The reason for the hair being different is that ingame versions are essentially alpha planes, while for a 3D print they had to make it as sculpted geometry. So they rebuilt it by reference.
I know people love to bash square for their figures but this one looks great and I think they are improving. I don’t understand why people still don’t like this one either. I think it looks great. I don’t LOVE the hair tho.
I totally agree with you. From what I have seen on reddit and comments is that comparable to other brands, SE's stuff is mainly bad relative to its price, which I also agree with. However buying all of these recent Static Arts has felt a bit like playing the lottery. You kinda have to get lucky to get a decent one. Out of the 5 in my collection, 3 arrived with issues. 🔧
Im thinking of getting this. I normally only collect 1/4 or 1/3 scale statues but no idea if Square will even license FF7 statues. I wish Cloud had a set of green eyes for the mako but still such a nice piece.
Whenever I look upon the 44 Cloud figures/statues in my collection, this is currently the one that my eyes drift to the most. He will look tiny next to your proper statues, but he could easily replace your Play Arts Kai Cloud. 😀 There exists an official 1/4 statue of Cloud, manufactured by Kotobukiya in 2008, but it is from Advent Children and is said to be very fragile.
@@corydonclavoI have this figure from Kotobukiya (a second-hand figure, Cloud with Fenrir) and I can confirm, Cloud's left leg is broken and I had to fix it with super glue.
So I live in Canada & u cannot find these anywhere so I had to purchase from square Enix site which is in USD. I got the static arts today and it was $320 (CAD). Never again lol. But would you say it’s better than the play arts Kai version of cloud? I wanted to get cloud play arts Kai but his face looked kinda weird. I’m not really into play arts, I own some play arts Kai figures from final fantasy 15 but I don’t rlly touch them or switch there positions as I don’t care to so I found the static arts to be better choice for me. Plus I found that static arts of cloud looks a lot more like him than play arts
Why not buy it on ebay? Most of them go for little more than $200 CAD over there. I prefer almost any static figure over the Play Arts Kai. The joints look ugly and I don't like dealing with them. So this one is definitely better in my opinion. 😁
Okay let me start by saying that cut at the end was absolute perfection. 😆Also your collection is amazing! I had no idea this figure had released! I was following US release dates so I thought I had to wait until the end of the year. Square-Enix did an amazing job. My only fear is we won't see the entire party released in this line. I feel that the Static Arts line of characters are super random. I mean we got five dress variant figures (two sitting figures) before a legit Cloud. Fingers crossed they provide everyone. Heck at the very least Vincent (which I have a feeling we'll see). But Tifa would be so nice. Oh and did you see we are getting an updated figure of Tifa in the Play Arts Kai line? Yay!
Thanks a lot! 😁 Yeah, the western release dates are absurdly late. Shipping from Japan to Europe usually takes about a month, but that's still waaay quicker. I can almost guarantee we won't see the entire party released in this line. I have been dreaming about Barret, Cid and Cait Sith Static Arts, but I don't see it happening. The favouritism for certain characters is insane. Out of the 222 unique figures in my collection, only 3 of them are Cid figures, the biggest of which is a keychain from 1997. Comparatively I have 44 Cloud figures, 31 Sephiroths, 24 Tifas and so on. Static Arts giving us 3 Tifas, 2 Clouds, 1 Aerith and 0 Barret kind of reflects the unevenness of my collection and what has been released.
@@corydonclavo Yeah, that's insane! It's sad too because there's certainly a market for these guys... especially FF7 characters. I wonder if this is by design to get us collectors locked in with Play Arts Kai. I only have a few PAK figures (Cloud, Barrett, and Cloud Advent Children) but plan to get the entire party. Had it not been for the Static Arts Cloud, I was prepping to get Red 13 or Aerith next. With news of an updated Tifa, I know I need to get these guys soon so to stay on top of these releases. Again, I really enjoyed your video and your reply even more. It's so much fun talking to a fellow collector... especially one with more knowledge than myself.

LOL HAHAHAHA they changed the hair cause u cant use that type of virtual hair in physical... So they had to remodel it and the artist in charge of that has to try his best to follow the references he gets but well I guess it looked Cloud Like enough so it got approved. Like its 80% Accurate... thats what they usually aim for.
I can't say for sure since I don't have the Ver. 2 yet. I'm sure with enough force you *could* do anything, but I would assume it's not supposed to come off. Since none of the Cloud PAKs so far has come with exchangable heads or faces. 🤓
I think the hair follows the OG cloud where the left strand is longer than the right (facing cloud). To me it’s good since this should be the way his hair should be but I do agree that there should be more than one strand on the left side though. His face here in this figure is the best I can get on a figure since I can’t afford the gametoys cloud. This is even better that version 2 cloud PAK.
gametoys>static arts>ac pak>ver 2 pak remake. no matter what angle you look at this figure it all screams cloud. love the eyes. everything you said bout the hair is spot on, he looks like he just got a haircut and this is what he looks like a month before the remake game took place. I wish that the strands at the back is a lil bit longer and the hair strands on the left side has more strands. but overall I give this a 9.5 while gametoys gets an 9.8 and PAK gets an 8.5.
