Code Geass R2 Episode 19 & 20 Reaction & Discussion! 

Rolo's death is best death not because we hate him but because the display of humanity. He did not renounce his use as a tool (he did save Lelouch), but showed how it ultimately it didn't matter. People do not care about the truth (even if it means that they're being used) but keep seeking/believing the future they desire. It shows good in a selfish evil, kinda portrays what Lelouch also does.

I personally feel some sympathy for Rolo's death, mostly because of the thing that he himself says, that being that his action leading to his death is probably the first real human choice he made in his life.

For all Suzaku's talk about the ends and the means, that was only ever his justification, not his actual motivation. Suzaku's real motivation was essentially the same as Saren from the first Mass Effect. Because he killed his father out of a belief that Japan could not defeat Britannia, he had to believe that Britannia was unbeatable for all time. The moment he would allow himself to believe that Britannia could be beaten, the killing of his father would become a meaningless act of murder and patricide. So the only possible way to change things for the better was to join Britannia and change it from within, no matter how long it took. This is why Zero was such a threat to him, because by creating the possibility that Britannia could be defeated, Zero threatened the one thing that allowed Suzaku to live with himself. Killing literally millions with the fleija allows Suzaku to finally move past that mindset because he has now done something so horrible that killing his father is meaningless in comparison. For the first time, he's no longer trying to justify what he did when he was 10 or everything he's done to get to this point, because you can't justify this. Even Nina can't do that, which is why she's going through her own crisis. So he can finally drop the pretense and look at things as they are and not as he wants them to be.

Nina is interesting character, I don't hate her like everyone else, but seeing her breakdown after the nuke was strong character development and scarred her and made her human. The opposite direction for Suzaku, he went from moral right person, justice and follow the rules and laws , now the ends justify the means and only results matter, he's a different person and his mindset changed

Rolo’s final scene still gets me so bad, it’s still definitely a good riddance but there’s something so sad about his love for Lelouch being so strong that he would do this even after being told it was all a lie. They really should have called Nina Oppenheimer, whining about the destruction she is the direct cause of. C2 chilling inside her own mind was a really cool scene and the reveal of Marianne was so good. I’m very excited for what’s next, we’re so close.

Schneizel is the kind of guy who makes the collective IQ of everyone else in the room drop just by entering it. That's just the kind of intellectual he is.

The BK turning was always going to happen however the way they did it was pretty bad. Sure the voice message is pretty decent but that could've easily been fabricated and ohgi was the one finally convincing them which sure but it was for love which is just stupid in this context. But what I like about this episode is nina and suzakus character development. We finally see suzaku realise he has to force things himself instead of just going along the wave and Nina although many hate her this moment is what got me to really like her character, a self absorbed girl representing Britannias effect upon the world that rise in the world and representing many in the world in the reaction of the nuke.

Sad to see it end but so excited to watch your journey through this series

The ending is so close its making me anxious. It is of course one of my favorite show endings and im sure you will love it too.

All my homies hate Nina, literal racist nuclear weapons engineer. She is like the girl version of "Huey" Emmerich from Metal Gear Solid, very narcissistic, even if she had been able to get close to Euphemia there's nothing to imply that she wouldn't have done something crazy and obsessive.

I hated the betrayal episode, the BK are idiots to believing their enemy on what they say EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST NUKED YOU. Schneizel is of course manipulative and I get that, but HE PROVIDED YOU NO PROOF OR EVIDENCE THAT LELOUCH IS ZERO OR THAT GEASS IS EXIST. Again Geass is a supernatural power and no one knows it exists. The BK aren’t even surprised that magic exists and said sure it exists. The only positives I have for turn 19 is Rolo’s redemption, otherwise I hate the BK for being incompetent idiots who don’t understand what magic is and think their on the right side. Again even though Zero can’t be trusted, if it wasn’t for him then the BK wouldn’t exist or gotten this far. Did they forget that?

I love this channel and I look forward to these reactions every week. My one ask. Can you please stop talking so much during the important scenes. Takes the sting out of it. Sorry
