Sorry guys! at 9:52 i believe I accidentally left an extra clip over the project timeline in the video haha! Just ignore and listen for those 10 seconds!
Thank you man! I do appreciate your help in choosing coilovers. I've been researching and I found Raceland coilovers which apparently are in the" Budget" area. I have an underpowered car (2001 Celica GTS) and honestly i just want to look slammed..so I'm thinking this would be the cheapest and most reliable way since they're only about $400 + any ideas on Raceland coilovers? All the other budget ones are a a tad more expensive and people make them sound about just as reliable. Thanks once again
Great video man. What coilover would you recommend for a 2012 335is. Under $1,000 or do I need to spend more. I'm just looking for looks and ride quality. Nothing for the track or anything.
Oh man theres tons! What year is your bmw? I will be making a new video on euro cars and coilovers. In the meantime it really depends on budget and purpose of the build but right off the bat for just daily driving purposes, BC is good
Hey man! Loved the video, I have a 2008 Lexus IS250, it's my daily driver, was looking into BCs. If I plan on keeping the car for its whole life, would you say they're good to get in terms of lasting long?
xaznranmarux Thanks for the support!! Awesome car! I believe in anything can last depending on usage! In terms of daily I believe the BC brand products will last you a very long time, if you are referring to them in terms of full functionality. Remember you can make most items last as long as its used and cared for well. I dont know how long you plan on keeping the lexus but in my experience if coils last about 3-5 years then its solid for a daily as most people trade/sell their vehicles within that time. As for my own vehicles I have the Apexi coilovers on my Nissan 240sx (5+ years) still 100% functioning My S13 240sx (Stance coilovers Gr+) for about 3 years still 100% And my corolla has the T3 coilovers (3+ years) and still 100%
02 Lexus gs300, been riding on the tein comfort sport since day 1....less than 500 miles.... currently on 238k miles and two sets of the coilovers later.... Time to move on, more affordable options.... Looking full bodied adjustable; dampening adjustable. Not overly stiff ride What’s your take on Less than 1k price. Like BC br, God speed Mono RS, or Megan’s.... I researched and am liking the ISC coilovers. What’s your take on those as well
i have 2000 toyota avalon w/ GodSpeed mono ss coilovers with dampening adjustable , reuses old top hats. 30k miles and still going. dampening set in the middle of soft and stiff & lowered 2.5 inches (iirc) all around. i drive daily over bumpy streets n occasionally hit small potholes . no signs of being worn or blown out yet. less than 800$ retail i think. but i paid 250$ brand new for mine from craigslist. hope this helps
This is a very good video!!! Could you help me with some questions? I drive a Mazda 3 2014 (3rd Generation) I daily the car and I am never going to track it or anything along those lines (Slow car life) I am currently looking at Godspeed Mono SS coils ($800) Any advice and any personal experience with Godspeed? I would classify them as entry level coils...
How are the K Tuned K1 super low coilover ? How do u compare those to the Tein Street Basis Z Getting into the coilover game for the first time! Cheers.
Hey I have a c 300 2016 sport package with stiff suspension. I was looking into BC coilovers, I live in NYC which the roads are bad. I daily drive it as well. I was looking for a bit softer suspension system. Do you think coilovers wpuld be a good investment? Thanks
JRZ coilovers are amazing, and I met a guy in my 350Z at the road race track that had them on his 350Z. He told me the model he had, looked them up online... JRZ 14 31.. $13,000. No joke. His car is dedicated 110% race car. Even though mine is dedicated as well, I couldn’t justify spending that cost no matter which way you split it.... $2,000 is my upper limit usually, so, I went with KW Variant 3. $2,100 shipped. 0 complaints. 110% amazing results.
