For OLEDs in monitor use: - Set the taskbar to hide and only pop up when cursored over - Set your desktop background as pure black or a gentle animation that lets every non-black pixel change over time - For extended browsing sessions, use it in full-screen mode, or experiment with custom solutions to auto-hide its UI - Dark mode everything Comment below with more tips 🙂

@@michaellubeck8464 why? monitors are full of useless features that justify overpricing them compared to TVs. i game in 60hz, and at 4k you can barely go over that. then theres the fact that if you sit in a spaceship with a 20, even 32 inch display... hows that any immersive? theres no match to a 65 inch TV 1m from your face flying in the universe of elite dangerous (add to that a head tracker and you can even look around. buy 3 TVs, with head tracking and you have a full cockpit) only positive of "PC monitor" label is the Gsync/Freesync compatibility and displayport both mostly seem pointless to me. big drawback of the TVs is the smartness. man i wish they made the QD OLEDs in dumbTV version...then again, netflix 4k is barely working on anything EXCEPT smart TV apps. so now you have an immersive screen, with 4k netflix support that a pc can only do on windows in the edge browser or the app still.

Fears of burn in are history. I've been using a Vizio OLED since it was released as a monitor. I set the taskbar to auto hide, use a black background, and a screen saver. That is all and I have zero burn in. It is actually semi annoying since I want to upgrade, but I can't use burn in as an excuse.

I want the Sony A95K (but not badly enough to pay an extra $1,200.) Heck, even the 55” A95K is $700 more than the 65” Samsung S95b! That’s crazy to me. I would love the sound that the A95K can produce, but for that kind of extra cash saved I will make due with my BOSE Atmos 500 home theater. Many say the Samsung S95b native speakers are really good, so maybe it will surprise me.

Your comment on #1 Static TV was hugely important to me. My mother watches a lot of news and business tv so this is especially applicable to her. I've kind of known about this for years but it was nice to hear you reinforce the point. I'm not sure if future plasmonic oled will eliminate this for good but that is a ways away. Not sure if my mother will be around to enjoy it. I'll have to figure out what you suggest instead of OLED for these business news consumers.. Off I go to another of your videos...

I’d probably stay away from the OLED unless she is a video expert and can see/notice the differences. There are great QLED or any other advance LED TV that will offer great pictures, usually brighter without any worry about a static image burn in. Also, if she isn’t gaming or stressing over watching 4K content at its best, an OLED would be overkill for general/casual daily TV use.

I don’t like to watch tv in the dark. In my basement H/T the couch is exactly 8ft away from my 65” and I don’t have the space for anything bigger so I’m looking at another 65” maybe the S95B but I have the lights on most of the time other than maybe the last hour or so before I call it a night so brightness definitely matters. I’ll have to check out the S95B & G2 and see which is brighter but regardless I will go into the service menu and disable any auto dimming that is on by default. I probably do 60/65% of my viewing upstairs living room or kitchen so burn in probably won’t be a problem on my end.

Good info FOMO. I agree with pretty much everything you covered, but from from experience is when. your comparing IQ of TV, especially the most common brands like Sony, LG, Panasonic and now Samsung is there really is not such thing as getting one that doesn't have a beautiful picture. Any differences between the different ones is minimal at best and unless you're comparing them side by side in your own home you will never be able to tell one apart from another in IQ. They are all beautiful. I would pick my TV now based on how plan on using it, like gaming, movie watching or both to see which features are most important to you. The whole brightness thing about QD vs non, I wouldn't use as buying descision anymore. I have a 65" QD S95B and it has beautiful picture, but because it recently died on me (won't power up longer) I opt'd for Samsung to give me a refund instead of replacement because they don't have the parts to fix it. So I purchased a 77" Sony A80K (which was actually $300 cheaper then the S95B) and couldn't be happier. This being my first 77" TV, I"m more impressed by the size improvement than I ever was by the small increase in brightness which you mostly will only see in the highlights. So many movies out there only put on 1000 nit content anyway, so you won't hardly ever see difference in average use. Plus I forgot how much I like having Dolby Vision again which you don't get with S95B. Long store short, always go for biggest TV you can afford and fit into your room. That will be way more impressive of an upgrade than a set with little more brightness.

Thank you for this very useful summary, FOMO. I hope you don't mind answering this question about Pink Tint and DSE: You and other Reviewers have specifically mentioned how WOLED compares to QD-OLED at the 65" size. But do you know if these two issues get better or worse for WOLED at the 77" size? I am seriously debating three choices right now to upgrade from my current and beloved 65" LG C6: 77" LG G2, 65" A95K, or wait until next year. If you know the answer to my question, you can help me (and hopefully others) out a lot!

