We’ve teamed up with Detailing Shed, in conjunction Gtechniq to test out C2 V3 Liquid Crystal Citrus. C2 V3 is a gloss intensive spray on, wipe-off dirt repellent coating that blankets your vehicle in a highly reflective, glass-like finish.
We decided to put it to the test in a slightly different application, by coating a new set of wheels for the Mazda CX-5. We only used roughly 75mL of product in order to coat all four wheel faces and barrels - leaving us with plenty to use on a small/medium vehicle in the future.
GTECHNIQ C2v3 Liquid Crystal can be applied to all exterior surfaces to provide excellent UV protection and water-sheeting abilities. A single application of C2v3 Liquid Crystal lasts up to 8 months

Interesting video. Might give C2V3 a try on my alloys. But a little concerned at lack of PPE for hands and feet when using chemical products. Also flipping them wheels over to concrete paving slabs is cringeworthy. You can hear the front alloys hit the ground 😱

What was the durability like on the product, if you remember?

It was average, I don’t think it held up particularly well to the heat versus a ceramic coating like C5 or CSL.

You shouldnt be placing a liquid sealant on wheels due to heat. Wheel armour is the only application you should be using as it can handle heat build up.

Lots of people use Gtechniq CSL on wheels (we’ve used this on the WRX STi on the channel). We have Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour to use on a future detail, however this is what we’re all about - testing products and seeing how they perform under different circumstances. It’ll be interesting to see how a spray coating intended for paint performs on wheels.
