Cody Johnson is real country, he puts out great songs. I guess I need to get to Huntsville Texas. I'm red, white and blue through and through. The things he describes are not happening in my area. I disagree that law enforcement has fought for our first amendment, I have personally seen law enforcement shut down good church events. The statement that law enforcement couldn't do anything to change his support for them. Come on Cody, ever heard of red flag gun laws, these hurt the American people and are not American ideals. Where I'm from law enforcement has no problem enforcing tyrannical laws on the people as long as they are exempt. I know that you are partial to law enforcement from your service in the county jail. I will never support someone or some group that would sell out their own people for a paycheck. Other than my rant I agree with what you say. I have no problem with the message itself. In fact, I agree with it to a large extent. But artists who preach on stage typically do more harm to their career than good. Prime examples of this would be Ricky Skaggs and The Chicks (Dixie Chicks). And they had a lot more hits than he does. CJ isn't as popular outside of Texas as he is here. Speaking for myself, if I want to hear preaching, I'll go to church. When I go to a concert, I want to hear music. The tickets are to expensive to listen to some artist take it upon themselves to preach to others. A musician's opinions, whether I agree with them or not, carry no weight with me. They're musicians. Of course, it is his right to do so if he so chooses. Just like it is my right not to pay out my hard earned money to listen to it. Regardless of whether I'm a fan or not. Which I am of his music. I'm just not a fan of artists using the stage as a pulpit for any reason whatsoever. They aren't there to do that. They are there to play music.

Artists create a platform. Its their stage to entertain and perform from. I was entertained and when we drive from AZ to Waco, TX this fall I'll be entertained then too
By no means am I criticizing what he's saying or question the truth to it. I just don't want other peoples political views, whether I agree with them or not, shoved down my throat. And I sure don't want to pay for someone to do it. It is bad enough to go on social media and read post after post by armchair political experts. Everybody wants to force feed us their politics. And if you don't agree with what they say, they become defensive and try to force it on you. I'm not like that. I believe there are 3 things you never discuss: politics, religion, and sex. Each of those topics are private. I vote how my heart tells me to. I kneel before God and the list stops there. And as for sex, that's nobodies business but mine. That's my right as an American and a free man. So when others overstep those boundaries, they are infringing on the freedom I have to make those choices without any influence or interference from others. And that goes for any human being. So for me to go to a concert and have to listen to someone preach their personal beliefs to me is something that goes 100% against the grain with me. No matter who it is. Just like these people who expect me to respect their culture while they are trying to destroy mine. It isn't happening cap'n.
I agree with this 200%. I stand in the same way you do on this. I know some folks are inspired by this kind of thing and having their beliefs affirmed. Personally I keep those items fairly private as well. I am an entertainer as well and I have and will never preach my beliefs like this for all the reasons you said. 👍
