Kinda too late but id recommend the english dub for code geass simply bc its actually good enough. I think i tried doing the recaps before watching resurrection movie and found it to be a little pointless, but if youre gonna do the recap anyway, try it in dub.

About Lelouch/Suzaku, from the official guide book: "For those two who bear the heavy sin known as killing their fathers, they share the belief that they can forgive each other by imposing the greatest punishments on themselves. Death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death. Suzaku, who accepts the weight of Zero's mask, gives his gratitude to Lelouch. For the fact that he can atone for his sins. For the results of fulfilling his own wish." "Lelouch, who gathered not just his sister's but the sins of all of his kin, tells Suzaku that he wants him to kill him. And, atoning for his sin of killing his father by becoming Zero and devoting himself to world peace. That is Suzaku's wish. Pierced by Suzaku's sword, Lelouch dies with a satisfied smile on his face. The curtains are lowered upon the history of one boy who performed the perfect 'evil' to the end." About Nunally, from the official guide book: "In the end, Nunnally isn't even allowed to bear her brother's sins. Until right before her brother dies, she seems to want to hate him for that. Upon realizing the truth behind her brother's actions, Nunnally clings to her brother's corpse and wails. And then, she succeeds her brother's will and starts walking together with Suzaku, who has become Zero, down the road as a ruler who creates peace. Because that alone is the one and only thing she can do for her brother." About Nunally finding out, from an interview: Q: "How did Nunnally manage to realize Lelouch true intention, when she touched his hand at the end?" Staff member K: "The way Nunnally can tell that someone is lying, just like she was able to tell that Lohmeyer was lying to her, is that she can feel the hand of the person she is talking to is sweating or lightly trembling. It's nothing like Geass or some special ability like that." Staff member Y: "Yes. So, she simply came to conclusion [Lelouch was lying] by herself, because of this ability." Staff member K: "She is Marianne's daughter and Lelouch's little sister. Two months have passed since that defeat of Schneizel and for this two months she's been wondering constantly about what had happened, like "why it happened?" and so on. So when she touched Lelouch's hand at the end she felt that he is calm, she put the two and two together and realized the truth. Of course, we know that in anime, it's hard to explain things like that, but yeah, please accept it like this kind of "romantic"(*) idea" we had." About C.C. from a magazine: "C.C. - Her wish was to die as a human, but after spending time with Lelouch, C.C. also wished for tomorrow. She made up her mind to ensure the tomorrow of the world that Lelouch had left."
@ReactCity

man that guidebook is straight up poetic. "Death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death." Thank you for all the information and clearing up nunallys ability. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to read into that or not lol

I'm glad you liked it and it's true CG gets better when you rewatch it because you can pick up on a lot of small details that really make you appreciate the work the writter put in. Like, if you rewatch the first 6 episodes, you can see how much Suzaku is ready to save Lelouch's life even at the price of his own ( twice in the subway, then fighting in the Lancelot, then when he's a prisoner and keeps the secret, on the roof of the school); it's the kind of things your forget but after rewatch you understand why Lelouch really didn't want to kill or even geass Suzaku...

@garywillig5143 Год назад
Something to keep in mind is that Lelouch and Suzaku came up with the Zero Requiem when they both thought Nunnaly was dead. It wasn't about her, but about the world. That's why Lelouch was so distraught when they found out she was still alive and why Suzaku had to tell him they couldn't change the plan because she was back in the picture. Lelouch showed his character growth by finally putting aside Nunnaly's needs for the greater good instead of dropping everything because she was in trouble or because she disagreed with him. The odds are their entire plan would have been very different if they knew Nunnaly was alive, since Lelouch even stated he had no reason to live after he thought she was dead. Schniezel serving Zero means that if necessary, he can come up with Zero's trademark brilliant plans and they can all pretend it was Zero's plan. Suzaku doesn't have to be as smart as Lelouch to pull off the deception to the world since Schniezel can take care of that part. That's the purpose of the Geass put on Schniezel. Lelouch had to play the villain to make himself such an attractive target that Schniezel couldn't resist meeting him in battle and giving him a chance to take over the Damocles before Schniezel could enact his own plan to nuke the whole world from orbit. Both Charles and Schniezel looked down on the rest of humanity because they were part of the royal family their whole lives. Both sought to remake humanity and essentially freeze it in place so that there would be no more war and conflict. Lelouch had a different view of humanity because of the years he spent living as a commoner and then as Zero and seeing how much power their passions could unleash. So his plan alone of the 3 would allow humanity to continue to progress even if there was no more need for weapons of war.

