I found another solution just with tissue paper. No need of UV light and no frequent water change. It works well for me for last 3 months. If interested, you may watch video
After 20 hours of highly opinionated videos, I found yours. Search over. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!! This literally explain led my life this week. Wish I had found you earlier!! Great stuff!!
Just got my First ever 37 gallon fish tank. Added 4 fish, tank got cloudy , and now I know why. Gotta get me a test kit. Thanks for sharing indeed. Now subscribed and notified .
BEST ADVICE EVER! Thanks for getting to the point and explaining the science of the cloudy water issue in a simple way. My tank is now crystal clear. Your channel is a breath of fresh air unlike other "experts" who provided long winded videos that gave lame advise. Subscribed and thank you...
Bless. This is exactly what I needed. I've had a 40 gallon bow tank for over 10 years. I got so used to seeing it clear all the time. Now I upgraded to a 55 gallon tank and I noticed it was slightly cloudy for the last two days. I panicked for a bit since I hadn't been at this point for a very long time haha. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you sir! Im a new Beta-fish owner and had my betafish Mildred for about 1 week and a half now. (My first fish, Millie, sadly died) I got Millie the day i got my braces! And now Mildred is with me. I cleaned my first time today and i think i did pretty good, i started getting nervous about the water because it looked almost a tad bit cloudy. But after watching a bit of this it helped! Thanks!
After watching many videos with different opinions, finally, I found what exactly I was looking for, a clear message for us the beginners, mainly when falling into panic and then doing the right steps......Do nothing and wait.......... Thank you so much for all your tips and advice.
%100 great info. I've kept fish tanks for 50 years and this is the only way to handle it. Less is more. If you have a way to test and understand the relationships in a tank then testing will illustrate the cycling of the tank. Things like potassium permaginate will indeed clear the water but you are simply prolonging the cycling, adding more chemicals that run a risk of harm.
Just sized-up from a 3 gallon tank to a 5.5 for my beta fish. Remembered my tank water getting cloudy before but just needed a reminder on how to handle the cloudy water. Great video!
I love snails also. They are so cool. They really love cuttle bone as well. My snails are always on it. See the video I did on the cuttle bone. It floats so you have to wedge it somewhere : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R14Y_DsmL3c.html
Thank you so much for the straightforward yet simple advice. I made the foolish mistake of seeing cloudy water after the second day of our 20 gallon tank and changed the filter and did a water change and added some Easy Balance and Aqua safe and some healthy bacteria thinking after a few days it would clear up and not one bit. If only I had been patient and seen this video. I will follow your sound advice and leave the tank alone for the 4-6 weeks and also reduce the feeding to once a day and a little less. I'm so glad I came across this video also and showed it to my son who wanted the fish tank. Thank you again so much!
@@TropicalFishGuy Thank you again and I had the water tested and the local pet store told me that my alkaline level was too low in the tank, so I bought something to raise the level(s) and followed the instruction(s) on the bottle and didn't see much change in the overall color of the tank water at first. So I decided to just stick with your original advice to let the natural cycle occur and cut back on feeding & that's what I'm doing and it's spot on, because the water is now slowly but surely getting a little clearer day by day ,so thank you again for all the information you provided because I truly believe that is what is making the difference in this tank! I like most of the comments I've read on your channel wish that I had found you first BEFORE I did anything different to my tank.
this is such a good video, u literally explained everything i was going through and my concerns on my new tank turning cloudy after 7 days of having the fish in there. helped alot!
Thank you so much!! My son turned 5 & we got him a 20gal tank-3 snails & cloudy water!!! I thought I did something but now know this is natural. Definitely will be stalking your channel from now on
Thank you so much I greatly appreciate it I have a new 75 g tank and like u said I woke up the next morning and the water is chalky looking !!! I really appreciate all your good advice ty ty ty
You made me feel better, I was stressed I bought a new tank, yes, beginner, cloudy tank made me want to scream, thank you for letting me know to relax!!
Watched many, many YT videos regarding the cycling process. This video was definitely the most helpful - less is more, be patient, no need to worry about a cloudy tank. Thank you very much for this to the point, helpful video. Subscribed.
Thanks so much 🙏🏾🙂💖💯 truly appreciated 🙏🏾💖💯 just got 2 brand new 2.5 tanks for my Bettas. I added the sand, plants, water, and conditioner then let them cycle for a couple of hours before adding my Bettas to their individual tanks... however, 12 hours later it was still cloudy 😥 was getting worried and concerned for my new buddies until I came across your video in search of help 🙂 I'll most definitely give it a try 🙏🏾🙂💖💯 thanks again
@@TropicalFishGuy They're great 🙂💖💯 the water cleared up by itself the next day just like you said 🙏🏾💯 thanks again 🙏🏾💖💯 I've got them quarantined right now during our quarantine coincidentally because they started showing signs of fin rot and ick 🥺🥺🥺 I've been treating them with Bettafix and api ick, hope they get better soon.
