I’m from Bethnal Green. I grew up eating pie and mash in the 50s and 60s. I’m 69 now. Shops with bench seats and tiled walls. Sadly the shops are gradually disappearing.

Yorkshire I have to admit does great tea. I mainly drink decaff and only a few weeks ago tried Yorkshire from Taylors of Harrogate. Don't think I'll buy another brand again. Yorkshire tea a proper brew.

Now that was a tiny mash portion also side note. Sposed to turn pie upside down into liquor give crust a good soakin!

Liquors only parsley sauce with 2 drops of sweat and abit of east end brick dust, it’s bloody lovely! 2 pies 4 mash and drownnnn it, Followed by half pint of jellied ells!

i often go to Cockneys with my dog on Saturdays after market day in nottinghill, not a bad place, its my third favourite pie and mash shop.

I'm a true cockney love pie mash and liquor havnt been for many years as I now live in Sheffield they don't have it up here and sadly no rock eel either 😔

Okay, as a true Cockney this is hilarious! In my opinion (although that pie and mash looked good) M.Manze in Walthamstow defo the way to go. 😋 When I was 10/14 I used to go to Walthamstow market (yes indeedy) on a Saturday morning with my mates and we’d have pie and mash (yes lol) it was the best! x

Liquor isn’t an acquired taste it doesn’t taste of anything!! Not until it takes on the flavour from inside the pie as well as the pepper and chilli vinegar you need to put on 😍

This is the only one I haven't been to, I was living in Acton so I was only 15 minutes away, The Angel one had chillies in their vinegar, the best was of Tower Bridge Road, and another was old Kent Road. But the one we went to all the time was Camden Road as it was on our doorstep. Great voog Lee ❤️

You have to smother it all over with chilli vinegar and add lots of white pepper and salt. Finally never, ever eat Pi&Mash with a fork. Use a spoon.

You can never say the best? until you have tried them all, by then you would have forgotten what the others were like. I personally have tried a quite a number of pie and mash shops in London, couple of points I notice there was no chilli vinegar there?? and like my comments on your F & C in Camden (Cooking) true liquor should be made with the stewed eel water.. Couple you should try are Manzes Tower bridge rd., Arments Westmoreland Rd, Kelly's Old ford but for me it's has to be Aements but will try Cockney's. But all lovely staple food long may it live