I think the ending of this anime is perfect! Lelouch will always be my favourite character. I cry so hard every time thinking about how Lelouch died despised by the whole world, including his friends and his sister that told him some terrible things the last time they met. Nobody ever gave him the benefit of the doubt and always trusted his enemies. Yet, he had the strength to go on with his plan. Zero's mask that Suzaku will have to wear is not that heavy now that the world is at peace. I think that Lelouch's death is the "punishment" for the evil he did, but also a relief for him because he did horrible things and mistakes that were really heavy to bear. At least, Kallen and probably Cornelia understood in the end (she knew Lelouch was Zero so she probably figured out something was up). I love your reaction and the attention to details you pay! Thanks for reacting to my favourite anime!

If you think about it. Lelouch wanted to destroy Britannia at the outside as Zero and Suzaku wants to change Britannia in the inside. But it was Lelouch who changed it inside by becoming what he hated the most, the Emperor of Britannia and Suzaku change it to the outside by becoming what he hated the most, as Zero. Lelouch, his first order was "DIE" got killed by his best friend that was ordered to "LIVE". Lelouch wanted to live because of his sister, but died as a punishment for the greater good. Suzaku wanted to die because of his father, but lived as a punishment for the greater good. Zero, the symbol who committed evil acts in the shadows when Lelouch was behind the mask and Suzaku at the beginning wants to be a Knight of Justice but at the end portrayed as a Knight of, not only the Knight of the Massacre Princess but also the Knight of Zero under dictator Lelouch. But now, Suzaku as Zero can now be a true Knight of Justice as how the public strongly view Zero as. If you rewatch episode 5 in season 1. They foreshadowed the ending. The scene where Lelouch and Suzaku was on parallel with each other. Lelouch moving the white knight chess piece to topple a black king chess piece.

I have to make another comment here, because this is one of my favorite anime of all the 200+ anime series I have watched. And I must say that this ending is the best one I have seen in all anime so far! I love the series and I'm happy that you watched this one too :)
@l554446l
@l554446l Год назад
19:55 Nunnally's touch was not an actual power. Someone also explains this here in the comment section (see comment from Pablo Abad Martínez). But, yeah, that was a little confusing. 22:42 Lelouch's slaves were NOT running towards Lelouch; They were running for their lives because they were being chased by the people. If you pause at that part, you will see in the background some of those guards are being held down by some people... The Geass persists after death. After Charles died, the people whose memories were altered by his Geass were still under its influence. The way I believe it works is not like some magic spell that requires constant mana from the caster to be active. Their Geass does not require them to sustain it, much like if I were to edit a computer file, then I have edited it already and would stay edited even after my death. 23:20 I watched Code Geass so many times, but I think it was only after my fourth time watching it that I realized Guilford was running down the stairs. Maybe he just pretended to be blind to have an excuse to hold Cornelia's hands. :'> (I also thought he was peeking through the blinds there, but I just rewatched it and he was not looking through but just standing with the others near the blinds.) 23:35 I think Cornelia's just being Cornelia. She's also smart enough to put two and two together after seeing Zero stab Lelouch. 24:27 Yeah, it won't be the same. And that's why it was important to keep Schneizel alive as the brains. But unlike before, the Zero now is a ninja. 30:15 In my opinion, Lelouch is smarter mainly because they live in different anime environment. What I mean by that is that Lelouch's plans are more surreal but works in their world, but I don't think it would in Death Note's environment. I mean, Lelouch is smarter because I don't think Light could have pulled off that recording stunt on any character. In fact, I don't actually think it could be pulled off in a realistic way, which is how the narrative works in Death Note. 31:32 Suzaku and Lelouch being unstoppable if on the same side has been hinted several times in the anime. It's one of the good things to look for if you rewatch the show. :) 39:57 This anime has great rewatch value. It's because it is so fast paced that there are A LOT of tiny scenes inserted between other scenes that when you rewatch it, you'll notice and say, "so that was mentioned there." (Yet, that's also why it's too much for first watch because of so many things going on at the same time.) But I agree with Niquey that it's hard to begin to rewatch this. I think it took me months or maybe years to watch the series again. One of the best endings not only in anime. And to think it was direct to anime and not based on a piece of literature. It definitely is not perfect and you could see flaws especially in rewatch. But it closed full circle, in my opinion. A law-abiding Japanese who wishes to change the Empire from within and seeks to die continues to live as a symbol of rebellion. And another; Since beginning his rebellion, a Britannian who rejects his royal lineage ends up changing it from within by dying as an Emperor.

