Hi Chris I think your suggestion for who ever dislikes this version to lay in traffic is a bit harsh.The key word in your comment is "taste" people have different tastes in music.I totally respect this mans talent and he obviously is a good player and has an amazing voice.That said, I can see why some people may not love this cover.I remember my mom and dad playing Rodger Miller records when I was a young kid in the 70s and I always liked this song. The orignal version is kind of simple and Millers singing is smooth and clean but has a raw,unpolished quality to it which to me is the charm.(Sorry this is so long). I didn't hear the song for probably 20 years or so then about 10 years ago I came across the Artist John Doe doing a version, just a simple a voice and guitar version and I loved it. John Doe seemed to capture that simple essence of the tune.Today I remembered the song and looked on RU-vid for a guitar tutorial. I had no clue that the song has been covered so many times by big name artists.I have never heard of Cody Johnson but look forward to checking out his music. The other Roger Miller song I love is "king Of The Road"
