CLOSET CLEANOUT + DECLUTTER FOR 2023 

everytime I do a closet clean up, I find myself binge watching minimalism videos so I never have to again haha

My advice is to put a deadline on the alter section. If you can’t get to it in time it’s okay, you’re too busy and you can donate them knowing that you tried. And if you can alter them in time than great, I’d love to see the video.

I've seen great comments about how to approach your alteration pile and I just wanted to add that it isn't to be underestimated how much it can weigh on you to have too much on your "to do" list no matter how much you think it's "not right now so it's just in a to-do list somewhere down the line". Something that you eventually want to check off is still taking up space in your brain, and each piece of alteration is it's own task, not lumped into one task of "alter clothes", so that's a lot of stuff to do! My suggestion is that when you do sit down to alter a bunch of your clothes (say, after getting spammed by followers to do a video haha), if there are any clothes you look at, even while you're in the middle of that task, and you realize you're NOT stoked about altering it, just donate it! Keep things to alter that you're excited to alter into a new clothing item, rather than rack up work for yourself. Be free!!! Some times not all of those clothes are worth altering. Good luck!

My mom always said when you’re altering clothes, give yourself a deadline. So it has to be altered within three months, six months, whatever to hold yourself accountable.

Great idea to declutter before your move! I did the same and it made packing and moving soooo much easier (And also that means more room for more clothes!)

My favorite thing about your closet clean out videos is the mirrored closet doors exposing you i.e. the person filming, talking to a camera by yourself, the piles of clothes, etc (it feels like a blooper and i love it)

A little advice: only keep things to alter that you LOVE because if you only feel meh about it, it will be hard to find the time and motivation to alter it. Just because it has potential, doesn’t mean your should spend your precious time on it… only if you love it!

I think it’d be a good idea to go through all the clothes you want to alter and pick ones that you’re excited about, not that you feel obligated to fix. Then from there, pick out a couple that are easy alterations to get to momentum going. Also - the knit T-shirt could be dyed :)

One thing I’ve been living off of when shopping/deciding if I should keep clothes is if it’s not a fuck yes, then it’s a fuck no and I don’t need it and it has really saved me. If I don’t like how it fits me or the quality or the design or whatever it is, I will not wear it and I’ll wear something that does check all the boxes.

I've bee. wanting to go through my clothes and and clean out what I don't need, where, or want. But this makes me want to do it even more😆😆

Use a clear bin so you can see through it and it acts like a drawer, so you can take it in and out without having to dig behind or mess up your nice little rows

set aside one day a week or every other week where the only thing you do is alter your clothes. maybe that will help you actually alter them

What I do to keep my closet with space is to keep in one luggage clothes from other season like if its winter i keep summer clothes in the luggage bc I won't be using them, and viceversa!!

We in pakistan when its cold we put the summer cloths in a big cabinet which is in store it is very useful really and set winter cloths in closet that is easy and space saver

omg JEN! I'm begging you, this is gonna sound crazy, but if you haven't donated the colorful sweater yet, would it be possible for me to buy it off you?
