I enjoy that JV has a bow & arrow, like he's "shooting." Question of the Week: I would probably choose the coffin vault & tray set over the art tray. While the art tray sounds cool, I just like the shape of he coffins ⚰️
"STOP TAKING ALL MY MONEY", I yell while throwing money at every wyrmwood product there is. The art trays would be sweet, but I've got two coffin vaults that would look sick in a coffin tray.
That art print from Randall was dope! As for the strap, why not redo the strap somehow? Like two smaller straps at the top and bottom or maybe a cross cross. I’m imagining “chains” to prevent whatever is inside from getting out. It would add to the aesthetic and be functional.
I was thinking something similar, a strap with a window; one thick piece that wraps around back where the fasteners are and the piece over the front has a cut out (so it would look like two thinner stripes around the edges) where the logo would be. That way it's sturdy, doesn't get tangle up, and doesn't impede the vault and box design.
OK, here’s my idea: Make a small piece that looks like a set of fangs, but the teeth are actually spacers that wedge in between the coffin tray and coffin vault to hold them in place at four points. It is cut out in the middle so the corrupted logo shows through.
You need a "high end" looking rubber band or magnets to keep the coffin vault in the coffin tray. Something small that doesn't detract from the corrupted logo on the vault but still holds it in place.
I thought the same thing when they said they didnt like the strap. I was thinking they put hidden magnets under the felt or whatever of the coffin tray, and maybe place magnets in the underside of the coffin vault, I dunno. MAGNETS EVERYWHERE!!
The coffin vault is an existing product. They would probably want the tray to work with existing vaults, as well as not modifying the design "unnecessarily".
Make it look like a mummy wrapping/straps over the coffin vault to hold it in place but still shows the logo. Additional addon when buying a coffin tray if you want that setup.
Weekly: coffin vault. Also, sink magnets under the leather of the tray. Slip little magnets on the bottom of the vault. That way, the vault locks into the tray, skip the strap. Make it strong enough to hold, but weak enough to fail the Quinn test so you can pop it out.
I remember seeing the teaser for the critical role vaults earlier in the week and it blowing my mind. I didn’t think it was possible to make the intro any cooler, but you guys fucking did!
I think it'd be sweet if the Wyrmwood dragon was featured on an art tray design!!! The art tray is a REALLY exciting idea, with all of Bobby's ideas for its functionality and aesthetic possibilities. Not to mention, us Wyrmlings have a great appreciation for innovations that won't lead to craftsmen tearing their hair (not Jason) out
I just love the editing on the last few eps, it’s so fun and adds so much. Like it was good and had character before, but now it’s a presence all it’s own in the show. It’s great
Bobby or Matt whoever put DGD in the exit card, I love you with a fiery passion. Wyrmlife is so dope, thanks for the laughs and quality f****ing content.
As a hardcore Critter the beginning of the video starting with that rendition of "Your Turn to Roll" sent chills down my spine. Three things that keep me going in life are Critical Role, Wyrmlyfe/Wyrmwood, and D&D Beyond.
Another addition to the Art Tray could be a plastic cover for the front. So that when it hangs on the wall it does not collect dust inside. This works really great for people who want to enshrine a mini and or dice from a great campaign and then it becomes a piece of art with a story and history.
Are you going to be selling that poster anywhere, by any chance? If so, a bunch of us would be rather interested in that! It looks amazing and we love it. :3
When I travel with my dice tray and dice vault, I have them in the box they came in. It doesn't look the nicest but it helps prevent them from getting dings and such during transport.
Bobby, I will say, if you do add hardware to the back of ‘art trays’ make sure you’re all aware of how far they stick out, and also how the feet sit too. Generally art hardware is at the top center or about 1/3 down on the sides, with bumpers on the bottom corners to prevent too much axis rotation from the hardware to the wall. But generally no bumpers at the top, so I’m not sure how the feet will work. Also, Doug is right, you can find small lights like that for shadow boxes, I just am currently not sure where.
