Pela doesn't freeze, but if it coincides that the enemy is ice-weak, then sure. You must have Luocha if your Pela isn't built yet, she's a god sent with the dispell, and defense break is an invaluable tool.

@@ch1dd Yeah, you guessed it, I have luocha to carry me through the reviving guys in MOC so Pela is not that high on my priority list for now. I think I'll have to build her for the ice pen and the defense break though

@@yangg40 Definitely a great investment, AoE defense shred has insane potential going forward as everyone gets more erudition/destruction characters built. It actually is a shame she doesn't have a freeze chance though, that would make her even more universal.

Or you can ignore all that and stack break effect, only getting the key ascension traces. It's a dps loss until you invest on him, sure, but immediately ready to use without resource costs other than leveling

I think it would also depend on situation, since sampo works better in AoE situations due to his bounce skill, while luka is more focused on single target

@@4l3x709 his bounce skill is actually weaker in AoE scenarios, so they're roughly the same but Sampo can't make full use of the skill since it's random, while Luka can. Kafka is the one getting stuff done when AoE is required, in element neutral scenarios you'll always want Luka no matter the enemy numbers

@@arcallium My assumption here is that we're picking a Kafka partner without considering element, because like I said Sampo's break would be a lot of value, especially AoE. But if we just count the AoE shear, since Kafka's E only detonates one target I believe her ultimate will be enough AoE on a Luka team, his bleed detonation on a priority target being more valuable.

@@ch1dd again, I'm not talking about his Weakness Break (which, as you said, is very good). I'm aware that breaking does apply multiple Wind Shears, but what I was saying was in addition to that, Sampo can also apply his normal Wind Shear through his Ultimate, which hits 3 times, on all the present enemies. As you know, his DoT ability is not locked into his skill, but through his passive talent that allows him to apply his DoT with a 65% base chance.

By my personal experience thus far with this game, as new bosses and monsters are added, there will be an increasing demand for different units. Your safest bet would be to build both if you foresee yourself relying on the character in the future. Prioritize building 8 characters - your favorite characters that you'll use the most often and that are most valuable to your account's progression. From there, you can start working on characters who are useful to you in niche situations. Some people are running Sampo x Kafka × Luka × Any Healer or Shielder for sustain. Priority should be dealing the highest damage you can without your party dying.

The only answer is both, because the game is about team variety to "solve" the enemy configurations they come up with. If you're gonna disregard the weakness mechanic and only build one, Luka will be better due to bleed scaling with enemy max health, his multiplier ceiling being higher, and as far as I can tell he's skill point positive which lets Kafka go nuts every turn.

bottom line is sampo for wind, luka for general purpose. if you absolutely can't build both, or already have a wind dps, go luka.

Difficult but not impossible. Stacking EHR means her AoE Ult is a hard stun and can be used to skip mechanics like Sanction Mode. And with her follow up and maybe ERR rope, she can have good uptime on it. Helps a lot if the enemy is ice weakness since she can double dip on freeze with BE Freeze.
