@@TheCharismaticVoice Oh, please please do "Work shit out" with Julia! Jonah is also a classical piano player with skills on the same level as his singing! In this song al of them show of their mad skills in a way that blew my mind, the first time I heard that song a year ago. I'm 58 years old and my body and mind reacted like it did when I was a teenager and discovered different types of great music for the first time! I mean, the older you get the probability to hear something completely surprising from what you have encountered before in your life gets slimmer but here I experienced something I have not done in over 40 years! I had never heard of this group, 'Dirty Loops', either but loved the sound, and...well, damn, I just loved everything about this song and these three guys. I'm almost 70 years old and I got to say that one of the few good things to come out of the pandemic was learning new music from all over the world from RU-vid and at least electronically meeting great new folks such as yourselves. Love both of you and what you bring to the table of understanding concerning different styles and genre's of music. Keep doing what you're doing and I promise it will not hurt my feelings if you do more together from time to time. Great reaction and analysis as always from the both of you.

Thanks for a brilliant reaction and breakdown of this song. It's so nice when you go through it in detail like this, and point out stuff that's easily missed even when you've listened to the song hundreds of times. They all studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, but all three of them also went to music high school (ages 16-19 in Sweden) together, though they were all in different years. Jonah and Henrik has known each other since elementary school even, and met when Jonah was 9 and Henrik was 11, so they've all known each other for 20+ years by now. They produce everything themselves, even the videos (which are almost exclusively edited by Aron), with the help of Simon Petrén. Jonah is actually a producer as well, and he doesn't consider singing his first instrument. When they started Dirty Loops in 2008, as a hobby project to have a creative outlet and a safe space to test out all their ideas, he had never sung lead at all, and didn't even know if he could. He has sung choir, mostly classical, his whole life though, even though he considers the piano/keyboard his main instrument.

@lottawiklund8606
@lottawiklund8606 Год назад
@@PedroLacruzmusic I have no idea about Jonah's solo project, but for Dirty Loops they've actually stated in interviews that with Quincy Jones they only have a management deal, and that they produce everything themselves. With Verve they had more of a full package deal (but they still did basically all the creative work themselves), but when that ended they felt that they preferred doing things by themselves, and only have people doing management and booking for them. The Phoenix EP was self-released in both Sweden and the US (in Japan that EP was released by Universal though), as was Turbo (together with Cory Wong ofc). They've also said that they're actually not sending Quincy Jones anything, not even demos, until they're all done with a song, video and all, and I don't see any reason to think they're not being truthful about that. So no, according to themselves he is not co-producing for Dirty Loops.

Besides that they are true masters off their respective instruments, (and Jonah is not even considering his voice as his first instrument) they are perfectionists when it comes to making these videos. They have said in different interviews, that it is sometimes very difficult, to remember what they did in the recorded version. Like Jonah's totally insane run in "Hit me", that was a onetime-recording. They are absolutely amazing from all perspectives.

Dirty Loops are cookin' with gas. They have so many great tracks. One of my favs, which is very underrated, because it doesn't feature some of their high end pyrotechnics is Breakdown. It's such a slinky, sultry groove, with the drum and bass fills just subdividing the hell out of it, and with stellar vocal gymnastics on top, it's one of their more mature pieces of arrangement. The key modulation for the outro is just fantastic. Another fav is Work Shit Out, some cool jazz exploration on that, with a great drum solo. Follow The Light is also awesome. When it comes down to it, I can't complain about anything they've done, it's all good. These guys are all masters on their respective instruments, they all understand melody, harmonic complexity, rhythm and complex subdivisions of it, they understand arrangements, they know how to impart emotion into it all, and nuance is second nature to them in every aspect of that. I don't know what else you could ask from professionals than that. It's also crazy that Julia love Dirty Loops so much yet, she hasn't reacted to them on her channel, at all.

The two of you have given rise to a dream in me. I know it is a lot to ask but oh how I would love to hear the two of you do a breakdown of Dirty Loops "Next to You". There are many of us out here who consider "Next to You" to be Loops "Bohemian Rhapsody". With everything that implies. It is truly a band tour-de-force and I do not think Jonah vocally leaves anything out of this song. And those choruses oh the choruses and every single voice is Jonah's-do not believe what your eyes are telling you. You'll just have to watch the video to see what I mean. But and I reiterate, all voices are Jonah's. Wonderful effort you two. A delight and an education.

You both should do some of these with a percussionist. I am constantly amazed at how both of you pick out drum/bass elements that complement the vocals to create an effect!

Oh my goodness, just when I thought I'd exhausted all the good DL reactions on RU-vid, one of my favorite vocal reactors discovers them in a COLLAB? I'm just mad it took YT three whole days to recommend it to me. Great stuff, both of you!

This was phenomenal! I’ve loved Dirty Loops for years and have tried to get friends into them but to a non-trained ear often they feel it’s too busy. Here’s hoping you’ll do more! Hit me, Next to you, Rolling in the deep, Work shit out… they’ve got tons of tasty aural candy!

Great reaction video! Much more substance than most reaction videos! I would love to see a reaction on "Next to you" by Dirty Loops! It's an amazing song, and a mindblowing thing in that song is that Jonah is doing ALL the vocals. He made his own qoire with about 20 layers or something. :) I would also love to see a reaction on Breakdown. Jonahs vocals is amazing in that one as well.

Hadn't heard of Julia before. Shocked that there is another person out there both as passionate in their reactions as you are, AND with the ability to explain what they are hearing in a way that is so descriptive, yet easy to comprehend. Peas in a pod, you both are! Also never heard of Dirty Loops before. What a great funky, happy 80's throwback feel. My subscriptions rose by 2 today; where will I ever find the time. Lastly, I was having a crap day today, but between your enthusiasm and their funky grooves... now I just wanna dance. 🕺 Thank you!! 🥰

This amazing band started as a "cover" group, the arrangements were so complex and crazy they really made them their own with little/no resemblance to the original. So when they started to record their original material, nothing changed really. It was still their own sound / style / influences, which i can recognize instantly. They have set the mark so high technically, that IMHO as a musician, when a band can play a Dirty Loops song, they have officially won the game of music. (similar to a billionaire winning the game of economy) xD

I don't think you'll find anything on their channel disappointing. 🤩 My vote is "Follow The Light" next: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--UBcxKiS550.html My take on Jonah's voice: Michael Jackson + Stevie Wonder = Jonah Nilsson.

Over the last couple of years I've been watching a lot of DL reactions, Snarky Puppy reactions and then Angelina Jordan reactions which got me to "VocalCoachTube" and I've always wondered how Jonah would be received/considered vocally by those who know what they are talking about (not me). I'm really glad you both think his voice is amazing and it's been an absolute joy to "be" both you as the "new listener", Julia as the mad friend having just the best time introducing this amazing band to her friend and me watching you both have these experiences. Peak reaction. End-boss reaction. Epic.
