I went with the A80k and with their new update you also get the gaming menu. I saw a video saying that the screen size changer is coming in an update later on so I wouldn’t doubt that even the A80k is getting it as well. Great video! You’re right about now caring about what the specs say it’s all about real world application.
I have the A80J and I love it. After calibration is 99% of reference quality. The upscaling of 1080p is amazing. Google TV interface is better than anything LG or Samsung. I am waiting for the A80M or A95M (next year) before I upgrade. Unless I hear more about PHOLED which is supposed to be the next BIG thing. Way brighter with way less heat which means less burn in worries.
@@wking8dont do it. Its a scam. I calibrated and it looked so terrible. You buy a sony for their superior processor ,reality creation that makes the picture 3 d and live color. Why would you Limit yourself to a borring flat and grey calibrated setting? Dont fall for this trick brother
Lmao. And what if the intentor created a terrible and dull and flat picture. Are you ok with it because it is "how it was intented" instead of improving it through sony Power processor?😅 why dont you buy a LG for this purpose if you dont like improved(non calibrated) pictures?
Just coming across your videos for the first time. Really nice job…I like your relaxed style and the way you communicate your opinions…really works! Are you Canadian by chance? The way you say TV (ie with the emphasis on the “TEE”) is like the late/great Norm MacDonald who was Canadian.
Sony tvs has always had weird wifi disconnection issues. Best way to resolve it is to use Ethernet cable or even upgrade to a gigabit USB Ethernet dongle and it will improve network speeds on it.
DRC is very helpfull on weak 1080p sources , low bitrate mainly on sat programs and dvb-t , auto set give much more sharpness without annoying artefacts
I bought the A80K 55 Inch for 999$ best decision I've ever made and I get 10 free movies with bravia core and I finally got to see Drive I own it now on bravia core
You made It danny!! I will always have a soft spot for Sony being that as a kid in the 90’s it was top tier. I am currently running a Samsung S95B which shares its panel with the highest end Sony.
@@salesfocus6270yes. Sony is superior because of the processing reality creation and abilities to improve a bad looking flat dull picture the "intendor"created into a sony improved picture. Its just sad to see that many people with such a great sony tv still fall for this Marketing calibration scam
I'm trying to wrap my head around using the TV as a center channel. Just bought my first Sony TV (A80L arrives tomorrow) and I'm looking to get a soundbar. Possibly Sony as well. Isn't the Center channel considered the "most important" channel in terms of how much sound it produces compared to everything else? I'm def willing to try, it just feels counterintuitive to purchase a soundbar and NOT use its center channel. Am I crazy? Don't answer that
At $2,699 (on sale), is the 77" A80L a worthwhile upgrade over the 65" A80J? I like my A80J, but wish I would have gone with a 77" instead... The A95L is just too expensive at $4,999, so I've ruled it out (unless it goes on a fantastic sale). I'm also debating on upgrading from my HT-A3000 to the HT-A5000 soundbar (I have those same Sony rear surround speakers in this review video). PS: A 77" OLED is the largest size I can fit into the space in my media room.
Just buy something and be happy with it ffs. Im going for the A84L which is an A80L except with improved out the box calibration, a metal remote and extra bravia core credits, its a currys exclusive at the exact same price as the A80L. I get it next week and I will enjoy my A80L for 5+ years probably 7 or 8 years as I'm not a videophile or a spendthrift. The A80L picture and software will satisfy me for 6-7 years. The warranty is 5 so why upgrade before warranty is up? it's just being materialistic and childlike - always needing to have the best, then people wonder why they are always working and broke.
GREAT video. You nailed it. I have the A80L 77 and I think it's great. So much so that I am upgrading to the A90J 83 in two days. Your observations about the "cognitive" processing were particularly interesting. Every once in a while my Sony seems to get a little lost in it's color palette (gamut). Thanks for the nice work.
Then upgrade to the 100" then the 200" then the 1 million inch....just be damn happy with what you bought. I upgrade after 6-7 years, I mean the warranty is 5 so no point upgrading before anyway. Rampant materialism.
Hi, really enjoyed your presentation. It's presented in a nice relaxing way. I've picked up some helpful points.....so I've just subscribed. I for one appreciate all the effort and time you have spent just trying to help us guys out here. Top marks 🤗🤗
Lol mine disconnected from the internet tonight but reconnected I like the a80l it’s better than my old Vizio oled I came from and I only paid 800 for it after all said and done
@@unknownsource4359 The XR Cognitive Processor debuted with the A80J in 2021. This year the A80L includes the additional XR Clear Image feature, the first major update to the processor.
@@unknownsource4359 It has the same processor and in 77 a80j You have oled evo so really no need to feel ancient... it's not like from year to year is really big difference between tv's... it's all marketing to convince You that You have to buy new one.
How did you feel about going from Sony ("true to life") from LG? I got the Sony A80k but honestly watching it feels like work and now everytime I see an LG OLED I feel like that tv is what I should have gotten the colors just look way more fun and the darks look truely inky.
Hmmm well I'm pretty sure LG makes the Sony OLED panels so for me it's felt the same for picture quality. Like I said I prefer the Sony interface and software. My LG C8 interface sucks and always tries to overthink for me, like for example it will always turn motion smoothing back on when when I turn it off when I change sources.
Glad somebody finally attempted a comparison between the clarity options in the K and L series TVs to show what kind of differences there are. From what I saw, this actually makes me feel better about my purchase of a X93L (that features the older processor). As for the screen resize feature, that is coming in a later update. The K series also got a limited game bar update but they won't be getting some of the features like the Black Enhancer (or whatever it's called) and Screen Resize.
@@DMSpartan there is a difference, but it isn't some unanimous consistently better upgrade (at least on the a80L). In fact in quite a few instances, I preferred the non xr clear image.
Did it ease your FOMO honestly? I consider the x93l and the a80l for my living room with natural light. I choose the x93l but with this clear image should I have gotten the a80l? I have no way of looking at them side by side in SDR
I just bought a 2023 OLED SONY TV + a HT5000 soundbar, SW5 sub and RS5 rears. TV+soundbar combo for the S center function - yes its amazing but the hissing is not fixed in the 2023 lineup - COMEON SONY! soundbar just died the other day - wont turn on - it was 2 weeks old sub is not well calculated and being too light it vibrates and that makes it move - i have to put a weight on it to sit tight rears are sooooo quiet unless you mess with the settings manually but that means to bypass the autocalibration which should give more performance all in all for a 2200 Euros home cinema kit - extremely disappointed. would not recommend. oh almost forgot - soundbar would not connect to mesh wifi for some reason so bye bye apple airplay. VERY bad SONY!
@@clou1969lol.i once owned a LG TV and it was the worst TV ive seen in my life. I Upgraded from a 10 years old Samsung and the LG looked way worse and blurry. Then got the Sony and Bam. Real sharpness and 3d looks with reality creation better colors and processing. Im not sure how people thst tested both can actually talk good for the LG.
