It's a shame that some railway lines are disappearing im surprised that Ontario north lander didn't buy out some of the CN lines

This line was offered for sale when it was shut down in 2005 but there were no takers. There wasn't a ton of traffic when CN was operating it, so I doubt anyone else could make a go of it.

Is my memory correct, that CN still owns the RoW? And there is fibre buried along side? Interesting that the ballast is so deep and still sort of 'profiled' at the sides. It's almost like they had done a lot work keeping it up to snuff then ripped out the track. Just thinking CN must have abandoned a lot of trackage around that time, as it was around this period the track got ripped out of Algonquin Park too.

Yes and yes. Apparently the fibre line is a pretty important one. Back in 2021/2022 I came across two significant washouts on the line just west of Geraldton. That information was communicated to CN and the washouts were repaired. You can see the washouts here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WV1FcRwiMfY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Dgk0jMYG2c.html There was quite a bit work done to this line over the years, including a complete re-ballasting of the line in 1982 and installation of CWR in some areas. Then once CN acquired a US route around the Great Lakes in the early 2000s, the Kinghorn was no longer needed as a redundancy.

I'll admit I'm not as into things as I was decades past, if memory serves, it would have been around when they picked up Wisconsin Central, Illinois Central Gulf and I think another outfit in Chicago, that made running through the city possible. By picking up WC that also gave them Algoma Central too, I think. CN ended up, not sure if it's still so, with what was termed the "Iron Lariat" around the Great Lakes. Your reply has enlightened me about why various trackage was let go. Very slow light bulb.

The Kinghorn essentially died when CN opened the Nakina Cut-off in 1924. It was no longer on the mainline and there wasn't much local traffic. By the 1940s there was one train per day each way and that pretty much continued until 2005. It was kept around as a redundancy in case the mainline went down. It just a took a bit longer to meet the same fate as the Pagwa Sub.

Did they turned some of the abandoned railroad lines into Roads for cars?

This line is not an official trail yet, but people use it all the time as you can see by the condition of the grade. The other line I am current following, the Graham Subdivision, is a trail you can drive over a good chunk of.