The recording was actually pretty realistic imo. He only mentioned C.C. And how he knew her real name. In the recording he is actually quiet for an unnaturally long time before responding in an unnatural manner that only tangentially relates to what Mao said. He gathered that based off of his affinity to C.C. that he could exploit it by predicting he was going to talk about how C.C. means more to him than LeLouch. Than LeLouch responds with him simply saying he knows C.C.’s real name, and lying about how close they were. He never has to respond perfectly only tangentially relating to what he said to have the same effect. Remeber, Mao wasn’t totally there too, he isn’t going to act like L whatsoever. His genius intellect is there but grounded which I like.

Strange- 5:02 the subtitles are inaccurate Lelouch never thought of the word 'defy'. His thoughts are roughly translated (not native speaker here, self taught): "I see. So you as well, Nunnally... In that case " He only came to the decision to use Geass on Nunnally at that moment because their fundamental idea/will was the same. To focus the hatred of all to allow humanity to move on. So in this case he wouldn't be totally warping his sister's will, which is why he probably was able to overcome that inner conflict. Kinda find that pretty important.

i did find it an interesting choice of words. "I see. So you as well, Nunnally... In that case " sounds much more resigned which fits given what he is prepared to do. ill show the girls as they are both learning japanese

In season 1 that scene where Suzaku outruns the machine gun, I think that was put there knowing the big pay off won't come until the finale where Zero outruns the machine guns and fans instantly know it's Suzaku under the mask. Planting one scene as a pay off later for a bigger scene, Code Geass took that to another level.

There is a pretty popular theory about Lelouch “surviving” by taking his dad’s code. Basically when Lelouch killed his dad he got his code as his geass had just matured (in was in both eyes). So if he had code why did he still have his geass? That is because if you noticed when Charles took VV’s code it didn’t activate until Lelouch geassed him to shoot himself, so you have to die once for the code to activate. This also explains how Nunnally was able to see Lelouch’s memories as people with code can transfer memories (unintentionally sometimes). As for what happened to Lelouch after he was probably taken by CC and they are traveling the world together with Lelouch going by LL (for Lelouch Lamperouge) that last scene is probably supposed to suggest Lelouch is there as there is an origami crane and CC said earlier she can’t do origami but Lelouch can. This has nothing to do with the sequel movie though but that is based off the recap movies which are a different timeline so we can assume Charles’ code disappeared when he died
@IsilionNELE
@IsilionNELE Год назад
the theory isn't "popular" at all. nobody believes that conspiracy theory anymore because the community fully debunked every single point of it the anime's lore makes it literally impossible for Lelouch to have a code. On the 2009 DVD C.C. even explicitly confirms he's really dead. and even the writers have officially stated that lelouch is dead and never had a code

The movie isn't a recap movie in an alternate universe, it is a continuation of the story in a branch timeline. Akito the Exiled is actually a recap in an alternate universe, it literally has no bearing on the rest of Code Geass and is just an expansion of the lore.

