Originally written and performed by the great folk artist and political activist, Buffy Sainte-Marie, this authentic anti-drug song was covered by an 18-year-old Donovan in 1964 for a demo tape he recorded for a record company in hopes of being signed. Some 40 years later when the tapes were unearthed, they were subsequently released as an album entitled "Sixty Four". I've loved this song since I first heard it when I was also 18, so I figured I'd cover it for the occasion that is both Donovan's and my birthday.
