Link VS Cloud (Legend of Zelda VS Final Fantasy VII) | DEATH BATTLE! 

Yo Dai here, one of the animators for this Deathbattle. Wanna thank the Deathbattle team for allowing us to animate this rematch using Blender. It was one of the hardest projects I've ever worked on, but it was worth it. Hope you guys like more what the Blender team has in store.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am totally convinced that Link started this fight just because Cloud was going five miles over the speed limit.

I can’t get over the fact that Link stopped fighting just to smash some pots, my man

The fact that Cloud cares about that garden pot more than Link makes me laugh everytime

I like how when it starts to rain you can hear link playing the ocarina. That was a nice detail that i noticed

Cloud: *survives a Supernova to the face* Zack: *dies from bullets*

Best part was link stopping to destroy the pottery, and Cloud catching pottery to save it.

Such a little but neat detail is when the song of storms was not just part of the score, but altered the weather in order for Link to draw power from lightning. Love that.

I already guessed that Cloud would have won. But honestly for Link being just a human vs a literal superhuman he put up a good fight.

Is it wierd that the part where Link cannot stop himself from smashing the pots even though he is in the middle of a fight and Cloud going out of his way to save one of them is among my favorite parts of this episode?

They forgot the most important rune of all: the camera rune.

The track is called "Final Breath" that's a solid name

The only reason why Link lost is because they didn't include his speedrunner form

Seeing Link die in this isn't as bad or impactful to me considering all the torture and deaths I've put him throughout the 4 years of Breath of the Wild.

I like how Cloud sees Link on the motorcycle after him and he’s like “him again”

I'd love to see this fight again now that Link has Tears of the Kingdom to draw on. Mechs aren't on par with summons but it'd still be fun to see Bahamut and ToTK mechs trading lasers, at least until the mech's batteries ran out.

I knew link was losing once he grew. Usually whoever uses the big move first loses in death battle

We all know why link lost. He forgot to grab the mid-dungeon item that can defeat cloud.

I feel like speed scaling in death battle often doesn't reflect how fast the characters really are, like in that world are the laser beams and lightning attacks really as fast as ours? or with Cloud if he can scale to a creature who can move across the solar system in like 10 seconds then couldn't he have instantly travelled across the continent in his search of sephiroth if he is anyway scalable to that. I don't really have a solution, but I just feel these kind of speed scaling often gives a result which makes a character seem way faster than what they are otherwise represented as being in the game.

I love that Cloud cares about property while Link is just vandalizing everything in sight lol 😅

When Link dodges the laser it's a predictive roll, not a reflexive roll. Big difference.

Link stopping to break pots/vases mid-fight is such a hilarious break in his character. The look in his eyes as he dashes towards the first pot makes me lose it every time.

That's the single most brutal Omnislash I've ever seen. Even Sephiroth wasn't cut in half

I kinda wish you guys would stop equating dodging lasers as feats of speed. That's more of an anticipation in most cases. Or, automatically assuming a defeated enemy that can go super fast somehow means the fighter can too.

Fun fact: Cloud has the most player-controlled appearances of any character in the Final Fantasy series, and the second most appearances altogether, behind Gilgamesh.

Link/Cloud: *clash swords against each other* Ganondorf/Sephiroth: *starts laughing at them*

This really hit on the fact that Link is a mischievous fairy child who just shows up, starts a fight, breaks pots, can just somehow duplicate himself. He's embodying Fae energy through this whole fight and I love it. even the transformation into Fierce Deity was like him taking the mask off and revealing his "true form" as some terrifying Fairy warrior. (despite that he puts a mask on to do this)

So I just want to point out a few things that seem to have been left out of Link's armory: The Mirror Shield, capable of reflecting energy including all magic; the Pegasus boots and seeds which each significantly increase his speed; the Bunny Hood, also capable of increasing his speed; bomb arrows, not a significant threat to Cloud but still too effective for him to ignore; Cryonis pillars in the rain can even emerge out of mud and make excellent cover; Daruk's protection is an impenetrable barrier, as is Nayru's Love (I can see why those weren't included); and then there was no inclusion of the Hidden Skills like the shield attack that could've put Cloud off-balance every time he struck the shield. You know Link is good with that technique when he uses it to reflect lasers without the Mirror Shield

I just love how when Link was smashing pots, he used one as a weapon. At that point, I didn’t care who won I just loved the accuracy of that

First deathbattle: Sure Cloud is strong, but he has no way to keep up with Link's arsenal. Second deathbattle: Sure Link has a huge arsenal, but there's no way he can keep up with Cloud's speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

Man Link has some serious hammer space, even compared to an FF character. Also Cloud catching the pot like a tennis ball on his sword was pretty great lol

Real reason Link lost was because he was fighting with his right hand

A nit-pick I have is how the fight starts. Link doesn't go around hunting people down. I think a better start would be a person in Midgar asking Cloud to stop the "Jar smashing menace."

The bit with link breaking pots and cloud trying to save them is priceless

This death battle is so strange. There are several times where we have Link use his powers in the least effective way possible just so the fight continues. Ie: uses ancient arrows but shoots the bike instead of Cloud, uses stasis but just stands there instead of actually doing something during the time freeze, and then he uses the invisibility cloak to do nothing? These are the kinds of things I expect to see from the death battle combatant that ends up winning, to show how many powers they have over their opponent and how many ways they could win, but he lost in the end?

I would like to point out that in the lore, BotW Link didn't just get timed abilities from the Champions' spirits, he got their abilities themselves transferred to him. For example he should be able to heal whoever he wants, create air as he pleases, and spam Daruk's Protection like the people who were born with those powers.