Awesome video funny and to the point keep up the good work 👍🏼 I'm looking into buying coilovers for daily use so I had tein on 6th gen accord and now 7th gen civic looking to purchase tein ? Would you recommend
I was looking to get coilovers for my s13. I don’t plan on drifting or tracking the car, maybe occasional spirited driving on the weekends. I plan to keep it clean and have nice fitment not super slammed. Preferably wheel to fender. The coil-overs i plan to get is Silvers or BC Racing ($1k range). Would you suggest keeping the spring rate that comes out of the box 8k front 6k rear or is stiffer springs better at 10k front 8k rear?
Keep it the factory setting rate, if you go stiffer it becomes a bit uncomfortable to drive. If you are looking to get a better comfortable coilover that rides well and performs well (sporty) I would suggest the Apexi ExV If you want just lower ride with no adjustability (in terms of Camber and multi ride height) then go with drop springs which is still super comfy to drive on and lowers the vehicle.
I bought a right hand drive s13 and i am at a lost for parts to buy to achieve my build goal. I am aiming for a daily driven at times some fun driving. Thank you
Hello, I was hoping you could help me. I have a 2016 Ram just like yours, I’m have problems when I get off the highway it won’t back to normal ride height. I’ve spent a lot of money and it still isn’t right. What do think the problem?
Hmm thats a tough questions to answer without a proper diagnosis. Could be compressor, the computer than controls the compressor or the sensors going bad. how many miles does your Ram have?
I want coil overs that don’t have me leaning against my door when I’m making sharp turns especially when driving in the mountains. Anyone know what I’m talking about? Please offer some suggestions.. gracias 🙏🏽
What are you guys thougts on tein street advance Z ?. Im slapping it on a 2004 wrx My use for the car is just for daily drive but also want to have fun and have that lowered stance look and have
Xshadowshadex for daily that would be a good option! Mostly depends on Budget and How much adjustability you are wanting in terms of Height and dampening.
Hey I just got my Honda Civic Si 18’ I’m barely getting into the tuning system. My goal is to have a nice looking car I don’t race or drift. This car is going to be my daily, I’m looking to lower it just for my wheels to be fitted... any recommendations?
I know this comment is super late, but what's your opinion of bc br's? trying to find a decent coilover for my daily wrx. Are fortune autos worth the price/wait time over bc's?
SpaceN3rd i personally would go fortunes only because they are rebuildable and good investment if for long term. Now long term to me is defined as how much usage you plan on putting on them. I try to calculate miles, how long I realistically plan on keeping the car, how much abuse I plan on putting it through (track usage) Now bc coilovers are rebuildable as well. Depending on model level (from what I can remember) The fortunes have a roller bearing option so there is no binding as well for extra $. I would ask myself honestly what the car will be used for and decide there. Ive had BC and fortunes and they ride different. Also spring rates and types of springs will make a difference. But going back to your comment. If its just a daily and your on a budget and time is short then BC is a good option. I personally would get fortunes. And i will be ordering fortunes for my other cars too
Hey great video. I have a Vehicle, that is so bouncy on the road even the I set the damping at the softest. is there a solution for this? Do I need to compress the springs on the preload more or less?
Too soft, also makes you bounce unnecessarily. Gotta find like happy medium. So it doesnt bounce all the time.... but too stiff, is bad too. I'm no pro, sorry lol hope it helps tho!
@@all-starproduction5672 I'm telling you, it's a delicate balance. One balances the other... sorta. I understand what you mean about it make the bumpyness worse.
Chanania Lala usually depends on the car make and model. For Example some companies sell only for fronts on certain cars like the ae86 corolla and rears separate too. Some companies offer both rear and fronts. You will just have to find out what the kit comes with. I have never seen anyone sell just one strut before
Megan Racing Ez Street v2 or D2 Racing Coilovers for my ‘12 civic coupe 🤔🤔 need suggestions. I daily drive the car and I know I’ll lose ride comfortability but I honestly just to be tucking tire walls. lol
Thanks ... Ive never been into suspension until now This will be my first time buying and installing coilovers and I'm looking at GOD SPEED Mono-SS Thoughts?