@kiisseli1337 Год назад
You can wait forever. If you want new tv now, I would get it this black friday, or earlier if you find a good deal. I have read that 77” G2 panel is very clean, cleanest WOLED so far. It is also Ex. 83” is not. I have also read that 65” G2 has more problems this year. Between A95K and G2, get the bigger size, if you desire it even a little bit. I would also check if you can get decent 83” deals. That will not be as bright or clean as 77” G2 or QD-OLED’s, but then you are getting something to beat/match next years 77” QD-OLED’s. With 65” or 77” WOLED you are not going to do that of course. But don’t wait too long, there is always something better coming. I have 77” CX, 83” A90J and 55” S95B if it matters. I don’t think QD-OLED beats size.

The pink tint issue is greatly overblown. I don't know if I've ever noticed it in real content. I only see it in full field grey on menus. Definitely wayyy less noticable than DSE

Thank you for the responses! I am starting to lean more toward a 77" G2 because of your responses and other videos, like one of the latest on the G2 from HDTV Test. (Vince actually kind of answered my original questions: pink tint and DSE are apparently better mitigated on the 77" panel vs. the 65" panel.) I am still somewhat on the fence since I haven't been able to see G2 live yet, but I did just see an A95K and I have to admit it was very impressive! I'll have to see if I can somehow locate a local venue that would allow me to view a G2 and an A95K side by side with the same content. (Maybe too tall of an order?)

@@joes3800 the one thing I'll say is that you're definitely going to notice the size jump of a 77 as compared to a 65. The difference in quality will be pretty small compared to having like 15-20 percent more screen. I would get the G2 now and enjoy it. 3-5 years from now you can get a QD OLED of the same size or bigger for an upgrade. Right now with QD OLED being year 1 and only in a 65 id just rather have a larger tv if it were me. This is especially especially true if you've never had an OLED before. You'll be wow'ed enough just going up to OLED. But yes it's always a good idea to physically get in front of some TVs and actually see what you think before you buy anything. One interesting thing is if you put an OLED in a QD OLED side by side and a bright room you will find that the QD OLED doesn't have true black. The lack of a filter literally allows the light of the room to alter the black level. This is actually one reason why they don't usually put QD OLED next to OLED in showrooms.

Please help! I’m stuck deciding between a 55 inch A80J and a 48 inch C2…they are both priced the same at my local store. Will I be sacrificing a significant amount of brightness if I choose the A80J? I would love to have the C2 in a 55 inch size but it is way out of my budget. 70% of my screen on time is done in the evening, however I need the screen to be bright during the day as well. I’ve also considered a 55 inch q90b as it would be the best of both worlds, but I hear bad things about it’s local dimming bugs. I would sincerely appreciate your recommendation. 😊🙏

I want to know whats considered by tv tech standards, as a "bright" room or "dim" room. Its subjective for sure. My living room is obviously brighter during the day even with shades and curtains closed and dimmer at night with a single lamp on. I wouldn't say its bright compared to a room with full light coming in through large windows though. What's bright for me may be dim compared to other environments. Would be nice to see demos of these tvs in different lighting scenarios instead of just pick this if your room is bright or pick this if its dark.

Greece: S95B 2150€, 77" C2 3300€. We are talking more than 1000 euros difference. C1 77" is at 2500. I don't know if it is even worth it to go for 77" at these prices. Although I really want a bigger screen cause my living room is big.

I am torn between S95b and G2 still. I can get the 1700 eur for S95b 65 inch or 1950 eur for G2 65 inch. Samsung is tempting but G2 seems like a safer pick.

I have a Samsung HD 40” TV which I’ve had for around 10 years. Sometimes I watch TV/films and stream during the day as well as at night. I want to get a bigger screen 55” maybe a 65” at the right price, but I don’t know whether to get an OLED or a LED. 🤔

Okay. Not to be THAT contrarian, but I have to chime in about the "not worry about burn-in" section of this video. I purchased Sony's Flagship A90J OLED around two years ago. I used it for mostly streaming and light video gaming. Last month, I noticed a horizontal burn-in bar towards the bottom of the screen, mainly noticeable during scenes that were reddish/orange. Come to find out, what caused it was RU-vid'S PROGRESS BAR!!!!! Yes, okay, I readily admit that I watched tons of RU-vid on that TV... but for cryin' out loud!!! I, too, was mollified by the whole 'burn in doesn't happen these days" malarkey.... and would never have imagined in a million years that the RU-vid progress bar would cause burn-in on a Sony Flagship OLED. I am completely gutted. And no, that wasn't a cheap TV either.... which makes me even MORE salty! PS: There is a bittersweet ending, thought. This gave me the excuse to replace it with the 77 inch Sony A90L. That is, no lie, the best television experience I have ever had. Bar none.
