If I heard this while marching I would have no fear and keep a stepping without flinching at gunfire. I would gladly march into the thick of it with this tune, I don’t know why but it’s just.... deafening all emotions except for pride and courage.

My father used to play the pipes. His were quite old and made from sheepskin and I can still remember the smell as he would condition the inside of the bag and roll it on the dinner table to moisturise, condition, kill the germs and to supple it. Before every march he would tune his pipes up in our small bungalow ( the neighbours were possibly too afraid to complain) and occasionally a drone would airlock. I was a child at the time and because I had wee (small) thumbs, it was always my job to get my thumb in the drone (father had to kneel so I could reach them) and 'pop' the airlock out. I am in no way saying that I am a tad deaf from this because it may have been due to all the aircraft I worked on - all I am saying is there are gun dogs who might hear a bit better than I do now. lol
