffany
@CrochetWithTiffany Год назад
Oh wow! That is quite the project right there. Not only making the largest blanket but also making it in black. That’s love right there. Hmm, I looked into it and it looks like Loops & Thread does not have a black color. But a good substitute would be either Red Heart With Love in Black or I Love This Yarn in Black. The skeins are much bigger as well and hold a lot more yarn so you’ll be able to get more yarn to work with for you money and for this large project. I hope that helps. Unfortunately I am not selling yarn at this time. But when I do you’ll be able to find it on my website www.crochetwithTiffany.com
