Hello, I suffer from single-sided deafness, and I’m getting a cochlear implant. This is my experience of the first 11 days, and this video covers the recovery process!
I hope that sharing my experience is helpful to someone out there.

My Implantat is 6 days ago. Weak but stabil. Got the first orders from my wife to help. In three days I try to work half a day. Greetings from Munich. Bavaria. Still avoiding our wonderful beer. 😞

I was lucky. After surgery, no dizziness or pressure just felt different. took a month before they turned my non-everything is great can hear again. I recommended for anyone who has serious hearing problems. This is the way to go.

I had my surgery 5 days ago so I'm bed bound with vertigo too, watching videos about implants. The first two days were rough, but it's improving. Thanks for the video, nice to know I'm not the only one. Hope we did the right thing.

It is getting better each day, and make sure not to do too much once you get past the dizziness. It can come back. But, the device is working (I just put up a new vid today of where I am with it now).

@@bionic_band_director Yes better thanks, boy that first week was pretty rough. They turn the thing on next week, fingers crossed. I had the same pitch changes you mentioned, really looking forward to/ hoping that harmonies sound better again.

Oh my gosh! I did not know you were going through so much. Stumbled upon your vidoes after searching for cross linking for KC. And now a cochlear implant! You are such a fighter. Really hope you get better. God bless! :)

Wait i need to know how it went. Do u still get vertigo now? Hows the sound?? Were u completely deaf now u can hear sound like normal??

I went through the surgery too. You do not get sounds all at once, it will overwhelm the brain. You start with some sounds, like four different tones, get used to it, then you get some more and more till you get everything.

@KazukiMatsuoka can you hear everything? Does it sound just like your other ear?? I wish I got this surgery to be able to hear out of both. I've always been completely deaf out my right ear. Would be nice for gaming to hear everything

@geebolesgaming I got the first one when I was three, I can hear everything out of that. When I got my second one I was 20 and was only given 5% chance of recovering anything. But because I learned how to use a new ear at a young age I was able to train the other side myself, when you activate a second it is as if your brain clicks together that 360 surround sound and recognises it. When you first hear it you know and will immediately know the difference. However my second new ear hasn't been stimulated on low pitches for a very long time, so it's high pitch dependent and is very slow at catching up even after six years. I got 92% of hearing back which is almost a miracle. You have to retrain that ear and it is a lot of work in terms of recognising what words are supposed to sound like as some may sound the same so you will need to learn how to recognise their sound differences. But regardless I game as well, so I use a Bluetooth transmitter to hook up to a controller etc and the immersion is beautiful. Wear it all day, every day, if you game alot, then absolutely keep it on if it's going to allow your ear to learn and adapt. And as the weeks go on and you get it further adjusted with more audiologist appointments then WOW it will sound much better.

@KazukiMatsuoka wow that's so cool I don't have any hearing in my right ear. It would be a dream to experience surround sound

@geebolesgaming imagine hearing dolby atmos sound in a cinema, it's peak hearing. I have my implants linked to my phone and I can pair them to anything (the phone has to be a samsung or an iPhone for it to work, or you gotta use an accessory that can do that for you) so everything gets shut off and all I can hear is music or game in surround sound.
