95,000 Candela peak beam intensity (With 18350)
1000 Lumens output (With 18350)
40 minutes run-time (With 18350)
Length 4.88"
Surefire M340 DFT advertised stats:
650 lumens w/ SF18350; 350 lumens w/ 123A lithium
RUNTIME
45 minutes w/ SF18350; 1 hour w/ 123A lithium
PEAK BEAM INTENSITY
95,000 candela w/ SF18350; 55,000 candela w/ 123A lithium

5:44 Output over runtime is why I appreciate the testing you and the Werkz Holsters guys put out. Great comparo as always

Excellent review! I was actually shocked to see the drop off of the CD after that little time. Both are great options but that really did change my perspective. Appreciate your time and effort into giving us some unbiased data!

No one runs a light that long unless you’re in combat or a very hostile night situation. That’s why we have nods or light vision binoculars.. no one needs to walking around like they are walking to their deer stands with a damn tactical light

I don't do forums much anymore, so I appreciate ya putting reviews like this out on RU-vid. The step down with the 18350, is pretty substantial on the Cloud. That changes my perspective on it for sure. Thanks for the tests, man.

That's so interesting and weird that they have the Rein Micro step down so damn hard compared to the Rein 3.0. I don't remember the Rein 3.0 full size stepping down like that at all. Btw, thanks to your info I ended up buying a rein 3.0 in Coyote Brown on amazon, (the optics planet OPMOD version, which I never pictured myself buying ANYTHING from their OPMOD bs, but this coyote brown anodizing seems like it'll be sweet.) I already had the Surefire M640DFT, and I really had to figure out for myself whether or not the greatly increased spill and flood is actually going to be a liability for me and the sorts of shooting I do. I appreciate the excellent output of the Rein 3.0 and I greatly prefer its driver settings vs. the surefire. I want a light that goes as hard as possible until it dies, vs a light that slowly whittles away its own output until it dies over a much longer period of time. I want a light to perform consistently and then change the batteries when it dies; not have a slowly dying and slowly dimming light that starts dimming as soon as it starts losing power. I felt like it was only able to maintain full output (with breaks for temperature reduction) for like 30 minutes total runtime before it started getting noticeably weaker. So then you gotta decide if you wanna keep running it weakly or swap out the battery for a new one, and then now instead of having gotten the full use out of two batteries, you really only ended up getting the full use out of one battery total, and 2 halves that are too weak and are now only circumstantially useful. I don't want to have to 'time my needs' around the driver's output curve. But I do also find the flood and spill on the rein to potentially be really counterproductive depending on my foreground. But I figured I'd just pick one up through amazon and try it out just to know for myself.

Cloud has said that they limited the micro for battery life reasons. I tested this by putting a FS head on a micro body. Indeed, it lasted much longer before stepping down.

Fantastic review. Any chance of a micro 3.0 reign and full size 3.0 comparison?
@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews
@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews Год назад
The main difference is the 3.0 is a little more powerful i ln the lumens department, and the head is allowed much higher temps as I recall. Its a very hot running light, and I find it interesting that the Micro is much more controlled.

+1 on this, I’m considering if the weight savings are worth it but I don’t recall the rein 3 stepping down as much as this rein 3 micro has to the point that the stepped down sf turbo has more throw while the rein maintains more spill. Unsure but iirc the rein 3 had more throw and spill than the turbo whether fresh or stepped down right? But it ran hotter and shorter?

The 3.0 was a very hot running light, but it was the output king, imo.@@gob7116

@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews how does the modlite okw compare to these in regards to thermal regulation and dropping output?

Just get the full size. It’s super light and you won’t regret your decision

So does the rein only drop like that when you run it continuously?
@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews
@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews 8 месяцев назад
Yes, but a quick off and on restarts it near full. It does drop quicker, subsequently, though, until allowes to fully cool. I did a short video of this.

Can I ask you’re opinion. I live on a farm every once and awhile you have to grab the 12 gauge n run out into the dark to save a animal would you say the rein would be slightly better for the spill factor or am I over thinking sorry for the silly question in advance n appreciate you taking time out of you’re day
@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews
@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews 11 месяцев назад
Not a silly question at all. I use my lights for the same thing. That said, there are multiple factors, here. 1) I am of the opinion that due to the batteryjack, the Cloud product will tolerate 12ga recoil better. However, MOST of that recoil is going to be focused on the head of the light. For this reason I prefer MICRO/MINI lights in 12ga applications because the battery mass is significantly less than (2) CR123's or an 18650. 2) Spill helps a lot, as often predators on the farm are pack animals. It would be nice not to miss one, and the CD REIN 3.0 does have more spill than the Surefire. 3) I would consider a 5.56 carbine, as often threats will present, run, and then look back at you. They are curious. They may or may not be out of shotgun range at this time unless you are using slug. I have killed many a coyote who pulled this move.
