Many people are keeping RVs longer now and one of the problems that plague many of them is the side windows on class A motor homes get cloudy or milky over time. There is a fix for it, but it is not for the faint of heart. We show you in this video how to remove and disassemble the window to remedy this dangerous situation.

Wow! What a pane of the glass. Job well done! Thanks for the grinder slot tip. Tip for you, if you want very clean glass, dry rub it with 4/0 steel wool, and then blow it off. Really, it will not scratch the glass and comes out very slick and shiny clean. Keep em comin.

Great work guys, in our Winnebago we had the same window fogged, I took it out and took it to a glass shop , instead of 2 1/8 pc of glass with a 1/8 space, I went with a 3/8 solid so I don't have to worry about fogging again, works great....

Kenny, I also have a Valco Tube Squeezer from years ago that is absolutely awesome for those small tubes of product that really are a pain, makes it easier than a caulk gun. Also. When wiping silicone licking your finger once is not a problem, remember to wipe off all the silicone before licking again or you end up with silicone in your mouth, maybe I’m showing my smarts. Ha. Another Great Video, Kenny. I recently bought one of the new Milwaukee Brushless M12 Rotary Tools, Milwaukee’s newest version of the Dremel Tool and it is absolutely amazing compared to the previous versions. A little more precise than the big grinder, but the same process. My luck I would have had clear cracked windows.

The ozone left my sliding glass door and it gets fogged up in between and I pretty much have to do what you're doing to get the glass apart. It was a pain the 1st time and was easier the 2nd and 3rd times doing it probably because I didn't replace the butyl tape. Have to do it about every 2 years.

Sometimes you can heat the end of the screw driver and it will melt or soften the sealant enough to get into the heads

So those are dual paned? In the residential side of life they add argon gas as an insulated option. When windows those types of window gasket fails they are pretty much trash, but what you guys are doing is pretty interesting. I've always wondered if it would work just as well to do what you guys are doing would work. I've personally reglazed single pane old school windows and those were air tight and work just as well as dual pane. Looks good 👍
@JeffinTD
@JeffinTD 2 месяца назад
I kinda wondered if a person could use a bit of tubing or whatever, and the argon from a Tig welder to refill those? Probably wouldn’t get it completely purged but it would be mostly dry, inert gas.
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 2 месяца назад
From what I understand the RV windows never had Argon gas in them.
@paulschuenke9529
@paulschuenke9529 2 месяца назад
It wouldn’t matter if they had argon in them or. Not the seal fails the air or argon is lost you replace or do what the hillbilly did If that glass wasn’t tempered the chances are high the glass would have broke separating the old glass unit
@adammeredith18
@adammeredith18 2 месяца назад
@JeffinTD if the seal material is like butyl, I'm sure you could use 2 inflation needles. Push one in on one side to allow for air to escape and on the other side set up a connection adapter to run the argon in. And then reseal penetration points

Just a thought. When I try and align something up using sticky tape I will only peel a little of the tape protector back just so I can grab after I align the parts . Then pull the protective film out from between the parts. It will let you adjust without sticking

Hey Hillbilly, this is off topic but I have a question. I have a 2018 keystone Laredo with bal accu slides. I noticed that the bottom was not going all the way out so I decided to adjust the cables and ended up replacing one cable because I couldn’t get it to pull it all the way in, after I replaced the cable I noticed that all of my cables have no fraying on either end but the adjustment 3/8, are all bottom out including the chain adjustment are bottom out. The camper has very little use on it, maybe 4 times a year, but my question is, can I remove a link from the chain and put it back together to tighten everything up. Some cables are tighter than others but has very little slack in them now
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 2 месяца назад
I have several BAL videos that might help you. That seems odd that you are out of adjustment. When you shorten one cable the other gets longer, as far as the adjustments go. Maybe you should start all over and get things centered before you start adjusting again.
@allenpardon8211
@allenpardon8211 2 месяца назад
@@hillbillyrv all I adjusted was the bottom and it wouldn’t go in all the way because the adjustment nut bottom out, that’s why I changed that cable. All is working fine now but all adjustments are bottom out except the one I replaced. It has plenty of movement left if needed. I was just wondering if I could remove a chain link to give a little wiggle room or do you think the cables are stretched. Thanks
@hillbillyrv
@hillbillyrv 2 месяца назад
@@allenpardon8211 You can loosen the cables on that one and just move the chain a notch or 2 and then adjust the cables. I have several videos on BAL slide rooms.

The reason boot glazed windows fail more than silicone glazed windows because water gets into the boot and the edge of the glass sits in water that gets trapped there and eventually compromises the spacer seal and fogged up the glass We have changed 1000s of these over the years in commercial and residential windows