This def cleared up a bunch for me, no pun intended. I have a somewhat new tank, about 2 weeks old, lost some fish at the start, have 4 glofish in a 10 gallon that has gotten increasingly cloudy over the last 4-5 days. Water tests good & fish are thriving, but I was getting frustrated because I read it only lasts a few days, but mine it still getting cloudier. I did add some safe start but I didn't know how much to do in a tank in the middle of a cycle so I only did a capful for now. Got some water clarifier so hopefully that helps speed up the process.
It can take days to weeks depending on the tank. Don't get frustrated and just let it do it's cycle. Test the water and you may see a spike. It's been 5 days since you posted this comment. How does the water test now?
Tropical Fish Guy I’ve been doing 3 days of 5ml of water clarifier & it’s been crystal clear since yesterday. Finally. Thanks for the reply. Without this video I probably would’ve tried doing too much.
Tropical Fish Guy Ok, since my update yesterday on the clear tank, today I noticed lots of white particles floating in the tank. It was either floss from padding that I was using in my filter or price stickers from the bottom of the fake plants. It was everywhere. So I had to do a 100% water change because it was all in the gravel as well as in the actual filter. The fish were a little stressed from being moved pretty quickly back and forth & I know 100% water changes can be really stressful, but will that effect the cycle considering I had to dump the water out of the filter as well?
Hey man. I think I got a bacterial bloom going on in my aquascape tank. I haven’t add any fish atm. Do I need to add some fish to start the nitrogen cycle? Does the bacterial bloom harm the fishes and also the live plants? Is it okay to supply co2 in the tank like usual? Please answer my question. I really need some answers. It’s my 2nd day for my new aquascape tank and the water is cloudy. I guess it’s my fault adding slightly too much ADA bacter when setting up my substrate. Please help. Thank you :’)
Hi Arif. You added the bacter which is good. It can cause cloudiness since it's bacteria. The cycle starts when there is ammonia introduced. This is commonly done by adding fish. You can add ammonia drops if you don't want to stress the fish out. If you are going to add fish then get some hardy ones like small gouramis, guppies, mollies. I would avoid tetras or other sensitive fish. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much for the video. It help me a lot. I just bought a new fish tank a week ago and it turn into cloudy water. I asked my friend and he said that i need to use bio media and the result is same. Now i found this video and my questions are answered very well. Thank you so much 🤗
Thank you so very much for this information! We have a carnival goldfish that is 8 years old! I just put her in a new aquarium . Such useful information! Thank you!
Yes me too. The same situation when i turn on the water filter+air stone bubble after 48hours my water become a bit cloudy. My tank right now without any fish. Just a fish tank with water filter+k1 media filter+lava stone+air stone.
Shooting Stars Could be organics in the water. It should go away. The best thing to do to know what’s happening for sure is to test your water. You need a test kit anyway no matter what. I’ve got a link in the description for a test kit. Also search for my video on how to test your water.
Thanks, I have a Turtle that makes huge messes... Ive been changing my water and cleaning filters weekly! Now I know to allow the water to go through the cycle.
I sorta went all out and bought a fluval FX 6 and only have a 50 gal tank at the moment, will be getting a 75 or 100 soon though. I am just really trying to educate myself now to get it right
Haha, not such a great set up yet, I don’t have a stand yet, my filter is just sitting next to my tank at the moment. I’ll be getting a stand to put my filter under when I get the new tank.
I’m so glad I found this video! I have recently upgraded my tank, and I thought I had seeded it correctly, but boy was I wrong. My ammonia tests came back at 8ppm after the weekend I’m not sure how all my fish survived!! 😖 I immediately did a water change, and will be testing every other day. Hopefully it will all be under control in the next month or so
Thank you! I was so worried because I used an older fish tank I had but I washed it with soap and water. I also rinsed the old decorations with hot water and used brand new rocks that I also rinsed and I thought I did something wrong, but thank you!!
I needed to see this so bad, me and my "fixer brain" just wanted to redo my entire setup (started yesterday) and when i woke up today the water was still cloudy and i started to freak out. But you explained so well why and that its just to wait out and do nothing calmed me. I will now sit with my cloudy water for a while and get water tests if it doesnt go away
Do water testing is a must and check for ammonia and nitrite spike. If there is fish in tank ammonia 2.5ppm and up must do a water change and bring it down. Nitrite guide line will be at 2 ppm must do a water change if you don't want your fish to die. 15-30percent water change must dechlorinates before adding in water moniter once every 12-24hours . If fish stay at a corner is a very clear sign to water change. Until nitrate build up your system is cycled . Just do the normal 1-2 weeks Water change and water testing . Most people buy fish before buy tank And this is the effort you have to put in Api quick start it can faster the speed of the cycle . It will till spike but not as high when you didnt add in.
