This has to have been my most unlucky day of racing in a LONG time. But here is how it went..
Practice: P2
Quali: P3 in group P9 overall
Pre-A Final:P9⬇️P22⬆️P20⬇️Last 💀
A final:Last(P24)⬆️P15
Practice I was all by myself and was just getting used to track conditions.
Quali I felt happy with, only 0.04 seconds off pole in my group. But my final lap was amazing but then the yellows came out and so had to slow down and could not improve on by best time. An improvement from last round (16th against P9)
This is where things start to unravel...
Pre-A final I got a decent start making up a place or two but at Christmas corner I was hit into the back of somebody in front and I could not turn and so went off onto the grass putting me down to 3rd to last. I followed Ben Y through the field (not a pun) and it became pretty apparent that my kart just did not have the same pull out of the corners, making me lose around 1/2 a lap or so. Then when I was following someone else through the Ashby hairpin, I was hit from behind and I went wide, making me lose a couple of places.
But when I thought that my luck could not get any worse it did.
I came round T2 and saw tons of karts flying all over the place and I went to the left as another kart managed to get through safely the same way. BUT a kart kept rolling forwards and it was too late to brake.
So I swerved out of the way, only clipped the other driver luckily but it sent me flying into the grass and I skidded along and hit the grass bank which put me up into the air and spun me round and I came to a stop, wedged in thick grass.
I tried to get my kart out of the grass but I could not. I waited for a marshal to come over and help me get the kart out of the grass, costing me over a lap and so putting me down in last when I eventually got going again. The race was red flagged and so I finished the pre final in 24th place (dead last).
The final was actually not too bad, I made 9 places cleanly and avoided all the chaos that was happening around me. I wasn't even sure if I would race in the final, I had heatstroke and had a massive headache and just felt awful. But with a few minutes left before I was out on track, I decided to just go for it.
Once I was moving I felt much better, but the only problem was every time I would go over a bump on the track, my head would pound and ache a lot, this distracted me quite a bit but I managed to push through it and keep my cool.
So to conclude. This round could have not gone much worse, but I made it a little bit better because of that final and the qualifying showing my pace. Sadly I will not be at Round 3 due to being in France for a school trip, But hopefully round 4 will go more my way.
