Clothes Dryer Heating Element Re-string 

Thanks so much. Was trying to figure out how to get that darn center bearing thing off and you just popped it right out. I'm just going to restring the element though since you made it look so easy.

1. Add fresh grease to the back bearing cup (ball and socket), 2. Pre-stretch the heating element to the diameter needed so when installed, there is no spring tension. Otherwise the element will burn out faster due to combination of spring tension and heat, 3. As you discovered at the end, no need to remove the rear bearing from drum. It all just lifts out with a little extra force on the bearing end, 4. Bend the electrical tabs of the element to keep from pulling out of the insulator, 5. Don't lubricate idler pulley and any rollers. After a while the lubricant dries out and makes matters worse. Been there, done that. Just remove wheels and clean mating metal parts with rubbing alcohol or some other clean drying solvent.
