its kind of funny, I saw somewhere that all Lelouch wanted to do was live forever with his sister, while Suzaku wanted to die to atone for killing his father. Though Lelouch died for the entire world, and Suzaku has to keep on living as zero

Her aware of the truth of him, while the crowd merely applauds the spectacle he laid before them, their futures safeguarded by their own ignorance. Canon-wise, that was it for Lelouch. The movies are an alternate timeline in which he didn't "die" (it is a bit more complicated). This ending, at least for me, can be interpreted in two way. One, CC is communicating with Lelouch the same way the Emperor communicated with Clovis in season 1. When people die they become part of the Great Consciousness, so she is the only one that could really communicate with him now. Or two, she is talking to "Lelouch" the same way Kallen was "talking" to Lelouch. And once again, congrats to Danielle on the new job and wish her the best.

Confirmed the movies are canon now though wasn't it?
@Excellor64
@Excellor64 3 года назад
@@bluestratos1901 It actually isn't. The original work is this series. Later on "recap" movies were made and some events were changed. Any movies are based on this Alternate Timeline created by those movies. There are a few other things that are part of the original canon like drama CD's and whatnot, but the movies are its own thing that have nothing to do with the anime-original story.
@Dr3aMy00
@Dr3aMy00 3 года назад
Actually it's confirmed Lelouch survived. How i know? There is a deleted scene, where it shows lelouch smilling after CC says "right lelouch?". Reason they removed it, was to make the ending more open. However, this is still the complete ending to the original story. Reason, this "Version" of the show, won't be getting a new season. They made the ending ambigious to the viewer by not having the part where he smilled in it, tho taking from the deleted scene, he did infact survive.

This is a qoute from the Code Geass Official Guidebook. "For those two who bear the heavy sin known as killing their fathers, they share the belief that they can forgive each other by imposing the greatest punishments on themselves. Death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death. Suzaku, who accepts the weight of Zero's mask, gives his gratitude to Lelouch. For the fact that he can atone for his sins. For the results of fulfilling his own wish."

Lelouch is dead, at least for the past 12 years. The creators decided to make "an alternate timeline" where they resurrected him and Shirley to sell more CG stuff in 2020 for a quick cash grab. But yes, watch the movie if you want a quick nostalgia experience. Also, CG is a great rewatch. You pick up on the things you missed the 1st time, and you'll get a newfound appreciation for the storytelling. A lot of people don't like the fillers, but they were quite meaningful to Lelouch. The main reason why Lelouch didn't turn out like Light Yagami was because of the support system he had at the school. The school taught him the importance of bonds and relationships, invoking the inherent goodness in him. It helped him appreciate and understand the happiness of those minuscule moments of chasing cats and running around the school after giant pizzas while providing thematic contrast to the death, killing, and war that was going on in the foreground. Also, season 1, in my opinion, was instrumental in the world-building and the drama of it all. Again, everything that Lelouch experienced was instrumental in his decision in the finale. He would not have understood defeat, loss, and desperation were it not for the events of season 1. He would not have understood people's continuous struggle for a better future. Also, it's amazing to me how they manage to create parallels in both seasons, e.g., Euphemia and Lelouch's deaths. When Lelouch killed Euphemia, she was touted as the evil demon while the Japanese screamed their rallying cry for "Zero! Zero! Zero!" as Suzaku grieves on his own. For this finale, Nunnally grieves on her own, loudly crying in the sea of chants of "Zero! Zero! Zero!" But notice how in season 1, Euphemia's death was followed by absolute chaos, destruction, and confusion. In season 2, Lelouch's death was followed by a moment of peace and prosperity in which the world was able to restart anew. In season 1, Lelouch was winging everything, thinking he had the smarts to win in any situation. He kept talking about how overall strategy beats real-time tactics, but he never actually had a big strategy in season 1. Thus, a lot of his actions resulted in a lot of collateral damage, chaos, and suffering. Now in season 2. he was able to formulate a bigger strategy called the Zero Requiem, and after executing it, he was able to resolve a lot of issues and help move the world forward to a better future. Also, I hope y'all remembered that on the very first episodes and on this finale he mentions the exact same thing that how those who are prepared to kill should also be prepared to be killed.

Lelouch did not establish peace just by becoming a world dictator. He laid the foundation by creating UFN first. He destroyed Britannian nobility (part credit to Schneizel) and also removed native military. He created a world that has greater potential for world peace than ours. This is really saying something considering that they started a warmongering aristocracy that publically approved exploiting the weak.

There is a movie that takes place after the show you should definitely watch; there's 3 recap films they released before it, that redid the show and changed events. For the most part it's similar but if you see people who are alive in the movie but was dead in the show. It was the recap films that changed it.

The movie doesn't take place "after the show" because all 4 movies are part of a non-canon alternate universe and thus aren't connected to the show. The Resurrection movie takes place after the trilogy movies, not after the anime

Thanks for finishing the series! Glad that you all enjoyed it! If anyone is interested in exploring the events of the Zero Requiem in more detail, I highly recommend the manga "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Re;". Without giving too much away, it seems to acknowledge events explored in other Code Geass titles and also sets the stage for the "Lelouch of the Resurrection" manga, yet 'Re;' also references certain plot points that only happen in the original series rather than the compilation movies. It establishes what might be the closest thing to a direct continuation of R2 that I have encountered so far.

Lelouch is truly dead, there is no doubt about that, so it's not a cliffhanger. The show staff officially confirmed he's really dead and never had a code. C.C. at the end was talking to a dead Lelouch in her heart, like grieving people also do in real life. There used to be a hoax "theory" which falsely claimed Lelouch was still alive, but the show staff contradicted that and the community fully debunked every single point of that hoax, the anime's established lore itself makes it literally impossible for Lelouch to have a code. As for the movies, they are a non-canon alternate universe. In the movies he dies too, because that was essential for the "sense of ethics" of the show staff (their own words), but unlike in the anime movie-C.C. couldn't accept Lelouch's death, so she literally resurrects his dead corpse against his will. That way they can continue the franchise and squeeze out more money without ruining the perfect ending of the anime.
