Hi Tim great video showing the details of this place, the spike on top of the spire could just be a modern day lightning conductors however I've seen all sorts of things on top of spires. The fine decorative stonework on the on roof area and turrets are not carved stone but cast in a mould no hammer or chisel needed it's the same with most of the windows. Gargoyles "are" the ones with the lead piping coming from the mouth and the ones with a closed mouth and no hole for piping are called Grotesques and are often found on the 4 corners of the tower. Steps round the back clearly show burried levels as per normal for these buildings. You mentioned it yourself why oh why would the designers of churches add the extra towers and turrets that have nothing what so ever to do with religion and why would they put such horrible creatures all over the outside of the building....its hardly family friendly place when first constructed.😊
