Cobra Kai Season 4 Trailer Analysis and Reaction - Final Trailer, Terry Silver Returns! 

If Kreese and Silver bow and say “Party Time” at some point in Season 4, that’ll be epic. 😎

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe I would see terry silver back, I needed this. This season will be my favorite. I can't wait.

I got a feeling Johnny is going to find out the hard way how dangerous Terry Sliver is

The "I wanna make sure THIS time we win" - is a Vietnam reference as well. It's something Kreese and Silver share. There was a beef between Kreese/Silver and Miyagi in KK3 - because the Miyagi's WW2 generation of vets got all the glory/respect and Kreese/Silver Vietnam generation got shit on. The huge resent they have is pretty obvious "If it isn't the great war hero.." They feel they killed for their country and lost friends and deal with trauma but they weren't even allowed to win...then got no respect by their fellow Americans afterwards. "Do we get to win this time" was also said in Rambo First Blood Part II - "this time, it's up to you" retorts Trautman.

"You miss this, don't you?" Kreese was probably referring to Terry Silver missed teaching Cobra Kai, and possibly to start doing pain on their enemies.

I think that in the begining of s4 Silver will be like Johnny in season 1. He probably gave up karate for too long and kreese will bring him back to it. The more we'll advance in the season, the more Silver will become the good old Silver again. You can clearly see his evil grin when he trains Robby and when he's at miyagi's dojo.

Loved the song Rock of Ages by Def Leppard in the trailer. Also one thing to note is about the All-Valley board member George, his hair appears grayer.

Ken, I love your analyses as always. There are a few things I like to point out. One is that if you notice at the tournament that Daniel has his white gi on and Johnny has a red gi on. They've become the Ryu and Ken of the series! It may also hint at a rivalry-friendship with the two just like the Street Fighter duo. Could be looking too much into that though. Early on, if you notice in the trailer, Johnny wears a light red sweat shirt, Daniel light blue. It may hint that the two are trying to tone down their differences with color tones being the physical representation. Miguel wears maroon-red, a mixing of Miyagi-Do with his Eagle-Fang, Sam wears royal purple, a mixing of Eagle-Fang with her Miyagi Do. As the trailer progresses, Johnny shifts from red sweatshirts to grey -- could be a hint at Johnny, not Daniel, doing more of the reaching out and trying to change. But in the end, when the two meet at the tournament they are dressed in their respective gi with Johnny wearing full red again; could be a sign that the two split and part ways, though retaining a mutual respect for one another. It could also be a strategy that the two come up with. Two karate dojos fighting one -- Cobra Kai, and as long as either Eagle Fang or Miyagi Do wins, the conditions are met where John Kreese leaves. When we look at Robby, it seems he is given a leadership role in Cobra Kai, a way that Kreese (and Silver) keep Robby part of their squad -- by giving him the respect and recognition he has sought all his life. Robby ends up learning three types of martial arts: Miyagi Do (Daniel), Cobra Kai (Kreese), and then Quicksilver (Silver), giving him and the rest of Cobra Kai an edge against Miyagi/Fang -- for they learn only two styles. That may be the defining factor in the tournament. Early on, Miyagi/Fang participants are wiped out by Cobra Kai because of this technique. The more experienced ones, such as Miguel, Sam, and Hawk, may learn to adapt or get coached by Johnny and Daniel in time to compensate, but in the end, Robby stands in their way as the master of them all. It seems that Robby will face against both Miguel and Sam in the tournament and beat them both, narratively. This would demonstrate that Robby is not only the better fighter in terms of Cobra Kai (against Miguel), but also in terms of Miyagi-Do (against Sam). Of course, Robby, who left Miyagi-Do and Sam who has trained since she was a child, may not be able to best her in that art, but he doesn't have to. He has three styles to her two. This can also be accomplished by having Robby and Tory be the duo who wins the tournament -- Tory beats Sam by knowing how to beat Miyagi-Do, and Robby beats Miguel, by using his combination of styles to beat his Cobra Kai (Eagle Fang).

I can’t wait for this. I also want Mike Barnes to return.

