When I saw them live in Turkey anyone who couldn't buy concert tickets gathered on the hills and apartments next to the stage to watch the show. It shows how great Maiden is and how dedicated the fans are.
I have been going to concerts for 25 years, my 1st being AC/DC at Edinburgh Playhouse in 1986. Living in Orkney meant that you went to less gigs but meant that the extra travel made it even more special plus you always met other people on route to the concert that you made freinds with. On the other side I worked 25 miles from London 1989 - 1991. When I went to concerts there we were spoiled, great gigs every week. The crowd (myself included) were like okay show us what you've got. It's an 80s tour, so The Trooper is obviously there. But I think they choose Fear of the Dark cause it was close to the 80s and a very popular song among the fans.
I agree with you Jeffrey. Def Leppard was also much more of a pop band, with lots of airplay. When you have that kind of success, it's tough to keep it going, and I think those kinds of bands tend to have a more passive fan base - when the hits stop, a certain number of fans will stop following. Whereas, groups like Maiden, who are more dependent on what may be a smaller group of hardcore fans, tend to keep their fans longer. Besides, as long as you're kicking serious ass, fans will stay.

it's almost unbelievable there career's just don't happen anymore people are not dedicated to the music and learning how to play starting at a young age they buy instruments never play them then end up lifetime fans of a band like this or record labels don't give out record deals like theres anymore
how many iron maiden fans will actually make there own bands and be successful at music that's the part I think is disheartening as a lifetime musician nobody really tells you hey you have to know how to write songs if your own or you'll never be shit but a fan
when i hav kids im gonna put iron maiden for them to listen to and not that high school musical, hanna montana bullshit... they are a good influence 2 all kids
