I'm from the Upper Midwest and we always called it coffee cake. This doesn't mean there is any coffee in the cake, but rather a moist cake with icing drizzle that is eaten with a cup of coffee on Sunday morning. :) That crumb topping is also fantastic on a single crust apple pie instead of an upper crust. So yummy!!
I thank you for using ounces! Being an Aussie, our cups and spoons are different sizes to yours, which makes things tricky when converting. Siri converts to grams so easily and I can make your yummy recipes!
I planned on purchasing a new commercial kitchen aid mixer but watched one of your videos and got the stainless steel Bosch. The first time I used it I was shocked at the power it had.
Thanks tried this today. It's came out exactly like yours. Super delicious ..kids loved it. Tasted the curmbs for the first time. I'll skip that step next time if it's for my consumption only :) .
Hands down one of the best baking channels on YT. You are awesome. New Yorker here (now in Brazil) and my mom always called this a coffee crumb cake. LOL Can't wait to make this today and bring in the New Year correctly. Happy New Year!
Yummy. Gonna try.. hurray. Bosch universal mixer….I luv mine too. Good for baking bulk things. Like chocolate chip cookies. And lots of them…..350. Cookies….arghhh….yum…yum.yum. Cookie Monster….ahhhh…yum..yum…yum…. Mmmm. Mmmm. Coffee crumb cake….Arrrr….yum.yum.yum.. mmmmm think me fool now. Strange…I’m from east Canada and coffee cake was the go-to dessert. It just took me 2 hours to do all the combining, mixing, assembly, before I could put it in the oven. Whew. Now to wait 45 minutes + 2 hours before I can ice the beauty. Meanwhile I’ll listen to some country music and enjoy the cup of brew. Amen.
Hi. Me again. Made this cake again after you adjusted the crumb portion and added fflour to the printed recipe. It was on spot and so yummy. No problems at all this time. Yum.
Thank you for sharing this! I've made coffee cake and crumb cakes several times and could never get the crumb just right. It always comes out too hard and not at all soft. I see now my consistency looks much different than yours. Following a visual recipe is much more helpful than just reading it. Thank you, again!
Hi liz.. I was suppose to comment on your chewy double chocolate chip cookies but I just cant cos it is not allowing me to leave a comment.. I want to thank you for sharing the recipe.. It is awesome..the best cookie I ever tasted.. Thanks again.. Tomorrow I will try your chocochip cookies..
Hi Anna! My recipes are only in ounces and grams because it is more accurate to measure by weight than volume. I know it’s a new challenge for many people but it really makes baking easier, I promise! I have information about how to use a scale and an ounces to cups conversion chart on my blog post if you can’t get a scale right now though: sugargeekshow.com/news/digital-kitchen-scale/
Looks like what my stepmom made 💓 Thanks, Liz! Yep, you truly do have the best job ever! Hey did I miss something? Have you transitioned from home to a studio?
Bakers take note: Written directions say, "Once finished baking, rest the loaf at room temperature until the pan is completely cool, about 2 hours." I never heard of that, letting a cake cool in the pan for that long and that's probably why my crumb cake turned out like a brick!
Hi in U.K. coffee cake is coffee flavoured cake, not cake to eat with coffee! Looks good, will try thanks for oz, we don’t have same butter stick size in U.K. & cups etc make USA recipes difficult to make👍🤗💕
You are hilarious thank you for putting the video together about using this scale and ounces I asked the lovely Baker for recipes and she says she gets them from you and I'm more familiar with the cup method so thank you again and thank you for sharing and keep on caking
Girl your coffee crumb cake looks so good, and your recipe seems like I can do it but then I saw it read OUNCES. Girl I can barely use cups 🥺, how can I convert ounces to cups ? Plz tell me because I want to use your recipe?!
Hi! Thank you for your comment. My cake recipes are only in ounces and grams because it is more accurate to measure by weight than volume and I don’t want anyone’s cake to fail and waste ingredients. I know it’s a new challenge for many people but it really makes baking easier! I have information about how to use a scale and an ounces to cups conversion chart on my blog post if you can’t get a scale right now though: sugargeekshow.com/news/digital-kitchen-scale/
I'm shocked (in delight!) to see that someone has finally managed to cater for all international audiences by having the ingredients listed in units of measure NOT limited to the USA!!!
Hi so I used your vanilla cake recipe and it came out good but I believe I over mixed it and it tasted a little bit of corn bead lol 😂 but it was still good next time I’ll be more careful
Elvira Gonzalez-Chaure did you use cake flour? My vanilla cake needs cake flour because of the reverse creaming method. AP flour will make it turn out like cornbread
Hello great recipe I'm to the point of the crumb, and I do not see the flower measurements in the recipe... Very sad 😢 Am I not seeing right I have my glasses on I'm a little confused, 🆘
I made this cake today and it was a miss. Went back to the recipe; did and used everything it said. Kept thinking why didn't the crunb topping have flour? Midway during the bake when rotating the pan, the sugar was a syrupy mess. It baked, then hardened, then sunk. The edges tasted good, but gooey and inedible the rest. Rvisited the video and sure enough; you added flour to the crumb in the video, but left it out of the recipe. Will you please correct the recipe, let us know how much flour we need, and repost it. Thanks. Still want to trythis again.
@@SugarGeekShow thank you so much. Will try later this morning. Still looks yummy. Will also let you know the outcome. Stuff happens. Be well and keep safe.
I tried the recipe! Oh the cake turned out so amazing. I used dark brown sugar instead and it gave such nice caramelised toffee flavour ..... I loved it. The crumble was my favourite layer. I will grateful if you checked out my post on ig..... mittho_angno. I tagged you. It isn't as perfect as yours but quite close.
