Today every engineer, maker, and tinkerer can get access to a decent 3D printer for less than 300$ and start creating. Many of those people that have 3D printers also want to play and experiment with robotic arms that are close to the size or performance of human arms. While industrial robotic arms are too expensive, the only alternative is DIY robotic arms that are in most cases not really easy to program or capable of doing useful tasks.
Also, the DIY arm that will be used at home or near other people needs to be safe. That can be hard if using large reduction gearboxes or building a robotic arm that weighs a lot. CM6 is a robotic arm that could fill that gap. It is safe, compliant, and most of all cheap. CM6 is a 3D printable COBOT robotic arm that uses QDD (Quasi direct drive actuators). QDD gives CM6 passive compliance which makes it behave like a human arm,

What do you think is the source of the jitter? Control loop performance? Play in the joints? Sensor accuracy? IK?

Control loop probably and gearboxes are 3d printed and they took a lot of abuse during testing and prototyping. I am planning new version that will be much better but have a lot to experiment on this one.

I guess you could, you would need to rewrite some of it but it should work.

How much reach does it have and how many kgs can it lift?

Hey, max reach is 730 mm and for load test check this video out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HiBuNRKd65Y.html How much it can carry depends on where the load is with aspect to its base, same as human arm.

Hey there, thanks for sharing! Trying to find some 3D printed robot arm project with source code and build instructions...is it good idea to choose this project? It looks great and not so difficult...is it have big backlash or some hidden problems? Need some advice, please.

Hey tnx for the interest. This arm is still work in progress and instructions are being made. This arm is also much more difficult to built then other arms you can see on the internet that use stepper motors. You can check the other arm i made on my RU-vid channel, it has building instructions and is more documented.

Please do not upload zip files on github. That is a very bad idea as versioning your files does not make any sense this way.
