I grow Jasmine plant using hydrophonic solutions, just kept in coco-peat in a small thermocol box. The plant is just 6 inches in height and i forced the plant to put on flowers using hydrophonic nutrients and now that plant has more than fifty flowers in it. That too a small Jasmine plant. You can use it if you can make sure that these chemicals don't mix with the soil in your property, it will destroy the bio-diversity in your soil. Giving artificial nitrogen to soil destroys the nitrogen fixing bacteria as it is no longer needed. This way, you're giving everything a plant needs artificially and your soil will be so rich with nutrients and plants give out their best. Later on, as the echo system in the soil dies, that very soil will become a barren land. We don't need to cultivate plants, we need to cultivate soil and let them grow depending only on the soil and no chemicals. Carbon farming or Regenerative farming seems to be a better option. You just cultivate the soil at low cost and that soil gives out the best including immunity for many diseases for plants. People who don't have much place, regenerative farming is a better option as you don't need much effort for bringing up plants, all you need to to create an atmosphere for the plants to live and produce fruits or anything you grow. All the time you need to cultivate the soil is 1 month and you labor time will be less than a day. Once you set up the opportunity for the useful micro-organisms to grow, you cover the soil with a bleck plastic sheet and keep it like that for a month. Post 1 month, when you remove the cover, your soil would have become dark in color, the true black gold in which any plants will grow. More over this way plants fixes carbon to the soil making it even richer, you don't have to do anything other than picking the weeds. No use of tools needed. Your soil will have the property to hold water from the top layer, so you don't even have to water regularly, you can leave it just like like for atleast a week or 2 without watering, but still your soil will be dry. Indeed mulching is needed as you don't need the sun to hit the soil directly during summer especially in Kerala, causing its roots heat shock. Keep yourself away from chemicals and dont make your lant barren land. If you grow plants in rooftop in drums, then you can use it. But not on earth directly. We have already suffered a lot with chemical fertilizers. Not any more. If you want to use technology in farming use the technology which benefits nature and enriches your soil than killing your soil in long run... Carbon Farming is one of the newest technologies used in farming. Other than growing plants we grow soil which helps plants grow healthy and disease free. This is because you created a system of microorganisms like bacteria in eath which feeds on the Carbon plants bring down to earth after photosynthesis. As these micro organisms consume it inturn, they provide the plants with the nutrients plants needed. Nothing is free in nature, but the trade happens between the plants and micro organisms so you don't have to worry at all. All you have to do us to water the plants once in a while as the soil will have better water holding capacity.