Y’all kinda forgot links armour stats, like the barbarian armour greatly increases links strength, or the thunder helm which makes him completely invulnerable to lighting, and how the champions tunic has insane durability

14:55 people were complaining about mipha's grace, how it wasn't used, but you can see mipha's magic and her voice here, link died but mipha saved him

Cloud won because he had something to protect... In this case, Cloud protected pots from LINK THE POT DESTROYER!

Not a fan of how Mipha’s Grace was the only Champion ability that Link could use in this battle, Daruk’s Protection easily could’ve Link the edge of used sparingly, also Link’s Bullet Time ability was completely ignored, which is very weird considering the first time he shoots and arrow at Cloud is when he’s in the air, if Bullet Time was considered then Link could end the battle quickly

I love how all the different Link's seemed to have unique personalities

It's ironic that in the original Cloud vs Link DB, the Link fanboys couldn't wait to make toxic posts provoking FF fans. Now the same fanboys are here with the same toxicity because Link lost. Why can't you just enjoy the amazing video that was created and keep your BS to yourself?

Final Breath is one of the best DB themes that's been produced by Brandon. So glad he's been able to provide bangers for DB for years now.

This was epic, my two favourite protagonists and I'm happy with the analysis, great video.

Plot twist: They are fighting because they argued who crossdressed better

This has to be the most visually stunning battle for me. Link catching the lightning, Cloud rising in the fire, Fierce Diety rising from the rubble, Cloud in the moon, and the final 9999 were all poster worthy. It was beautiful

Everyone keeps saying Link was breaking Aerith's" pots but if you take a closer look, those pots have the Gerudo symbol on them.

A year later and while I still think Cloud could beat normal Link, there is NO SHOT he beats the Fierce Deity. You can scale Fierce Deity far above Majora, the same Majora who can be scaled to Dimensional/Universal (as Termina is a separate dimension from Hyrule, think of it like a pocket dimension, similar to the one Sephiroth creates for his Supernova attack). This Majora is also able to move in-between dimensions (the "inside" of the moon) that have no time (time does not progress "inside" the moon) ergo he should also have immeasurable speed to be able to move without time, or at the very least, can't be frozen by time stop (also in the Majoras Mask manga, it is specifically described as a "world" within Majora, so no it is not actually the moon). This Majora obliterates the Hero of Time if he is not stopped, there is 0 chance for Link to survive the destruction of this dimension besides rewinding time. This is the same Link who possesses 1/3rd of the Triforce, an artifact capable of creating a Universe, so it's not too much of a stretch that Link could have the attack potency of 1/3rd universal (or multi galaxy. I'm not saying he can destroy multiple galaxies, only that he has the strength to harm those that could) and this is also a Link post OoT, so he should scale above any feats performed in that game including defeating Ganon fully powered by the well, Triforce of power which just like Courage is another third of the triforce, the object that created the universe. Even if you don't believe that scaling, the triforce of power *alone* was enough to create Hyrule/Earth and was able to save Ganon from what would've been a fatal blow. Tl;dr OoT Link alone scales above Ganon, who scales to planetary at lowball and 1/3rd universal (multi galaxy) at highest. Said Majora is able to one-shot this Link if his plan is not stopped. In the games, The Fierce Deity takes very little damage from any of Majora's full strength (in the manga, he doesn't take *any* damage, able to completely tank a direct energy blast), this is again the same Majora who is able to create and/or manipulate entire Dimensions as well as destroy said Dimension at full power. Fierce Deity *bullies* Majora. In conclusion, while I'm not saying TFD would one-shot Cloud or anything, I highly doubt Cloud could defeat TFD, especially if we go by Deathbattle rules and use a comp-link, who should have all his other items, equipment, feats etc. So, in theory, you could say give TFD the Sheikha Slate, the Goron Bracelets, Mipha's grace etc. At that point, Cloud has no shot.

There was no way Cloud could have won if he didn’t save the pot, who repaid him with OP powers.

One thing I hate about death battle is the way they do speed feats. They always take little quirks of animation or one off dumb un thought out remarks and act like they’re consistent abilities. I mean the so called “laser” Link dodges is not moving the speed of light, assuming hyrule physics even work the same as ours, and It sure as hell doesn’t seem like link is moving 1/10 the speed of light in the dodge animation. Compare his speed to an in game arrow and we’ll probably get a thousand paradoxes with arrows all moving 1/20 the speed of light or some nonsense. I feel like there is a certain amount we can’t take literally with stuff like this. (Edit also I don’t even think it’d be possible to dodge a laser after it was fired, since you’d have to know it was coming, which relies on sight, and lasers move just as fast as any light which could reach your eye, unless link has magic clairvoyance or something)

Adore the idea of bringing a Link that just has everything every Link has ever had, would love to see him in more matches but using more he's abilities rather than skipping to Fierce diety mask which i also think it's too big here, it's just adult Link with a blade that shoots beams

I don't think it's necessarily fair to equate someone's base speed for running or flying to the speed of reflexes in combat. Usain Bolt could most likely outrun Bruce Lee no problem, but would he be able to block punches and kicks from Bruce? Very unlikely. They do this in almost every video and it always bothers me. There should be different statistics for movement speed vs reflex speed.

Reality: Navi's constant *hey listen* causes cloud to unalive himself Link overcome with guilt does the same... The winner? Navi by annoyance

I didn’t even care who would win, this battle was lit! Especially when Fierce Deity Link rose up from the rubble! Hearing the power in those footsteps and his approach was just Godly!! Awesome job animators!