I have an interesting comment: Daniel has had 4 MAJOR fights, which I define as fights at the end of a movie or the end of an episode (season actually) against a major villain. He has had many other fights against more "minor" villains. Anyway, so far he won all 4 of those MAJOR fights and each time it was using some special technique or ability he gained in his training earlier in the movie (or season for cobra kai). KK1: He wins with the CRANE KICK KK2 He beats Chozen with the DRUM TECHNIQUE. KK3 He beats Mike Barnes with the special advanced kata Mr. Miyagi taught him (in real life Mike's brutal training from Kreese and Silver would have totally stomped that stupid kata he learned on the beach with Miyagi) Cobra Kai season 3: He beats Kreese using the special secret techniques Chozen taught him earlier in the season. Here is how I think that pattern will carry over. I think he will have a MAJOR fight (maybe against Silver) at or near the end of season 4 and he will use something JOHNNY TAUGHT HIM to win. Would be really cool if Daniel defeats his hardest opponent (probably Silver but it might be someone else like a surprise return of Mike Barnes) using what he learned from Johnny and Johnny has to face a nemesis of his own (not sure who maybe Kreese or Silver or Barnes) and Johnny wins that fight USING SOMETHING THAT HE LEARNED FROM DANIEL. What a great way to cement their friendship and bond them together if each one defeats a major enemy using something they learned from the other. They would likely talk about it afterwards. If I am right about these theories it makes me wonder, if this show has a total of six seasons will Daniel develop some new abilities in that time to keep the "pattern" going of defeating a major enemy with some newly mastered skill?

Terry silver is so gonna cause damage

As I said in your other video, I feel that Silver actually holds a grudge against Kreese for what happened in KKIII. Kreese and Silver are very similar in some respects. Both war vets, both karate masters, and both need to be in control of the situation. Kreese might feel that Silver would never turn on him for several reasons. In Vietnam, he was probably promoted to Terry's commanding officer after the colonel's death, and he probably got Silver into karate in the first place. In his mind, Kreese sees Silver as his little brother who swore a life debt to be loyal to him all those years ago. But lets take a moment to analyze what Terry actually said "I owe you man, you saved my ass. Anything you need, I'm there for you. Your whole life, you hear me Johnny, your whole life. I owe you." You can interpret this 2 ways. 1. Terry is loyal to Kreese till the day they die, his loyalty is forever and so is that life debt. This is an unwavering and unbreakable promise. 2. Terry is telling Johnny that he *owes him* and Kreese can cash in on this special card anytime in their lives going forward. *But this does not mean that Terry's loyalty to Kreese is forever, it simply means that he owes him a debt and once it is paid, that is the end of it.* I tend to think that after 35 years, Kreese still thinks its option 1, but for Silver it is option 2. Think about it, after Vietnam, Terry became wealthy (or maybe he always came from wealth) and he used some of his money to help his friend open and found the Cobra Kai dojo. Years later, he helps him again by permanently scarring Daniel mentally and nearly breaking him at the tournament. And what did Terry get out of all of this besides his own gleeful pleasure, which he could afford to have back then as a billionaire with time on his hands? Nothing but humiliation and disappointment, not only at Barnes for losing the tournament but at Kreese for being so useless. In Terry's mind he sees Kreese as an old man still looking for a free handout after all these years and clinging onto a world that is long past and lost. He sees Kreese still holding that life debt over him and it angers him because that debt is paid. Nothing is free for Terry Silver. I have already theorized that Terry is not as well off now as he was back then, but even if he was he would still feel bitter about Kreese. But Terry is a patient man and he loves mind games, he is addicted to it. So he returns to play everyone in the Valley including Kreese. It is fun for him and he misses this, not the karate itself. Cobra Kai was always Kreese's lifework, not Silvers. To Terry, the dojo was just another one of his businesses that he employed Kreese to run for him as an employee, and the old fart screwed it up twice. Now he is back to manipulate everyone and exercise some of his own demons in the process. He is going to make Kreese his puppet without Kreese even realizing it and when the time is right, he is going to show him how little he really thinks of his "old friend" by taking Cobra Kai away from him.

