True. It demands you to understand it and be cerebral enough to get the message of it. @lah lahh clearly you didnt understand it at the first time which isnt bad. just watch it again as long as you are interested in it.
@@gardenshock51 It can be confusing, the first time through, with six storylines and most of the actors playing multiple roles. But if you watch it a couple more times, you will understand. The author of the book says that one of the main themes is about how people prey on each other, (and of course, the various ways in which one can respond).
This movie is seriously underrated. People these days just want explosions and guns, but this story has meaning to it. Apparently, some viewers did not listen to the editor when he said, "I believe that if you, dear reader, could extend your patience for just a moment, you will find that there is a method to this tale of madness."
@@ShadowSonic2 i think they did it that way 'cause they were their reincarnations, so using the same actors would give the spectators clues about it. Or that's what I think
As much as I love my favorite scenes, the beginning of Cloud Atlas seems to slip off to the back of my head. Now watching it again, I find it mesmerizing.
I can't believe I'm saying this but this movie was actually good. Like, really good. Surprisingly good. Great performances, tight pacing (for being 3 hours!) and a really well done narrative plot that jumps around but doesn't feel convoluted.
Grandiose, expansive, swirling, captivating, enticing, surprising, mesmerizing, amazing, incredible, dreamy, romantic, fantastic... the adjectives can go endless, and no matter how many you can use, they won't be enough for describing this beautiful movie.
„The first time we met eye to eye“ There is so much meaning behind this line. On the one hand, it implies that he met with Adam Ewing, since Zachrys „first“ incarnation was Dr. Henry Goose; on the other hand he really means Old Georgie who wears clothes reminiscent to the clothes of Adam Ewing. So the parts of Goose and Zachry are basically antagonisms. Adam Ewing = Hero of the 1849 story Dr. Henry Goose = Villain Old Georgie (whose clothes look like Adam Ewings clothes, the cylinder and the black suit) = Villain of the 2346 story Zachry = Hero
@@Castielproduction2023 i do not care if you care about it. its just something i noticed. That the circle is completed with Old Georgie and Adam Ewing.
@@Castielproduction2023 Oh ok, thank you. Its just something that completes the circle of Cloud Atlas (The similarity of Adam Ewing and Old Georgies clothes)
If this were a TV series, this would be the teaser before the opening credits and not put into full context until the last five minutes at the end of the season.
+eyyodc He has been in so many great movies but this is by far his best. I hope he looks back one day and realizes how meaningful a performance he gave in this and that many of us were truly touched by it. . It was written off by some critics as being self-aggrandizing but anyone that watched closely can see that it is a special performance full of nuance.
I've always liked movies like this they make you think. Had a good cast and the story keeps taking from time to time and person-to-person. I just want to see it again. I like shows that make you think make you think about things you might not think about. I loved it!
@@EveRosell Did you read the novel or any of Mitchell's other stuff? Because the movie absolutely butchered the material, the nested egg format, and pretty much every salient point. Tom Hanks was particularly awful. The guy made to look Korean was risible. It's a mess.
@@GozerTheGozerian oh, I see now, your state is "if you disagree you did not read the book and my opinion is the most valid out here. Also, that one actor I dislike for some reason is the worst". Guess this book did not give you much insight even after reading, huh.
I just watched this movie for the first time, knowing beforehand that it had mixed reviews. After watching it I can honestly say it's one of the most underrated movies ever.
Yeah, he said it was his favorite, too. There's a video on RU-vid from a Canadian film festival (tiff), of a conference they held during the first screening of the movie, and he explains the reason hilariously. 😅
Wait until you hear about the future affecting the past, lol. Seriously, rewatch and then watch video essays that go over the themes and the connections.
