Imagine being able to play an entire fight as a highlight reel, absolutely nuts. Definitely one of the most legendary performances, if Cody brought what he brought to Cruz to every single fight, he'd be much more lethal than he is, such a shame he is on a loss streak
What's overlooked is that Cody fought Cruz much the same way he's always fought. Its just his style at the time in addition to the coaching advice and experience fighting Cruz imparted from his teammates at the gym, was the perfect storm. Cody basically won most of the fight off of his physical attributes, not necessarily down to technique. Cruz has a very awkward and unusual style, he's not a counter-puncher nor does he hit hard and in the exchanges particularly in the pocket Cody was able to outland and knockdown Cruz on account of his speed and power. He was still using those alternating hooks, overhands and leg kicks like he used in every other fight. He didn't really use a jab, nor many feints. To his credit though he wasn't biting on any of Cruz's feints. What's also overlooked is the success Cruz had in the fight, particularly in the final round where he was able to stifle Cody simply by jabbing him at range. And in the second when he hurt Cody. But by then it was too little too late for Cruz. People think this performance by Cody was some kind of masterclass, but in truth in it wasn't. That's the Mandela effect in action once again as it wasn't domination, Cody won a 48-46 decision but all the showboating and movement Cody did throughout the fight as well as the couple of knockdowns convinced so many people that he was going to be a future great.
@@madgavin7568 so ur gonna tell me that headmovement, footwork, and timing is just 'physical attributes' thats takes a lot of on the feet thinking unlike old ngannou who would swing and hoped he connected
@@butmunchr69lmao88 Cody's head movement is entirely reactive, never in anticipation of shots. He doesn't move his head off the centreline at all, it gets him tagged against almost everyone with elite level striking. Cody's timing is decent and he has good footwork. But those things alone don't make him a good fighter, he suffers from poor fight IQ and composure when he gets cracked. Cruz didn't have the power or technique to crack Cody like TJ or Pedro could. Cody was able to get as far he did because he was so fast, explosive and powerful for the weight-class which TAM was able to mold into an anti-Cruz fighter. But one who couldn't replicate it against anyone else at the elite level. In a way Ngannou is similar, but he actually backs up his freak power with an insane chin, and has the drive to work hard at the gym to improve his overall game and fight IQ. Allowing him to not only KO the consensus UFC HW GOAT, but defend it against one of the very few who can defeat him in the striking department. Plus he's a Heavyweight, and that division is different.
@@butmunchr69lmao88 Ngannou has the drive and intelligence to learn new tricks and evolve his game. Cody does not, he's a meathead who thinks he can keep replicating the Cruz performance in his next fight after another to no avail. Cody's mediocre chin combined with lackluster striking defence is what results in him getting knocked out.
His fight against Cruz was legendary. He was on a level above everyone that night beating Arguably the best Bantamweight in the world and one of the best fighters in the world.
I was so fucking excited for his comeback match against kelleher. Cody's a fucking beast and I would love to see him get back to dominating the division again.
Here after his loss to Kai... He gave the best performance in UFC History, you see him now and you just... You just want to cry... - December 12, 2021.
TJ Dillashaw vs Renan Barao and Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez were the best performances in UFC history. Total shutout performances by the winners of those fights, at no point was the loser ever in any control. Meanwhile Cody Garbrandt vs Dominick Cruz was a 48-46 decision, very good performance by Cody overall but vastly overrated as Cruz had his moments in the 2nd and 5th rounds.
The best ever. He will KO Cruz in remacth, Tko Tj, KO Aldo and holloway. Conor WIll be his only undoing. I hope he dosent face Conor when he moves up. Its too much for him.
@@vivien_mtt3540 Only the TJ is got wrong but alsomost KO him bell saved TJ from being Tko. He will now face Aldo then I will be back here to make fun of you making fun of me hehe ;)
Are Pedro Munhoz, Rob Font and Kai-Kara France also juiceheads? Perhaps maybe Cody Garbrandt is a fighter with serious holes in his defensive game which has resulted in his bell rung too many times.
I knew two guys that loved one another but no one eles had the balls to figit them so they had to fight one another the prettended to hate one another just to please the crowed
