Just get a Barnett Billet basket. Hinson baskets groove like stock. The Barnett basket uses stainless steel inserts. Keeps it from grooving and shifts very smoothly. And they are 100% made in the USA.
Liked your repurposed clutch basket jig (very cool). Its nice to see some old piece of junk and say to yourself, 🤔I think I may be able to use that...Im always looking at things with a repurpose in mind
I like to repurpose things as well. That being said, be careful, the extra play will cause a slingshot effect and it will wear grooves even faster and even worse the "arms " or fingers will stretch and the outer most clutch friction plate will try to become an oval and crack in time and can detonate completely , resulting in catastrophic failure... just a heads up. I only know from experience.
Do you have a video on the 2014 and newer yfz slipper clutch ? And witch is better for trail riding and dunes slipper or to back date to pre 2014 style clutch ?
Great video. Iam in the market for a 450r, and I been seeing alot of treads on stock clutch basket exploding. Do you recommend replace the stock basket from the start? If so what brand you recommend? And is this a diy fix? Are have a shop do? Thanks for your time.
I have a 18’ yfz450r and It’s bone stock has very low hours I was always aware of the exploding basket since I’ve had friends that owned 450r’s in the past and had to pay 2-3k after the clutch exploding so I would say a oil return can set up I have the 38 motorsports one on my bike and you can also go oem with changing the basket which would be the 2009-2010 cushion basket I know some spots have them as a kit with the basket washer and lock washer for around 300-400 I have that in my bike but I have a complete clutch so the retaining plate and inner hub also but you can just buy the basket and use the slipper clutch in the newer 450’s and it is def a diy if you watch on here you should get the run down on it
I have my clutch basket oil pump gear with 6 broken teeth as well with the oil pump gear? Not sure what could have caused this? Any advice would be surely appreciate it.
