I buy Dollar Store shoe boxes with lids. I stack them in the cupboard with pencils, glue sticks, crayons, glue bottles, all desk supplies-paper clips, rubber bands, etc. It is easy to find things and easy to keep things sorted. At the end of the year I make care packages of whatever supplies don't fit in shoeboxes. I then start the year with important supplies ready to use. Because you are looping most families will appreciate that there is a stock of supplies ready for next year. I also buy bigger bins with good lids that stack. I can put bigger items in them and everything looks neat, especially on open shelves. You could also send parents information in your welcome letter to let them know what you already have lots of. I was glad I started collecting bins when I first started teaching. Moving rooms has also been so much easier with stackable standard bins.
The sight word cards are from Journeys. I put a colored mark on the back of the number tiles for the hundred boards. I used a different color for each bag. That way if you find one on the floor you know what set to put it in.
This was my first year and the other teachers said we share supplies so on the supply list, they asked the parents to not write names on the supplies. But now I see that they asked for way too much stuff. But I am moving up to second grade, so everything will be different.
Yes ! I was so surprised that we were allowed back in the building so quick. Distance learning ended last week and it went pretty well! Most of my students completed their work and returned their packets each week. They also read a ton on epic.com!
You could paint the back of the number squares for the 100 boards so that if they are mixed in you can easily separate them back into their colour sets!
You're welcome! I'm sooo glad you like them! I love being able to make them. It's so much fun talking about teacher stuff with other people who are just as interested and excited about it as I am.😊 I am hoping to get a video up every Friday at least from now on.
You are so lucky that you still get to go to your classroom. I haven’t seen mine since March 23rd and because they “deep cleaned” and “sanitized” over our spring break they totally moved every singe thing. Everything was piled on top of and in between my lab stations. So it was left a huge mess. I would so love to be able to go and get resources that I could use but we are banned. they tell us we may not be able to get in till July. Just adds to my stress level.

One of my teacher friends has students Lee a personal word wall in a composition notebook and put one letter per page. Then at the end of the year they get to take it home with them.
3x12 packs of glue sticks is crazy! I would definitely have that conversation with your grade level team. I think it’s a bit excessive, but I’ve never taught the lower grades so I may be wrong about how much they get used.
I did mention it to the teacher who has taught the longest and taught at our school the longest. She didn't agree 😌. Another one of the teachers says she can never have too many. I am just remembering how hard it was to even find time to do enough crafts to use that many. I do want to do a few more craft type activities this next year, but will still not need that much. I even had a station where they used glue sticks almost every day. I guess I can just prepare to send some home again next time.
Yay yay yay!! So happy to see another video! 😊❤️ I worked with those 10frame magnetic boards as part of my Math AMSTI training this semester! Do you guys use AMSTI in your district? Your room is still as happy and fun as ever! I hope year 2 will be less stressful and go smoothly!
We are not even allowed in our classroom. Yucky you get to go to yours. The last time I was in my room was March 12. Not even sure we will be able to get in until Aug.
Thank you for your comment! I found your store. Thank you for sharing it, and for your idea, but the products are just not my style. Good luck with it though!
Hey Sarah loved your video, I know closing down your classroom was hard. I closed mine down this week and I was almost in tears. Check out my video on my channel.