It is the exact same gesture in KK3 when he was about to face Mr Miyagi and said:" come on little man, let's see how good you really are" . The writers are so good with callbacks man. Whilst it looks like there could be a power struggle between Larruso and Johnny, I wonder if this time round the relationship between Kreese and Silver might be a bit rocky as well?...It's doen't seem like Silver was too keen to come back initially. Te embarrasment he suffered at the end of KK3, along with any sort of financial penalty for dumping toxic waste, could've maybe taken it's toll on him. If I were to take a guess, based on how the trailer is laid out, I think Kreese will be unsuccesful with his first attempt at talking Silver round but most probably appeals to Silver's self perceived debt to him or chips away at his ego. I'm thinking that's where to comment "You miss this don't you" actually comes from. I reckon Silver has been behaving himself for the past 35 years, likely due to the repercussions of his characters actions in KK3

When Johnny told the miyagi do’s about the roof jumping. The person jumping from the all valley promo was Sam since she was there.

This analysis Ken Cole, was fantastic! You give a unique perspective on each character. That key phrase Robby makes saying "everyone thinks their way is the only way," is a powerful statement and says a lot about the main characters involved in the dojo wars. The analysis on Terry Silver and the in depth look into his character, just proves he has so, many layers to him. Kreese, may have opened Pandora's box by asking Terry back. Terry Silver could not only help them win the All Valley but might decide to take Cobra Kai over finally and open dojo's all over the valley. Also, what is interesting is that Robby, is being trained and put in a position to teach the next generation of Cobra Kai, maybe to run the next dojo owned by Terry Silver. "Yes, the story is just beginning." 🐍

Hi Ken, awesome video again, ya know shots from the tournament itself, especially Sam with nunchuks, it reminds me of that Film with Chuck Norris and the late jonathan brandis called Sidekicks, when the tournament is a mixture of weapons, sensai's fighting and brick breaking, I wonder if the proposal could be not just a karate 3 points and your out tournament, but like a gauntlet aspect with many categories, but I do think that the teachers will be allowed to fight and I've just got a feeling that Johnny might show his true colours and rejoin cobra kai, if it means getting closer emotionally to his son Robbie.

There is one interesting detail that i noticed when Daniel visits mr miyagi at the cemetery is that the bonsai next to his grave has one of its branches broken. Would that be one of terry silver's tricks to distabalise Daniel? Only time can tell. And about what the all valley karate committee is discussing about something that is gonna revolutionize the tournament maybe is that in this edition fights with weapons will be a new category, as we can see Sam showing some of her habilities with it, but maybe it could only be a demo before the actual fight, but it would be awesome.

Maybe Johnny will get an inheritance...likely not, but maybe

Binged the whole Season 4 the day it came out. The script writers are Genius! Multiple story lines were completely unexpected all through the 10 episodes, the All Valley Under 18 Tournament, and the final scene setting an awesome setup for Season 5.

How does Kreese look younger now than he did in season 2.

Great breakdown Ken. I already talked about Robby teaching CK & the reunion of Terry and Daniel. Now about other parts. I am sure Terry will take control, and will do things in his way. Kreese will be bound to accept that, he has no other choice. As for Johnny & Daniel, I don't think they will fight each other, they are just showing respect. I can the relationship they have is strong, and that together they are force to be reckon with. I think they just didn't choose a new name, logo & GI for the tournament, but they defiantly together. Let's be honest, it takes a lot of time to combine Tang Soo-Do and Goju-Ryu Karate, impossible to create a fusion style in just few months. "God help us all" could support in an idea, that the Senseis will fight each other. What I am surprised, is to see that Sam, appears not be afraid of Tory, the so much better of the two. I love how Terry trains Robby. He is doing nothing wrong to him, he is even gentle in his strikes and helps him up. As for romance, like I said, I couldn't care less, it's not important. The important thing is for the allies to stay together and win. As for the new kid Kenny, I don't know what to expect, so I will react when I will see him.

I kinda thought Terry would be working his magic behind the scenes. I somehow pictured Terry befriending Johnny and being all nice and friendly to him since he doesn’t know who he is. Then later Terry reveals his true colors to Johnny. The more upfront manipulation is cool too.