Its a daily driver... NO Budget The Coil Over I mentioned literally match the paint scheme of car (engine bay) House of Kolor Hot Pearl Pink and they do have "Pillow ball mounts" on them If I spelled that correctly
i have a 2000 toyota avalon w/ GodSpeed mono ss coilovers with dampening adjustable , reuses old top hats. 30k miles and still going. dampening is set in the Middle of soft and stiff & lowered 2.5 inches (iirc) all around. i drive daily over bumpy streets n occasionally hit small potholes . no signs of being worn or blown out yet.
You said budget coil overs are not dampening adjustable (Megan racing)? How come I've seem the Ez street model have a 15 way knob on top? So does this model coil over not the budget on and this one be like the buddy club (Middle grade)?
Kimberly Mill megans have adjustability but if you have experienced them the adjustments almost feel like they dont change anything unless its cranked all the way to soft or hard. Even then theres not much quality dampening happening here. This is based on my exp with these coils
Hey, should I put model specific coilovers? Let's say I have a Toyota corolla and I want to put HKS coilover but there are no HKS for that specific car and it's available for a Honda civic, will it fit?
jin5632 no do not do that!! Only model specific ones will fit!! There will be coilovers for your car or universal type ones that can be custome built for it
Bc no doubt! But D2 is not bad aswell, depends if you afford the Bc right away if not and you can’t wait to get enough money for Bc go D2 then No problem with that too
Got an 09 scion TC that I want to handle really well while retaining ride quality that my passengers(normies) won't hate. It also has to be able to handle a sub box without sagging the rear. Budget is sub $1k. I'm trying to keep any "single" part or area under $1k. So, $1k on engine, $1k on suspension, $1k on bass and deadening, $1k on the rest of the system, etc. I've looked into drop springs, but am worried they'll settle too far for the stiffer ones/lower ones, or they'll sag ass with the sub box build. The only 'raked' spring sets are Tein H-tech and S-tech. Pretty sure S-tech will be too low for me, and H-tech's are kinda soft(worried about sagging) so IDK. The forums recommended I go with Tein Street BasiS Z's so I can set the height, let them settle, then adjust to there for my preferences. On ebay, they're about $500, so it doesn't seem like a terrible deal for something I'd essentially never have to swap out to get the right stance or because there's a problem with uneven ride height. The only thing that concerns me is that they've got double the stock spring rate in them... Any guidance, bro?
Hi, brand new to all this. I have a 2014 Jetta and I want to lower 1" The question is...If I put coilovers on it do the stock springs come out and then the coilover does all the work that the front strut and the spring were doing. Thanks
So you are partially correct. Depends on the coilover kit and what you choose. Most full coilover kits are preassembled and just need fine tune adjustments. To answer your initial question, yes a coilover kit replaces the entire stock strut and spring setup as the coilover comes with its own custom strut, perches, springs, and mounts so the stock setup is compelely eliminated. And yes the coilover functions the same as the stock setup but at a much stiffer function which lowered vehicles tend to have. You wouldnt want much suspension travel on a lowered vehicle as your car would bounce like stock and could bottom out or hit the unibody onto the floor. Plus stiffer springs allow for better turning in certain situations
CHINO GodsOn hot tip ive heard nothing but shit about raceland, including snapping springs, leaking fluid after a couple hundred kms and more. Keep an eye on them
Hello, I'm looking at coilovers for my supra on the track (nasa) and was wondering if you've heard of KW Variant? Couldn't find much info on them. Someone recommended me Ohlins but I couldn't find it for my supra. Thanks.
