It possible for Honerable John Steenhuisen to become a vice president since ANC have agreed to share absolute power with DA and IFP. I cannot imagine the president missing the bus on that one. Key ministerial position will be shared as well, and will interesting to see if minister of finance retains his position.

IFP in KZN got less that 15% of the vote but they are the "president" of the province in the form of the Premier. ANC decided to collapse itself in this manner.

Here's what's wrong: May it happen that our current president, Ramaphosa, gets booted off the presidency then mr Steenhuisen becomes the president, the rightist ideas and policies that might be passed by the then government might put us as the working class at a disadvantaged position. For example, the DA's plan to abolish the minimum wage law. This would lead to the exploitation of employees, I assume you know how capitalists are (they always want the greatest productivity and profit at the least cost (i.e, low salaries/wages for employees)). It's these neoliberal policies that makes the DA less preferable for the presidency or even the deputy president position. It's not about race.

one has to remember the timeframe when Zuma did a matric and at what time Steenhuisen did it, then he was under white education, Zuma under very limited educational system. Like in business by the end the experience counts, so was Zuma's time, he learned as he got on. Crime is difficult to solve. People usually have 2 options in life, based on the opportunities provided to them and their environment. Option 1) Life of a citisen Option 2) Life of a criminal The life of a citisen encompasses good education, good environment, a house, a strong sense of community, a job. The life of a criminal encompasses chaos, instability, no house, no education, no sense of community, no job. If the opportunities do not exist to live the life of a citisen, then people tend to go to the life of a criminal. Police can help suppress crime, but to truly reduce crime, you have to provide people with good opportunities. As soon as a party/individual wants to suppress the criminals, then they become a target, however it needs to done to protect other people. I also agree, that from a skillset perspective, John Steen doesn't have business skills, but last time I checked, a government is not a business. It might have the hierarchy of one, and might need a leader that can make realistic difficult decisions, but it's more of an organisation than a business that stresses on making profit.

@@UhuruUhuru Police powers would be better completely devolved to the provinces and then just having a national network, South Africa is a very diverse place so having one style of policing across the whole country is very inefficient. would be better managed at a provincial level and that can then reflect how the province is managed as a whole to voters. Besides the current system being extremely mismanaged and underfunded it would take far more than the next electoral cycle to fix.

From research Paul Mashatile has been in politics for a long time, so has John Steenhuisen - the only thing I can find on Paul Mashiatile's education was - He registered for a Diploma in Economic Principles with the University of London and successfully completed several courses. He dropped out of his law studies when he was in prison.

You allege Steenhuyzen is not qualified? Did you know? Jacob Zuma, the former President of South Africa, never attended school. Zuma dropped out of primary school in grade six and received political and military training through the ANC as a teen.

You are conflating issues. Corruption is its own issue and it deals with ethics. We don’t want corrupt people in power, that is incontrovertible. Competence is a separate issue. To be competent you need training, which comes from education and you need experience, which comes from occupation. You can be ethical and incompetent for a particular job. Now the question to you; is John Steenhuisen qualified to be a head of state. As vice president we have to examine him taking into mind the possibility of him becoming a president.

Sunday times is reporting that they don’t want ministry of police but they said they couldn’t fix crime in western cape because it was national. So why not take it.
They did, Zwele Mkhize had businesses through his child, and he was removed from the office. Mantashe, through his wife has businesses and many more like suspended speaker of parliament. Current vice president Paul has businesses just hide behind close family. So do not be fooled or misinformed about these people.
I don't think they should. To have inside knowledge on political decisions that would change the market is extremely valuable and dangerous. And that is the problem, why there can be tender companies siphoning money from the system. If I was a dirty minister, I can make a shell business or ask my friend to make a shell business, then invest in it, then change the rules to benefit the business, then cashout and make some quick money. This is very similar to those bitcoin or cryptocurrency guys, where you make a new coin, you buy a bunch or them for a few cents, advertise it, a bunch of people buy the coins driving up the price, then you sell your coins drastically driving down the price and run away with the money.