I think you're slightly confused. -There are 3 recap movies that cut out some content to make it more bite sized. This includes the removal of Shirley's death (and relevance). -The movie you seem to be referring to (Lelouch of the Re;surrection) is a sequel to the version of the story in which Shirley didn't die. -Akito the Exiled isn't a recap at all, but a side story set chronologically in between R1 and R2.

Akito the exiled are not alternative timeline so you don't have to watch this series again by watching the recap movies! Recap movies are NOT necessary to watch Lelouch of the re;surrection movie, which is continuation of the Recap movies, therefore continuation of the another timeline. This anime series' timeline ends here! So the bottom line is this: if you want to watch the series again, with some changes, watch recap movies. But that being said, I would suggest that you do not watch them right after this series, because it's still basically the same story with some minor changes. Lelouch of the Re;surrection is what I suggest that you watch after you have watched Akito the exiled. It is the alternative universe yeah, but you'll catch up easily, no worries there. Of course in my opinion, this anime series ending is perfect, so something that happens after this, at least for me, was somehow just a bonus. Good movie but nothing more

Dude, watch the anime again because you are 200% wrong. Everything C.C. tells us about code visions shows us that the scene with Nunnally cannot be a code vision! Code visions are random memories of the RECIPIENT, said C.C., so Nunnally can't see things she wasn't present at. C.C. also said code visions contain random shock images, those weren't present in the images with Nunnally. Even the writers have aid they were not code visions given by Lleouch, they did so in Mook Animedia (28 January 2009, p.89-90). On top of that, Lelouch can't have a code because the anime's established lore makes that literally impossible. We can even see that in the anime, Nunnally reacts and gasps BEFORE the images are shown! So she isn't reacting to the images, the images only serve to show the audience what she understood. And the way she understood is based on 2 elements shown in the anime before 1) she has the ability to learn the truth by touching someone's hand, which has been shown several times before (e.g. with Suzaku and Alicia Lohmeyer) 2) Nunnally had the same plan as Lelouch, except with the Damocles as the focus of hatred. Lelouch himself confirmed that, it was the reason why he got the resolve to geass her to hand over the Damocles key. That's how Nunnally understood, that's the meaning of that scene. It has nothing to do with code visions. Also Charles indeed got geassed and died. The fact is though, we don't know if Lelouch got the code or not. @@someguy3508 There's a fandom document which gathered all the info, the interviews, the guide book, the tweets, etc. google "code geass evaluating" and you should find it. It's quite long with all the sources. Yes we saw C.C.'s memories in the trap because C.C. was the target, confirming the established lore. lelouch just got sucked into it too, just like how Lelouch, Suzaku and C.C. were all 3 in the same code vision in Stage 11, we even see Suzaku and Lelouch standing side by side while they are in the vision, so we know it's possible for that to happen. Charles never got geassed. pay attention and you'll see Charles never had red rings around his eyes and there was no brain reprogramming scene. It was the exact same was Lelouch tried to geass C.C. in season 1. And charles never died, because we saw he was already immune to geass. The fact is that we know the lore makes it impossible for Lelouch to have a code. The lore very clearly states that you lose the geass when you get the code and Lelouch never lost his geass. Suzaku doesn't have a code at all, what gave you that idea? He's still under influence from Lelouch's geass long after Charles was erased by god. If Suzaku had had a code, he would have been immune to the geass. If you believe C.C. sent the code visions to Nunnally then why are you trying to use that point as proof that lelouch has a code? Lelouch doesn't even factor into that interaction. But Nunnally saw nothing, the episode is very clear on that. She reacts BEFORE the images. The images don't match what C.C. explained about code visions. Seriously, google the fandom document, you'll see. Also, the DVD isn't another version of the anime, it's the exact same anime, but C.C. narrates in the epilogue.