The moment I heard vegan leather my hackles went up. Nobody I know has had good experience with the material, it just doesn't last. And the fact that it's actually made from plastic and is terrible for the environment doesn't sit well.
Vegan leather? VEGAN LEATHER!? Bobby, no! Is there an issue with the art transfer onto the tried and true premium oiled leather? Other than that, I will be first in line to buy an art tray.
The Critical Role intro gave me chills. It was so gorgeous! I would buy the coffin tray set over the art tray not a fan of the art, personally. The corrupted logo looks so cool on the coffin tray!
Did not get even 60 seconds in before Crit Role purchase happened. Two of my favourite enterprises, in one product - very happy, even if it will take an aeon to get all the way to Australia. Can't wait!
With you guys announcing upcoming kickstarters and the coffin trays, any chance we will get an episode covering the status of the dice kickstarter and the corrupted kickstarter? I would be interested in a slightly technical one about how you fixed the inlay problem you were having and any upgrades to the shop.
Great combo of my 2 favorite RU-vid subscriptions (Critical Roll/WyrmLife) AND favorite scene of Engineering (Jason) "saving" the day! Best Dougie quote: "Are we all idiots?" ROFLMAO!
For getting the coffin vaults to fit in the coffin trays, a couple of weak magnets under the leather of the tray, and in the back of the vault (possibly under the foam in a cutout) would be one way to get the vault to stay in place. Not as strong magnets as you use for the vault lids or you'd never get it out (so it wouldn't pass the Quinn test), but enough to hold it in place if it was inverted.
Coffin trays please. Frazetta doesn’t feel like a Wyrmwood match to me. But I’d buy a coffin-shaped game table. Coffin anything. Except a real coffin. I’m not yet ready for that.
Personally, I'm not too interested in the art boxes, but I'm liking that coffin tray. I think the corrupted logo should be on the leather inside. That way when you remove the vault, you've still got the logo there.
Can I get regular leather? 😛 Instead of mounting hardware do magnets and a plate - similar to Displate. Or the 3M stripes. I’ve banished all nail/screw picture frame hardware in favor of the 3M/magnet methods!
I cannot believe this - my Crit Role stuff has arrived! This is incredible - I only bought it 6 days ago, how is that even possible to get to Australia in that time, it's...a miracle!!!
I suspect I might have been one of the earliest orders :-) You guys are amazing, between you guys and Crit Role you have literally gotten my son and I through some very dark times, and now we're playing D&D fortnightly again. These will take pride of place in our collection of Wyrmwood Products. My tiles have arrived, my other vaults are here, plus I was lucky enough to win Ginny Di's dice competition, so looking forward to that. I've bought a table, and dice love Wyrmlife, and so glad to be part of your community. Thanks everyone at Wyrmwood. PS totally love Loot Goose, it's embedded in my psyche now, linked to Wyrmwood, can't wait for that too. Elbow bump to all you lot from down under.
Also you are crazy the box you guys have is dope. My entire group all agree the boxes are nice and we would love to carry and show off something inside of it.
Instead of a leather strap can you do a leather gasket that slides between the vault and the try to friction fit them together? If you make it a littler deeper than the tray you can remove it fairly easily. #descriptionquestion coffin vault ftw
As an unlocked wood, you can offer a bleached wenga on the coffin vault. The bleach turns the grain white. Putting it inside the coffin tray will make it look like a skeleton.
Man I love Jason just solving such an easy design "issue", and Doug saying, "are we THAT dumb?" Weekly Q: I'd love the art tray, I game in one area and don't really need to transport things via vault much.
On the coffin trays/coffin boxes: make the strap an "X" shape so it holds the coffin box in well but doesn't look super clunky. Could put the corrupted logo on the snap for the strap (since it would cover up the corrupted logo on the coffin box with this design)
on the Description Question: Frank Frazetta Art Tray. I like using a bunch of different boxes for dice depending on the amount I need and my mood. I don't have a tray that I "love" and it would be an amazing wall art piece when not in use. I'm really into the idea of things still having functional or extra aesthetic value when not in use. Plus... it's Frank Frazetta?!
