Hi Bertha! I love food history, especially when it has some interesting twists and turns. Thank you for letting me know that you also enjoyed the bit of story. Have a wonderful day!
The history was wonderful! I enjoyed it very much. Especially as I have studied art history where the Medici name is popular. Coffee is one of my favorite flavors so this is exciting! However I am Very sensitive to caffeine so I will have to work out something... Using decaf beans I supposed. Maybe just a lil espresso pwd?? OH My! I have choc covered beans. Maybe I will chop those a bit & add a few also. I know it will be great! Thank You for a wonderful treat! Big Warm Virtual HUGS!!
Hi Becky! If you're sensitive to caffeine, a good substitute would be decaffeinated ground french vanilla. If you can, get the beans ground to a VERY fine powder. You don't need a lot. I have found that instant coffee/freeze-dried coffee is OK, but doesn't quite have that same "special" as when you make it from ground coffee. Thank you for taking the time to write to me - I appreciate it - have a happy and healthy day!
@@KetoMealsandRecipes I agree powdered does not have the right flavor plus I have heard it can be cross reactive for gluten sensitivity as they use barley some how in the process. So I really would not like that in my ice cream either. I will look for decaf espresso beans & see what I can do with that! Thank You for the tips! Brilliant as always dear Lady!! I don't remember so well these days; where in the world are You located? Is fall approaching where You live? Sad... I need all that light of summer; I feel myself in fading already 😥 This too shall pass... next spring!! 😂🌸🎉 Big Warm Virtual HUGS!!
Hi Becky! As I mentioned, Decaf french vanilla beans or grind is also good for this recipe. If you do use pre-ground coffee, re-grind it to a very fine consistency. I live in Ontario, Canada. Here, we also have a regular decaf grind from Tim Horton's that is very good. I absolutely agree with you. I really miss the warm sunny days during fall and winter, and we find getting up in the dark and coming home in the dark quite depressing. I envy the snowbirds that can fly south to enjoy sun and warm weather, but this is not part of our life. I, too, forget...where are you located? As always, have a very happy and health day, my dear friend Becky!
@@KetoMealsandRecipes WOW! We live about as far apart as possible from east to west 🤔 I live on the border of Oregon & Washington. At Portland OR across the mighty Columbia River is Vancouver WA, where the river turns & runs straight N for about 45 miles; at the bend where it turns back to the west is where I have lived for the better part of 42 yrs in Longview, WA. It would like to put You in my weather app so I can see how You are getting along with the weather if You don't mind telling me what city You live near. Those states near You seem to have very much worse winters than we have here. My climate is very mild compared to Your region as far as I know...?? We get temps a couple times a year in the 20's for very short periods & in summer we get close to 100 again, a couple times a yr for a few days but overall other that a LOT of gray skies & rain our climate is moderate. I have a penpal in Ohio to the SW of You & she gets BAD snow & harsh temperatures compared to me. I don't have Tim Horton's but I will check around & see what I can come up with. My local Winco store is very friendly & if they don't have something, they won't mind me using their burr grinder 😃 Thank You for sharing Yourself & Your hard work with us!! You are a jewel!!
Hi Becky! My husband is also a weather app fan, and loves Google Maps. Your town looks lovely! I had family who lived on Vancouver Island, and on our last family road trip, we took the ferry from Vancouver Island to Washington, drove through the state, and down the west coast and visited many states from there back to Ontario. The United States is so diverse and beautiful! We live in Richmond Hill, an unofficial suburb of Toronto. Please feel free to write me via my email in the About section of the channel, if you want to just have a chat - I love having pen pals, too! Looking forward to more chats - have a great day!
It's pronounced "ESpresso", not EXpresso. Thanks for this nice recipe and your unique and wonderful recipes in general. I appreciate your true gourmet approach to taste. You've taken keto to a higher level.
Hi Pearly Q! I absolutely agree, I mispronounce espresso, which is quite funny because Italian is my second language. I must have heard it incorrectly as a child, and no one corrected me, so the mispronunciation stuck. I'll have to work on that :-)
Hi Stephen! Thank you for your question. Adding the milk powder absorbs the water content of the milk and cream, which helps to reduce crystallization when chilled or frozen, and results in a smoother, more velvety texture. Because we use more milk than cream in gelato (versus ice cream), the milk powder acts like a stabilizer. Milk powder can be bought in most grocery stores - you don't need any fancy brand, and skim milk powder (which is easier to find) will do. As for a substitute, you could use guar gum, or gum arabic. I cannot find these locally, so that is why I use milk powder. Have a wonderful day - Cheers!
I agree with you. I love custard based ice creams. To me, they are very close to the Haagen Dazs creaminess. The gelato series is also a custard base, but have fewer eggs, and are based on the Italian ice creams that we enjoyed while travelling through Italy. I've made a condensed milk ice cream as well, which is more like the Dairy Queen texture.