The Vanilla Collection. I need help finding some coilovers for my 05 Honda Civic LX. I am looking for something with adjustability and a good smooth ride. Budget $1000
Christopher Williams cant have all 3. Lol meaning you gotta pick 2 out of the 3 for car parts. Quality / price / reliability 1000$ is in the budget range and theres tons. Main question to ask yourself is. What is the main purpose for this car? For looks? Daily driving? Racing? Next ask yourself what is the most important aspect you are looking for in a suspension setup? If you just want soft lowered rides for cheap then the easiest would be drop springs
Christopher Williams if you dont got $1000 go with drop springs first (roughly $100-$200) and easy to install they will be soft still compared to coils which is more comfortable and they lower your car. if that doesnt satisfy you and you want height adjustability and is a must and under 1000? Then you will lose comfort but gain looks and affordable price = megans, racelands, d2, godspeeds A decent brand is Tein Japans basics coilover kit which iirc runs around at 800. Correct me if i am wrong Or save up for BCs or Stance if available. Ebay will have tons of other unpopular brands. I have not tried them all but from my experience you get what you pay for
I have a Evo x it’s my daily driver and I’m running Cobb stage 3. I’m content with my current power output, but I would like a better stance compared to the factory. Any suggestions??
mastermelardoz drop springs is the best choice in my honest opinion. Did the same thing to many of my cars over the last decade. Drop springs allow you to lower your car at a set height. So check how much it drops. And its super cheap ($100-300) depending on brand. Install is easy if you have all the tools. Plus ride is good for daily driving and very mild racing. It will be stiffer than stock but nowhere near what coilover rates come in at
Alvin Nemenzo cusco is a great brand!! One of my all time classic brands! However their pricing puts them out of my choices (during the time this video was made) of options. You can honestly never fo wrong with cusco! I have friends with cuscos coils and have great experiences with it. The real question is which car is it for? And what do you plan to do with it?
THE VANILLA COLLECTION For my WRX 2015 im planning to get coils that can give me a better ride for Daily and for weekend spirited driving. After my Research im leaning towards getting Bilstein RCE Trophy cup Coilovers. What do you think? Cusco Street zero A or Bilstein RCE?
Alvin Nemenzo haha tough choices! The Bilsteins are awesome! And that name Trophy Cup makes it sounds really cool. But my heart is partially loyal to the Brands of Japan that have made history with vehicles made in Japan. But that is just me, and my complex way of thinking ha. If you are leaning towards the Bilsteins do that and let me know how it feels!
This guy forgot about KW, Penske and Ohlins for high end suspension. But these brands are definitely ‘uncool’ and have no hype surrounding them at all. And when building a turner car, part of the fun is buying a brand name and just putting pieces together like legos - even though they may not be the best parts out there. (Often they aren’t).
Robert Wilson Did not forget! Just wanted to keep it simple with some brands to mention! KW, Ohlins, FA, Zeal, Feal, there is so many brands!!! I will be posting a mew coilover video soon!!
I don't race but I like to test my car's cornering ability whenever possible. I have a 2017 Altima and I hate the way it handles however I'm a little worried about reliability among the brands. The last thing I want is to damage my car because I cheaped out.
Martin Smith a lot of quality brands make good entry level coilovers for street and occasionaly light track use! Not sure on which brands carry for the altima, but BC racing should be enough, fortune autos are very nice! And most major brands but if you have any Questions! You are more than welcome to ask here!
@@NewYorkBattleCat because I live in west Virginia and hills, potholes, and dirt roads are everywhere so tough place to have a really low car but I would be down to go a little less height like an inch or two but not to much just enough to give my ride that smooth feel and hug all these turns WV has because there's tons of sharp ass turns lol
Ervin Mcqueen depends on the purpose of the civic. Full track? Weekend track only, daily, stance, etc For cheap starters the Tein Flex, and middle quality would be BC, and higher end I would personally use Fortune Auto
Great video bro a lot of good information but the only thing that was annoying was the “skits” that you put in to many. Some was funny others was overkill. Overall was good
Over the last 10 year just about everyone at meets ( BMW AND Porsche ) agree THEY REGRET there coil overs and deleted them. Some went with lowering springs most went back to factory. There ok for low end cars not for high end cars BMW, Mercedes and Porsche were there suspension are engineered for the best performance. Waste of money.
