In this episode, an early morning crash creates quite the troublesome task for Mike and I as we attempt to untangle a semi tractor and trailer that got tangled in the median barrier cable system. We use #11, our 2015 Peterbilt with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R Rotator heavy towing and recovery unit, our traffic control unit, and Kenny in the Western Star. As usual, the cables destroy everything they come into contact with and make our job immensely more difficult. Special thanks to Cape Girardeau City Fire Department for covering us during this dangerous job. We were only allowed to use the passing lane. We were required to allow traffic to flow normally in the driving lane, which created problems of its own. Anyway, we all made it out safely, including the driver of the semi. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!
Again, I wish to thank everyone who has expressed their prayers and/or condolences for the death of my Dad. The outpouring of support from my viewers has been tremendous and has helped in this difficult time. May God bless each and every one of you. Also, thank you for your patience. I am still making videos and trying to get to the new normal without Dad. I will continue to perform jobs and create videos, as long as God allows. Things will be different moving forward. I have to trust that God will guide me and this channel.
Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

As much as the recovery's are fascinating to watch... I still love seeing how the PD/SO or troops control there bit when it comes to traffic, the fire department seams to get to control the personal around the truck, till Ron and the crew get there then it is in Ron's hands... And they all shift back and forth on who is in the lead by what needs to be done.... WTG teamwork from all!

Good morning Mister Ron, I know it's Friday morning when you upload a new video, as always, it was enjoyable, those cable barrier cables must be a royal pain in the butt to work with, having to fight them to get a vehicle off the roadway, you and your crew are superior at what you do to get the highway open as fast as you possibly can, major kudos to you all for doing it quickly and safely, and you are one of the best teachers I have ever seen

Ron, you are such an inspiration and exactly what an employer should be like when it comes to the rapport you have with all of your personnel. Those cable barriers did a job on that truck! But they also kept the truck from crossing over. I read that some states which installed cable barriers had a 100% reduction in cross-over fatalities. It *would* be handy if there was a better/quicker way to release tension in an entanglement issue. Thank you for sharing, Ron!

I am glad that you mentioned how dangerous it is to stand near cables or chains when there is a lot of tension on them. I don't know how often you do stress/load test on your cables and chains but they can still snap at any time. I worked in aircraft maintenance for the better part of my 30 years on the job. I have seen them snap and it is never a good thing. You lift a lot of weight but a wide body aircraft is even heavier! I really love watching your videos.

I see that those cables make your work challenging but better to be challenging than distressing cleaning up after a head-on crash with a vehicle or more. It would’ve been nice/safer if the cable had been released to the point of being slack. You really need to trust each other! Those cables seem to have been placed on the highway’s shoulder, ours are in the centre of the median which would mean that the vehicle would’ve been slowed somewhat by the time they hit the cables.
@Spiran_SphereHunter
@Spiran_SphereHunter 2 года назад
It depends alot on the type of soil and weather conditions of a given area, It is absolutely pointless to put the cabling supports in the dirt if its not capable of supporting the force of impact, Many areas are too wet or crumbly and they need to be anchored in the concrete instead
@MichaelTucker
@MichaelTucker 2 года назад
While cables work with a car to attend the wayward vehicle, they are a real issue when getting tangled up with a truck. Seen many accidents where these wires will trip a truck and cause a rollover. Also this incident occurred early morning which is the worst time for fatigue-related incidents. You could tell in Ron's voice that this was a hard slog of a haul-out.

Another great video, Ron. I really appreciate all the work you do. And I love how you keep safe. I loved your Q & A video with Mom Pratt. Very informative.
