I want to thank everyone in the surgery Operator. I have two Cochlear Implants. I got my first one at 5 and my second one at 8. I’m adopted and so they said that I was fine nothing wrong but when I was three Year old my parents mostly (my mom )thought that something was wrong because I wasn’t speaking so she went to 6 different doctor and they said that she just probably going to a late speaker. I have had lived my best life thanks to the wonderful 3 doctor . I’m in a mainstream school and I am a cheerleader. I do beauty pageants. I love music. I am truly blessed. Thank you so much
I got my cochlear implant in 2016 and it was the best decision of my life, I've never been happier and excited to live life. I had used hearing aids since I was a child but they never worked for me, I could only hear static and irritable noises. Thanks to all the doctors out there working hard for their patients!!
Hi Fernanda, thank you for sharing. We are working daily on improving our products and it's an honor for us to be part of your hearing journey. Kind regards, Gordana

I have been hard of hearing in both ears since the age of 8. I´ve been wearing hearing aids since 1972 - and have never been really enthusiastic about them. In 2007, I had 2 hearing losses in a short period of time - that's when my situation became complicated. Even with high performance hearing aids, in many situations I could only communicate by lip reading. On 25.11. of this year I was operated (unilateral, right side). This was definitely the best decision of my life. 1 week after the initial fitting, the doctor at the University Hospital in Frankfurt said that my hearing comprehension had already matured to a degree that many others would not achieve in years of hearing training. I have the Synchrony with a Sonnet 2 and I understand every word in the video - still a bit like a mixture of "Mickey Mouse" computer voice, but clear and distinct. Many thanks to Med El and my surgical team in Frankfurt. I watched the video only after the operation, because I can see normally rather no blood - and it is also very nicely presented - without blood - LOL ... ;-)
Hi Olaf! Thanks for sharing your hearing story. We are very happy that you benefit from the cochlear implants in such a great way. We wish you a lot of amazing hearing experiences along your journey! Kind regards, Barbara
I was reading a book on which had a page on a CI. I was wondering how they were implanted and I found this video. It’s very well done, the animation is clear and easy to understand and the voiceover is understandable for people with not much or any technical knowledge.

People with implants, do you like them? I've got a moderate hearing loss, not sure if its progressive yet. I know they sound weird, how weird do they sound?
When I got my first one in 2017, it sounded like a robot, I don't remember it that well. My second surgery was in August of 2019. My activation was unlike anything I've experienced. Cochlear implants sound as normal as a person who lost their hearing would hear like. High frequencies tend to be harder to hear, but it's sounds normal (this is coming from somebody who lost their heart in kindergarten)!
I love it has changed everything I can talk like a normal person I had to tell someone that I’m deaf and they were like are you joking and I’m like no. I am like nearly deaf. Yes they sound weird when you first get them just like a hearing aid. Or when you start becoming popular it weird when you first start. You will get the hang of it later it going to be second nature. It took me a solid month i think that was such a long time ago I was 5 when I got my first one and I was 8 for my second one. I think you should do it.
I love my CI. Best choice in my life so far. At the beginning it rather sounds like mix of "computerized Mickey Mouse", but your brain will learn in time to get normal levels of understandings - It depends on whether you were previously deaf, learned to speak and hear normally as a child, or were deaf from early childhood. Then it takes longer.
I am from India, my brother son is 3 years old.. He will have Cochlear Implement surgery tomorrow, I am very tensed.. Everyone will pray for him and may he get well soon

Hi there, thanks for your question. The sound is transmitted from the microphone of the audio processor through the cochlear implant / electrodes into your inner ear then. That means, yes, you can use head phones but you need to place them over the microphones of the audio processor. Or you stream sound directly to your audio processor (e.g. via AudioLink or AudioStream). Please have a look at our website for detailed information about cochlear implants and how they work: www.medel.com/hearing-solutions/cochlear-implants Kind regards, Barbara

Dear Paul, please be aware that we are not allowed to give any medical advice or recommendation. In general, a cochlear implant surgery is comparable to middle ear surgery with additional access to the inner ear. The normal risks of surgery and general anaesthesia are applicable. Therefore we’d recommend to discuss any questions and concerns you have with a medical specialist who you trust and who can take a closer look at your individual situation. Kind regards, Barbara

So Bone conduction inverse transducers that converts to sound with in the mid range to low range octaves of the basilar membrane with a dual microphone for noise cancelling How about a cure use serotonin and force a serotonin overdose on purpose to produce ca2+ to calcify on the auditory nerve to create an additional artificial octave and use resonate frequency to tap into that octave via harmonics as inverted transducer to produce low bit audio with UHF , to LF , to Elf and use ULf to power an internal bone conduction system with inductive polarity "wireless charging " you could also place the system in the nasal pharynx via the Eustachian tube from the mouth , Use nociceptors to tap into the broca essential cutting the potential damaged nerve by demodulating further in the brain instead of the apex of the ear and create reverberation from calcium located in the corpus callosum . who know maybe somebody will cure deafness from this comment.

Hi there, the cochlear implant system contains two parts: 1) the internal implant which is placed behind the ear, under the skin, and the electrode is inserted in your inner ear. 2) the external worn audio processor which can be put on and off. In this video you can learn more how a cochlear implant exactly works: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LhSpb36_1s4.html Kind regards, Barbara