My theory of the proposal is just letting Terry Silver and John Kreese be in the tournament because of what happened in Karate Kid 3. Like in season 1 Cobra Kai was banned but because Johnny wasn't them they lifted the ban but now that Kreese and Silver are back running Cobra Kai they might question whether they should allow it or not.

This season looks incredible! I'd love to see Silver VS Lawrence, and Silver wiping the floor with him after what first appears to be an even match.

The rock of ages song was a nod to Zabka’s bully character in the movie “back to school” where he was dressed as a caveman at a college Halloween party where the song was playing in the background.

I have a feeling that the proposal will be that the rules of the tournament be changed from point based to full contact, like boxing/kickboxing matches. I also think that this idea will come from Silver, although unknown to the council. In a full contact match, the enemies of Cobra Kai would experience more pain and Silver would love it.

Ken, that video was better than a 1971 John Kreese front punch! This season can go many different directions with the edition of Terry Silver. Terry is a 5 level chess player and after the events of KK3 if he views Kreese as a weakness he will phase him out. From a creative perspective it would be interesting to have Cobra Kai win and have Silver kick Kreese to the curb.

I think it's obvious that the drastic change in the tournaments rules is that the competitors will be allowed to use full contact force and the point competition system will be ditched. This time it will be a full full contact competition.

Excited for Silver, my favorite charecter, which is really saying a lot in the karate kid movies. I think we will be seeing a lot of fight scenes with him in it. He's an actual martial artist who looks like he still has skills. If they can make that Kreese fight look as good as they did considering that actor is very limited in his movement, there is going to be a lot they can do with Silver. Already picturing both Johnny v. Silver and Daniel v. Silver. And Chozen v. Silver while we're at it, as I think he will definitely be returning in more seasons.

Cobra kai is going to win, miyagi do and eagle fang wont be complete until they are one dojo not two training as one.

I have told everyone in the past in real life Chozen is a 4th Degree black belt & silver is a Blackbelt in real life so they defiantly would take anyone Barnes might be a black belt as well Johnny practices karate I think a brown belt also was a good wrestler food for thought

Im wondering if the new rule has to do with tag matches. We have so many duos in the show that would be fun to see in tag matches. I would also like for the adults to fight at some point.

Maybe overtime silver was more involved in his businesses. So when kreese says you miss, Kreese is talking about karate.

The only change in the rules that could have someone worried would be changing it from point fighting to a more MMA or Kickboxing style competition. Something more like Karate Combat and less like Point Fighting competitions.

Terry Silver almost ruined Miyagis and Daniels relationship..the way Kreese is scared of Miyagi and looks under his bed for him, Daniel is terrified of Terry Silver the same way..maybe at the all Valley George is hesitant because Terry Silver is the president or something powerful at the all valley?

I think the best thing is that Daniel is going to finally find out that Miguel is a whole lot like him. Good all around dude who is self motivated and driven with a purpose for the greater good. He will also see that Johnny is much like himself but on the other side of the coin. This season should be more about self introspection, especially with silver coming on board.

I think Johnny and Daniel will still be joint Senseis. There is a little of Cobra Kai in Daniel and he has been refusing to admit it. He will be forced to let it out.

here's what I think will happen....Terry will attempt to get Johnny back on there side but when he decides not too then he will contact Barnes and he will come in st the end of episode 10 and go to Miyagido's dojo and confront Daniel and it'll show him just smile after seeing Daniel's face in horror and then end

One big question we all ask for are we going to see Mike Barnes in this season... that would be awesome

I think it should be importantly noted that Silver was listening to Japanese stock market updates before he took is stroll to Cobra Kai. This might be a sneak which Silver has connections to the japanese market and could destroy the deal with Doyona and LaRusso Auto

An irony for Kreese is that he may not realise he in 2nd to Silver, he may be reluctant to have Robbie teach Miyagi Do style. Seeing Kreeses arc and superior rank to the timid Silver in Vietnam may blind him to the fact he is second to Silver in terms of Cobra Kai as Silver has successfully learned from life