Awesome vid man!!! Just got my tank set up 2 days ago and came home from work with a cloudy tank 😂😂 I scrambled and tested ammonia and ph. All were in spec!! So I RU-vidd it lmao!! Answered all my questions!!!
New 20 gallon tank, added beneficial bacteria per recommendation, no fish in tank yet. 2 days later water was cloudy. See a video that this was the bloom and would subside. It did subside. However one week later still no fish and now starting to cloud again. We do have 2 live plants as well. Please advise was hoping to have water checked again and get my girls their fish.
I also learned that it is best to start the cycle without any fish or plants at all. It puts a lot of unnecessary stress on plants and fish while the tank is going through this initial phase. I am not saying it doesn't work for some, but it's very risky. I am going to add API quick start to my dechlorinated water, and filter for a few weeks before I add plants. Once they seem happy, I'll start with some snails, possibly shrimp and lastly fish. I am doing a low tech planted freshwater aquarium. I have been trying to learn all I can and hopefully loose less plants and fish in the process.
I feel soooooo much better! Just setup a 100gal tank and planted it and it is cloudy (yes smokey). Thought I was doing something wrong. Glad to know I just need to hold on. Should I wait to add fish until it clears up? Water chem is all good . Ph is 6.6 but everything else is fine.
If you are having fish die, I would assume the water conditions are bad. I would get the test kit I recommend in the video and do a test. If ammonia or nitrite is high then you need to change water and/or rehome fish temporarily. I would feed lightly every other day and make sure there is no food at the bottom. It can rot and cause problems. But first test your water and check back with the results and we can go from there.
Super helpful for the betta tank im setting up. Super glad it's normal and not a mistake on my end, great video that gets to the point instead of waiting 20 minutes in to give an answer
So glad you did this video. I only ever had small aquriums and just upgraded to a 240 litre woke up this morning my heart sank with the cloudiness. Looks like I'm just going to test and wait it out. Thanks for the video new subscriber your way 👍👍
Currently going through this phase. Glad I found this video, it's out me at ease. I put bacteria in the tank when I filled it before I added fish, so I'm going to hold back from adding more. Thanks for this video 🙌🏻
Thank u i tried to tell my guy this but he wouldnt listen this is my 2nd tank & i learned this in my 1st tank & i wanted him to see this so he wouldnt think i was being cocky
You're awesome man 🙌🏽 answered all my questions. i was worried about it after 2 days of setting a new fish tank with clean tap water . Im like what is wrong with the water getting dirty so quickly. 😔 and then here is your video explains everything for a beginners that needs to know and why is it happening. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You make everything to look so easy. Very nice explanation. I'm a new starter and your video helped me so much. Thanks! You just got a new subscriber.👍👍👍
Hi again I left my fish tank as is but the water became more and more cloudy a bit green also, and today a bit brown And the fish stays up trying to breath So I'm planning to change the water today.
thanks! helped me a lot.. i just setup my new aquarium with substrate, plants etc.. after fill the water & turn on the filter pump, water become clody after a while.. i didnt put any fish yet.. is it because the cycle?
I have 75 gallon aquarium and i put top filter my water is cloudy. Is it okay to put my arowana in tank even though its cloudy? Btw my arowana still a baby about 5 to 6 inches. Thank you sir new subscriber here! 👊😁
Hello friend I'm in a pinch and could use a quick answer if possible. We bought a 55gal new tank washed and added rocks, real and plastic plants little pirate ship stuff and then used a new water heater to get it to 75'F, 24hrs later once temp was reached we put chlorine drops then added about 5smaller fish. In 24hrs it was cloudy 3larger fish died but the others are fine . I'm thinking polymer overdose like a pool but what do you think. Everthing new no algea on walls. Thank you.
I got a 29 gallon tank I put in bacteria and added some prime. Got the test kit. Is it safe for the fish to be in the tank while it's going through the cycle? It's just a .16 gold fish.
Should be ok with one fish. Goldfish are pretty hardy. Just watch out for over feeding and it should work out. Keep testing the water every week or so.
Thank you for advice. Sir ,, it can happen that a new tank ( without fish) become cloudy!!? And what the reason ? My fish tank just start it after 6 months was clean and dry . I add only water - without fish and without bacteria - but after 12 hours water became cloudy!!
What if there's no fish and you still have a cloudy fish tank? There's only clean gravel, a few java ferns and a few ornaments and the water is still cloudy...I set up the tank 2 days ago and it's getting worse...what's creating this cloudiness?
@@TropicalFishGuy thanks … I have 7 glo fish , 6 neon , 3 frogs , 3 snails , live plants , 30 gallon . So it’s good to know it’s not days lol . I started the whole process about 2 1/2 weeks Ago and I think I had been over feeding so I have backed off that :)
